  • awesome song ^_^ my name is helen, and my birthday in a few days, this make me smile :D

  • LOL - some of my greatest memories from my youth were Saturday nights spent with my friends watching TOSAW play in the Espy and St.Pats to name but a few...

Smiles, hugs, wonderful memories and a heartfelt Happy Birthday to my beautiful friend Marc :)

  • We used to see you play at the Tote in Melbourne with the Sony Music crew promoting the album - great song still resioates well

  • I think this is the greatest love song ever written. When I first heard it I thought "Oh, he loves her soooo much, I hope she never breaks his heart." I read in a recent article in the paper that Greg Arnold and the Helen of the song are happily married with children. I breathed a sigh.

If, Spiritanimal, you are indeed the real Helen. Well lucky you!

  • I am the real Helen

  • I can't believe this album was the first CD I ever bought. I was a very strange 12 year-old...

  • THis song sucked big time back then. And nothing has changed at all.

  • cracker tune done withb such high energy !!!

  • in 2:49 did he say shit?

  • when was this guy born

  • I remember Molly saying at the ARIA's that this young talent of which I think that they one, he said they were the best new talent in years............ I loved this song and have great memories because of it but after this we never heard of them again!!!! aaahhh the early nineties!!!!

  • haha justin is now my music teacher at tafe!

  • I've uploaded a higher quality version of this + 2 other TOSAW vids, check my channel.

  • this track still gives me tingles up my spine 18 yrs later and makes me proud to be from melbourne awesome track!!!!

  • It might not have been Captain Cook's Cabin, but at least it rhymes with Moorabbin. I haven't seen this clip all the way before. Can see where the Late Show got their material from.

  • @GeoffreyTransom "Accidentally Was Released", you mean.

  • Wait a second, was that bit filmed at Captain Cook's Cabin?

  • This is the first song I ever heard of with Helen in the title. It makes me happy. It's also better than Hey Hey Helen by Abba, which was the second :)

  • flashback too OZ many years ago ,brillant tune !!!

  • Great times with Sean from Seattle and Natalie from Perth!!!

  • So weird the lead singer just did a songwriting workshop with me and 4 mates at my school and did this song acoustic and he's like 20 years older but sounds so much better live amazing and helped me so much 1 on 1 with songwriting wicked bloke :)

  • This was sent to me for my birthday. What agreat song! never heard it before, but now it's my birthday song. Thanks guys, great band.

  • @covernofwitches Is your name Helen though?

  • @gxd4b1 Certainly is!

  • you are the tunes in my head. the fire in my ribs.

thankyou so much for uploading this.

brings back so many childhood memories.

    <3

  • Great song "Happy Bday Helen" by Greg Arnold. He just produced my new CD while I was in Melbourne. We wrote a couple songs together too. Song 3 and 9 on my CD "These Days". He's a talent for sure. And a nice guy to boot! Thanks for sharing.

  • I love this song, but my ex's gf name has sort of destroyed it

  • We've just run out of melbourne cliche's!!!!!!!

  • What a classic comment (and you're pretty spot on too) :o)

  • @ajcookmeck ha ha, love the late show!

  • Seen these guys years ago!!..and they were FANTASTIC...i wish they would come back and play some more!!

    LOVE The Yearning...FANTASTIC ALBUM!!!

  • Saw these guys in Perth 'bout a hundred years ago. The Yearning remains my favorite album of all time. --kevin from Boston, USA

  • I was in Australia in 1992 visiting my father that had emmigrated there only months before....there was an advert on TV for this album called the yearning - it gave a 10 second extract on each of the singles released from this album....I thought these sound alright and went to see them in a tiny venue in adelaide called the WhiteLion,

They blew me away and the Yearning is in my top 5 albums of all time..its beautiful, different and inspiring -it taught me how to write songs

  • This song is for Helen David and thts the absolute truth because in English we are doing presentations on music that matters to us and this was the song her boyfriend (the singer) sung for our teachers birthday (Helen)

  • Awesome:-)))))))))))

  • For Helen Villanueva

  • Comment removed

  • Awesome.

  • Great song......wish I was back living in Melbourne!

  • lets not forget last night as we drove along the yarra

  • As a kid, I used to hate this song. I really don't know why. Meh, I was a stupid kid. It's such a great song...

  • Love this song! so happy and heart warming love it love it love it

  • Haha they did a send up of this vid on The Late Show going on about how 'I just made another Melbourne cliche!'

  • Happy Birthday to me :)

  • Or Frente. Accidentally Kelly Street anyone?

  • How can a song be assigned a sexual preference?

    THINKB4YOUSPEAKdotCOM

  • Damn Victorians!! (a.k.a mexicans)!!

  • You know it!

  • Bloody awesome

Get fucked if you don't like it!!!!!

  • Damn right.

  • If you have fire in your ribs, goto the fuckin doctor it's probably heart burn and can be treated!

  • If it's crap why did it receive considerable commercial radio airplay back in the early 1990s?

The band were quite succesful on the pub circuit too.

  • where's yours?

  • Just added this video to my favourites. My real name is Helen and it was my birthday yesterday, yes on Halloween! An online buddy posted on a U2 forum I visit often, as a birthday greeting. What a lovely song!! ;)

  • Lovely bunch of guys, have had a few drinks with them.

  • I was at a club in Ropponggii,Japan called Dejavu and since I had this cd and let them play it,I drank all night for free and everyone was surprised that a yank new the words to this song.

  • i am the real helen.

  • Great. I am from Adelaide and upon seeing this way back in the early 90's my sister and scooted off to Melbourne and then to the Prince Patrick Hotel...we were under-age - but posed out the from of the hotel and got a photo. Oh the days...

  • I went to my friend Helen's 21st party last night and only one person had heard of this song! Too bad that we didn't play this song-such a great one. Wish it had my name in it but there's already alot of songs w/ my name in it. This song takes me back; my mother and I used to sing it.

  • This was written for Helen's 21st.

  • Brilliant!

  • Sensational - definitely takes me back.

  • This song and this album are still one of my all time favorites. If I had ten albums to take to an island (as weird as that sounds), this would be one of my first picks. It must have been at a time in my life where it just fell into everything I was doing. It really influenced my songwriting.

  • pretty good band. Their best song is Blink. Anyone know where that is?

  • I'm a brizzy bloke as well BRISBANE RULES

  • I haven't heard this song in years, nice add mate. :-)

Have anyone heard the parody version "No more Melbourne Cliche's"?

  • From The Late Show? Yes, I have that on DVD.....I liked it how the video they made was nearly identical to this one.

  • thanks for posting this one man, I have been searching for it everywhere. One of the most beautiful aussie songs of its time and something that means a lot to me personally, thanks again.

  • saw this band supporting jayhawks years ago in glasgow. got an old tape demo, played it to death... amazing...

  • I still like this song & still play it sometimes.

I wonder what happened to them now?...

They only released couple of songs in 1993 that I know of.

  • I miss melbourne so much....crown casino....ong restaurant, Lw. Heidelberg, Parkville, La trobe Uni, Nightrider if drunk :P, Big breakfast of McD, Sitar street performer on Swanson St (forgot his name) nice record he has. Last but not least the daily planet (if still exist....huahahahaha)

  • STILL a good song after all of these years. AND I got to sing it to a girl just the other day!

  • Top song this is! Thanks for posting.

  • Bought the E.P. on holiday in '93, never off my CD player even now!

  • Still a great song :)

  • Aah... memories of Melbourne!!!'
