funny how they make being a doctor or a lawyer guarantees you success and favoritism...smh. entrepreneurs are the most successful people. college dont make you better than any one else...know alot of people who didn't go to college and their happier than doctors or lawyers...seems they were promoting this on purpose...this college and medical/lawyer fairy tale. Elvin is cool with me.
@studiousangel : Honey, don't try to be an entrepreneur. You will starve to death. 85 to 90 percent of new businesses are failures. Elvin's 'wilderness store' would not have supported a family of four. This is TV, and they don't tell you the hard facts.
@studiousangel I hate the whole "I'm going to be a doctor" "Im going to be a lawyer" thing. Its all so smug. The problem also exist that some young people set their ambitions too high. My cousin for example and her mother were so sure that she would get into college to do law and she didn't and now she is doing an English degree the same as me. So yeah I agree for most people it is just a fantasy fairytale.
@studiousangel Yeah people have this misconception that being a MD or lawyer equals success and "status". It also depends on your definition of success but this is a sitcom and everything is in this neat little package so it's not really surprising. I don't think people take it too seriously. Unfortunately many people go into these fields for the wrong reasons and end up in really deep debt from both college and med/law school. The episode Waterworks has a better perspective to it
