I'm not one to know much at all about track driving, though it is very interesting, but while you were behind the pace car... Why were you doing the swerves back and forth? Were you warming up the tires or were you just bored?
Cleaning and warming the tires. Though it doesn't help all that much at those speeds... it still takes another half lap o so at full speed for the tires to really get up to temperature...
But I was having oil issues back then and could only get about 2 laps out of the car at full speed before my catch cans filled up, so I needed to get the tires as warm as possible as soon as possible.
Was everyone else doing that as well? I've never watched many track races pre pace car. But it all makes sense, and that sucks with the oil issue... At least you have a running vehicle. Old people like to pull out in front of me across four lanes of traffic, stop and attempt to turn into a what-a-burger with me doing 40 behind them in heavy rain. Fml xD
See they call these things SUV's but there just as bad as car. crossovers are not suv's just call them station wagons. would hat happen to a normal suv off road? no but it would hppen to a station wagon
A "normal SUV" would have flown off the track much sooner and faster for lack of handling, then smashed through the wall due to the heavier weight, then rolled down the hill due to the high center of gravity. The problem here was not "off road handling" it was "entering a corner too fast".
Do you believe anything with big tires has infinite traction on dirt because the laws of physics don't apply to them? I think I've passed you in my car while your "normal" SUV was stuffed in a snow bank.
We just had a spring driver's school at summit point. We did an ambulance drill, but the ambulance pulled straight out of the pits and right onto the racing line, much to the consternation of the rookie racers who had to come to an almost complete stop.
why would they even have a SUV as a pace car? to me safety is, a low to ground vehicle, maybe AWD which this infinity may have had, and possibly a knowledgeable driver of the course setup....
I WAS WORKING THIS EVENT! Came all the way down from Cheney, WA to work for SF region... Cool! Which car are you? I'm sure I have a pic of your car from that event...
I'm hoping to get my 84 FB togeather for ITE racing here soon and run it in SF region.
With the speed disparity between the cars at these events, I can catch the slower cars in just a lap or two, so I need the tires to be at max grip as soon as my 1st hot lap starts because I usually only get one flying lap before my times are compromised by traffic.
UR is not a word. DA is not a word. LIEING is actually spelled "lying". GUNNA is not a word. U is not a word. ANYGIRLS is actually two words.
But nonetheless, way to put together a convincing argument. I'm sure everyone will believe (due to your impressive mastery of the English language and argumentative skills) that I stole this video (and like 15 other ones apparently) and put it on YouTube to get girls. I mean, it is a rather ingenious plan... it certainly got your panties in a bunch.
LIEING is not a word either btw, well not in english anyway. Funny clip though.
You would think that the pace car driver would get some training laps before the real thing, maybe a day before or something that would make him/her aware of where on the dangers are!
That was an immature move whoever made that guy drive the pace car. Very nice handling Sperry04, dont pay any attention to what the guys below me are saying.
he is part right dude, if u get a vibration you scrub ur tires to make sure its not just a chunk of rubber u picked up on a pace lap before u pull off
LOL i bet he felt like a complete POS! Ok 112 why "steering madly"? thats what race cars do man!! i think it has something to do with the stickiness of the tires and at low speed they pick up alot of crap from teh track so turning like that cleans them off
Looks like a pretty boring track for W2W racing, seems to be a popular Wilson type design for country club "racers". Who paid for the damage to the pace car ????
This can't be SCCA racing, since the track isn't yet passed it's inspection. It's only legal for "time trials" or what used to be the old Solo I events. Must have been a NASA event.
It's not an SCCA race. It's an SCCA Time Trials (I didn't mention it in the comments for this video, but if you check out my other videos you'll see that they're all trials events).
We're hoping to have SCCA race certification for the track starting in '08.
Very funny. Must be hard to be honest and acknowledge that one has made a driving mistake. Poor guy, he was filmed, shame on him, lol :D Great vid, thx, great engine sound!!!
They've got a ton of configurations, but due to all the different roads merging at that one spot where the pace car wrecked, there seem to be no "good" turns there. They're all a bit scary, or simply not fun to drive.
The best part of the whole track is the hill climb... as long as you're in a car with horsepower.
The worst part is the lack of sightlines. With the hills and dips in a desert, there's nothing to use as a marker. Even the cones were hidden half the time. A small haybale stack a few metres off the inside of each corner would be a start.
Nice sightlines...not! Cripes, the rises and dips on that track that look like waves on the ocean. You can't see 20 metres ahead of you.
Half of those pathetic little cones are invisible until you're on top of them. Some hay bales placed a few metres off the insides of corners *might* be a good idea.
My retarded car is undefeated this season, and won last year's NORPAC Divisional Championship by setting fastest lap over even the open wheel cars in other classes. So far, empirical evidence suggests my retarded car has a higher chance of winning than losing.
But thanks anyway for the troll comments on the video.
lmao. i see how competitive your races are by the fact the pace car can't even stay on the track at 25MPH. what r u driving? a bmw? be glad i don't bring my ultima with a supercharged small block to kick your ass. dyno shows 845RWHP. i don't need to warm up my tires to win.
It was going 45 and the driver swore that there was a sudden mechanical problem. "I turned right and nothing happened." He slammed sideways into the concrete wall. Other witnesses said that the "something" is called "understeer" and the driver didn't want to admit that he screwed up and destroyed our safety car.
wtf? how much of an ignorant fool are you!?! LOL. If you couldn't tell by his freaking hood scoop, he's driving a Subaru WRX, perhaps STI. You're talking about comparing your ultima with an AWD turbo'ed track monster? What's wrong with you? Freaking fool don't cry just because you don't have a car or license.
