I grew up in Iran too and I must say that it was not horrible at all. I have great memories there and visit often. I must add that I admire freedom of speech here in the states and I would love to see it implemented in Iran. I think only with open lines of communication can we as a nation and this was a great first step! I hope one day we will all stop hating the unknown because we took the time to know it!

I think he made a fairly good speech and cleared up 2 misconceptions about Iran. One being that he admitted that the holocaust existed and also that Iran was open to talks with the states. He also wanted to show his respect to the 911 survivors and ones killed by laying a reef. This gesture would have been a slap to Osama and a symbol of peace and unity with the States!

The Iranian president is very brave and honest in his attempt to answer questions at columbia university. His responses are logical, clear and honest. The American people would benefit from paying close attention to his thoughts. Instead he is mocked and ridiculed. The Iranian president is more enlightened and far more educated than his American counterpart. Perhaps the American public should take more care in electing candidates to run their country.

When people say there is no freedom of speech in iran, but the president of iran is allowed to speak his mind is unfair, but look at everywhere else in the world. Do you think they have free speech? there are parts of europe, where if you offend the royality (an example is spain), you get persecuted.

this is an academic debate. he talked at a university and im glad he did. the first step into understanding everyone of the world is to have a discussion and open up dialog. how do we judge who we dont understand? it is the most important thing is to learn from one another and you can't do that without debate and communication. i hope there will be more open discussion and i look forward to seeing where it goes.

I grew up in Iran too and I must say that it was not horrible at all. I have great memories there and visit often. I must add that I admire freedom of speech here in the states and I would love to see it implemented in Iran. I think only with open lines of communication can we as a nation and this was a great first step! I hope one day we will all stop hating the unknown because we took the time to know it!

I think he made a fairly good speech and cleared up 2 misconceptions about Iran. One being that he admitted that the holocaust existed and also that Iran was open to talks with the states. He also wanted to show his respect to the 911 survivors and ones killed by laying a reef. This gesture would have been a slap to Osama and a symbol of peace and unity with the States!
