When Crounching, Look at the Eye you use to Aim. If it's Closed that means you are hidden, When it's Open then They see you. Thumbs up so the man can see this?

I failed this three times, but I did it all in the open right there and then, it's not too difficult you just need to wait until the guard turns around, he is located behind you near the store, just plant it on the person closest to you in the crowd.

@theRadBrad You are really rushing through the main storyline. Maybe you think you are taking it easy, but there is a lot more to the game but the main story. Please do side quests and craft some stuff. Smiting and enchanting, you don't have to do it on camera. Just when you start making your commentary just say what you did. :) I'm just trying to be helpful
