  • Horrible thing to ask any young modern minded young woman to wear. Hate the sight of them persoanally..not the women the Sari's

  • @FIST2k8 Why? I happen to be a modern minded woman and I happen to think they are beautiful.

  • I have been wearing the sari for years and I have to tell you for a video to help a novice learn how to wear one your example is really bad. No wonder people are confused. This view is simply not very helpful. Sorry :)

  • 2 layer underwear ,1 long skirt.then several layers of saree tied to waist.i think they already do #1,2 in their under garments before un tie all on time?.LOLz

  • The girl look like swarnamalya who is the tamil actress and DJ.

  • How much fabric do I need for a sari?

  • about 6.5m is standard. that gives enough material to make the sari + the blouse, then you need more for the slip/skirt

  • Very bad tying. It looks super messy.

  • this is awesome .........

  • Ii is really beautiful attire THE SARI.

There are more than dozen styles of wearing it but the style shown here is the most adopted and the most gracious of all.

The sari keeps most of your body wrapped protecting from direct sunlight, forced air , dust and ofcourse from bad eyes.

    Thanks for the VIDEO.

  • wont it get dirty tho?!

  • thanks for this video. i'm going to a daawat where my mom isn't attending. and i needed to know how to wear a sri. this video was simple to understand and mimic. thanks again!

  • So beautiful!

  • y the hell does thesari touch the floor anyways good video

  • How do you wear a sari with the pallu on the front? Any tutorials for that? Thanks!

  • meio complicado!!

  • Thank you I need to put saree on for very special occasiopn like n indian wedding or prayer and it takes hours to put it on , I have to keep trying and trying and i am so scared that the saree will fall off I tighten my skirt so tight that I get Thank yousoreness and marks on my waist , I always look forward to take the saree down at the end of the day. I never feel comfortable but due religious purposes I have to wear it. It looks beautiful on others.

  • That is beautiful fabric!! Since watching Bollywood/Indian movies, I have come to love the materials that they use for saris in the films. They are so gorgeous, I want to wear one!

  • well if u r wearing to flaunt then wear it below navel, men love that kinda view

  • what is you are.. well im gpoing to use the words: plus sized... and dont want to wear a midriff showing top under neath because of... uh...well... back rolls >.> can you wear one a bit longer?

  • yes you can, but it doesn't look as good, if you wear a choli that comes right under your bust and you do have back rolls, it's not that noticeable because of the sari, but if you're still not comfortable wear one that comes down to your waist

  • some body teach me how to wear a blouse

  • thanx soo much, I'm getting married nxt month and at least one worry is no longer there!!

  • I have used this sight many times for putting a sari on.

  • Very sloppy technique...folding a sari properly makes the difference of simply wearing a sheet and looking like a rag or looking like an Indian princess. Do a better job next time for the westerners who don't know how to fold sari properly.

  • i agree, it was very sloppy. The folding is what makes the diffrances on it the more neat it is the better it comes out to look.

  • @gunitbabi Agreed. Some people have started using Sari Saheli (a simple tool that helps you drape the sari) to keep their pleats even.

  • not so much helpfull.U didn't show how to fold it on a shoulder.U did it but u did't show it.shame

  • wow beautiful..but what if the saree comes apart?

    im confused..

i want to wear one to a pakistani wedding, but i want ti to be secure...

also how long does the sari have to be?

  • did you try readymade sari. You can sear it like a skirt and it doesnt fall apart

  • @indianselections Where does one get readymade saris in the USA do you know by any chance?

  • @xMadhoshi you can buy it on our website Almost any sari fabric can be upgraded to a readymade sari for an additional $15

  • @NiggaSayWhat DONT WORRY IT WONT COME OUT..MAKe sure that the petticoa that you wear or the skirt as in the video is properly tied tightly...that ways it will never come down...after wearing the saree u can always pin up the plates n also pin it up on the shoulder////

  • you might benefit from a new gadget called sari saheli that helps you wear sari.

With this you can wear sari with perfect pleats in less than 5 minutes and no help needed

  • @NiggaSayWhat You can safety-pin the pleats and tuck them in, or pin the pleats to the petticoat. I usually just pin the pleats then tuck it in - you don't want the pin to actually show.

As for how long it will be - I usually put my shoes on then do the sari so that the bottom hits a little above the floor, basically the same length you would wear trousers with heels. You may have to lift the skirt a bit if you walk barefoot then (like if the ceremony is in a temple).

  • @NiggaSayWhat wear safety pins ....

  • thanks!!! itss so helpful

  • ITS REALLY HELPFUL

  • i had to watch this vid jus to help my gal do hers up..wo invented a sare man

  • i've just acquired about 8 sari's from indian, and i loved them. thank you so much for showing this video. this is a very easy instructional

  • i too agree.....(",)...i wanna hv 1

  • Sari looks good on TALL girls. Just a beauty tip before deciding on getting a sari.

    I am tall myself. I am 5'10"

  • Sari looks good on anyone if you know how to wear it and accessorize. (did i spell th@ right?)

  • waa....she is beautiful.....worth watching it....(",)

  • she went to high school with me...

  • where?

  • Ennis High School

    Box 517

    Ennis, MT

    59729

  • ermm....ahahahahaaa

  • THIS IS HELPFUL!

Does anyone know of a good place on the net where I can buy Sari material *White -- For my wedding Sari?

  • saris are beautiful!

  • Even though the Sari remains the same everywhere in India(meant the product, almost), thre are hundreds of different ways to wear it depending upon which part of India you come from, your ethnicity, relgion etc. etc. The process of wearing it in this video appears to be somewhere from North India.

  • this way of draping a saree is the most common nowadays, it's called ulta palla or nivi style, it was originally a very ancient Southern style, now also used in the North. The most popular original style in North India was the one called Gujarati style, with the palla on the front and not the back. Each region/state has it's traditional draping style tho

  • It is also called Bengali style as that is the way they wear it in West Bengal and Bangladesh. My Gujarati friends also call this style Bengali.

  • yikes, please if you're using this video as your sole guide, take note that the pleats done in this video (the ones at the waist) are done VERY poorly.

The wearer rushed and the pleats ended up being all diff sizes, which made them look really messy/clumsy in the end. Take your time, be neat, and tuck them in nicely and smoothly, and you'll have a much better looking finished product.

  • i so agree with u... n btw is this a thing to show come on we can c ur body HELLO....

  • very pretty!!

  • I can't get the pleats to look nice at all! No matter how hard I try they just don't come out right!

  • The sari is a plain georgette sari and is a very popular fabric in India and around the world. It wont comedown if wrapped properly.

  • tht was a very clumsy saree which can all down any moment u step on it

  • Oh my god I have been doing it wrong, this is much more simpler then how I was doing it.

  • I know! on the last day of school my bff and i made saris out of cheap polyester and wore them but we were doing it all wrong! i should have come straight 2 youtube to find out how u really do it B^)

  • This tutorial uses soft material so that you don't really have to make good pleats, and also it doesn't pleat on the shoulder, it leaves the sari loose, so if you're a lousy pleater, this is the style for you.

  • The fabric in the video is georgette fabric and is used generally in summer season.

  • okay good coz that's the material I have and everytime I try to make pleats it always slips lol...I guess I should be okay then

  • bout time i found a god one lol

  • how to make pleats??? i can never make those

  • Finally! A video which shows the correct way of wearing a saree (Bengali style).

  • Video on how to wear a sari
