Dad Rudd is a symbol of bush Australia. the way things used to be many a year ago. Too much body in the water. Hilarious! but these one liners were a way of life back then, they didn't expect applause, nor seek it.
A lot of the slang in here is lost to the modern Australian today, and it is a shame as it was a part of white Australian history.
I didn't know there was more than 1 version. When I researched it on Wikipedia, it said 1920 Silent Film. It clearly isn't Silent, and I suppose it probably isn't 1920 either (as voice & soundtracks wouldn't have been available then). Good point. I'll update my details here.
The place where I "borrowed" the full description, that I have used here, described it as a Silent Film - but clearly it is not. So I'll correct my titles.

found out the other version is called "dad and dave on our selection"...remember watching it on tv was a kak up!
