HAHAHA, thanks Justin for the awsome time in 2001 at your place. Great memories watchin this video shot at your house !!! Thanks buddy will never forget that time ;-) All the best, Dennis (Dutchie)
LOL - some of my greatest memories from my youth were Saturday nights spent with my friends watching TOSAW play in the Espy and St.Pats to name but a few...
Smiles, hugs, wonderful memories and a heartfelt Happy Birthday to my beautiful friend Marc :)
I think this is the greatest love song ever written. When I first heard it I thought "Oh, he loves her soooo much, I hope she never breaks his heart." I read in a recent article in the paper that Greg Arnold and the Helen of the song are happily married with children. I breathed a sigh.
If, Spiritanimal, you are indeed the real Helen. Well lucky you!
I remember Molly saying at the ARIA's that this young talent of which I think that they one, he said they were the best new talent in years............ I loved this song and have great memories because of it but after this we never heard of them again!!!! aaahhh the early nineties!!!!
It might not have been Captain Cook's Cabin, but at least it rhymes with Moorabbin. I haven't seen this clip all the way before. Can see where the Late Show got their material from.
This is the first song I ever heard of with Helen in the title. It makes me happy. It's also better than Hey Hey Helen by Abba, which was the second :)
So weird the lead singer just did a songwriting workshop with me and 4 mates at my school and did this song acoustic and he's like 20 years older but sounds so much better live amazing and helped me so much 1 on 1 with songwriting wicked bloke :)
Great song "Happy Bday Helen" by Greg Arnold. He just produced my new CD while I was in Melbourne. We wrote a couple songs together too. Song 3 and 9 on my CD "These Days". He's a talent for sure. And a nice guy to boot! Thanks for sharing.
I was in Australia in 1992 visiting my father that had emmigrated there only months before....there was an advert on TV for this album called the yearning - it gave a 10 second extract on each of the singles released from this album....I thought these sound alright and went to see them in a tiny venue in adelaide called the WhiteLion,
They blew me away and the Yearning is in my top 5 albums of all time..its beautiful, different and inspiring -it taught me how to write songs
This song is for Helen David and thts the absolute truth because in English we are doing presentations on music that matters to us and this was the song her boyfriend (the singer) sung for our teachers birthday (Helen)
Just added this video to my favourites. My real name is Helen and it was my birthday yesterday, yes on Halloween! An online buddy posted on a U2 forum I visit often, as a birthday greeting. What a lovely song!! ;)
I was at a club in Ropponggii,Japan called Dejavu and since I had this cd and let them play it,I drank all night for free and everyone was surprised that a yank new the words to this song.
Great. I am from Adelaide and upon seeing this way back in the early 90's my sister and scooted off to Melbourne and then to the Prince Patrick Hotel...we were under-age - but posed out the from of the hotel and got a photo. Oh the days...
I went to my friend Helen's 21st party last night and only one person had heard of this song! Too bad that we didn't play this song-such a great one. Wish it had my name in it but there's already alot of songs w/ my name in it. This song takes me back; my mother and I used to sing it.
This song and this album are still one of my all time favorites. If I had ten albums to take to an island (as weird as that sounds), this would be one of my first picks. It must have been at a time in my life where it just fell into everything I was doing. It really influenced my songwriting.
thanks for posting this one man, I have been searching for it everywhere. One of the most beautiful aussie songs of its time and something that means a lot to me personally, thanks again.
I miss melbourne so much....crown casino....ong restaurant, Lw. Heidelberg, Parkville, La trobe Uni, Nightrider if drunk :P, Big breakfast of McD, Sitar street performer on Swanson St (forgot his name) nice record he has. Last but not least the daily planet (if still exist....huahahahaha)
Can you imagin if someone made a filmclip like this now....
Just shows the 90's were all about the music

If it's crap why did it receive considerable commercial radio airplay back in the early 1990s?
The band were quite succesful on the pub circuit too.
