The water off campus has issues (I wouldn't drink it), but you can get filtered water for free on campus, or buy or boil water for home, or ship down some pure filters. There are a few places that were not good for me to eat at, but for the most part, most of the places are ok to eat at.
yes, everyone has propane stoves (no big deal), the internet is pretty fast (for sure on campus, depends on you apartment), the electricity is pretty reliable, but it is still advisable to rent from a place with a generator if you plan to study at home...the electricity does go out once in awhile for an hour or two...rarely though.
@jjlacoss Hey, so by now you must be done with your degree..how about residency in U.S?? I heard its really hard to get a residency if you did your M.D. in Carribean..if thats true, would it provide an edge if you got it from top 4 med schools including Ross and Saba??
sorry for the really late reply, I didn't realize there was a message here. I am not done with my degree yet....in clinical rotations now. It is competitive to get a residency, but Ross has a pretty good match rate from what I can see...but just make sure you do well on all of the STEP exams. It is better for you to go to one of the top ranking med schools for sure. They have more rotation spots, so you can get scheduled easier. Hope that helps.
@MrHassibK Yes, you are only on the island for 16 months (it goes by fast) to do your basic sciences and then you return to the U.S. to complete 5th semester and clinical rotations. I did my clinical rotations in a bunch of different cities including Miami FL, Atlanta GA, Baltimore MD, New York City, Brooklyn, NY, Fort Worth TX, Saginaw MI, and San Antonio TX. I chose to move around for my rotations, but if you want to live in NYC, Miami, Chicago, or Atlanta, you might stay in one city.
It's actually a pretty great school. I am just about finished down here and will be leaving in a couple of weeks and can now say that it was a pretty great experience to come down here. No regrets on my end!

thanks for answering my questions. One further one did you get sick much from the food or water or both while you were there?
