If one has just $10 to help someone else God doesn't care if you give it to someone on tv or at a local food pantry. IF God wants a tv ministry to "prosper" it will prosper with or without what I give somewhere else. ...If one gives a "seed" offering, it makes no difference whether its a radio or local church ministry.

If you really want to give your money to God, then help the needy people in your neighborhood. When you actually give something from your hand directly into their hand, the joy you feel is like no other high. Give to Christian charities that have on record the percentages of what money goes directly to helping people and what goes towards administration cost. There are ways out there to get your money into organizations that really spread God's love, just look and ask God to show you.

If you really want to give your money to God, then help the needy people in your neighborhood. When you actually give something from your hand directly into their hand, the joy you feel is like no other high. Give to Christian charities that have on record the percentages of what money goes directly to helping people and what goes towards administration cost. There are ways out there to get your money into organizations that really spread God's love, just look and ask God to show you.

why give to christian charities? what can a christian charity achieve that a secular charity cannot? seems to me like the more religious the charity is, the higher the odds that your money is being misappropriated.
Isn't giving to the needy enough for you? if you're helping the needy people in the neighbourhood, the religion of the charity is irrelevant.

. It does not matter if it is a secular or religious charity if it is doing what it claims. Christian charities give more than just physical help, they give hope, faith and love to build up each individual internally, to be able to face the external problems surrounding them. If you give to your neighbors and help them, I see nothing wrong with that.

Does hope count if its delusion? I assume you are referring to hope in Jesus Christ's salvation. What happens if they realise jesus was a myth? Wouldn't a Jewish charity/islamic charity be equally as effective in providing hope? I mean, they are all based on our desire to go to heaven, so why not? And they are all equally as true as each other... which is to say, not at all.

@mcpencil If Christ seems to be a delusion to you then give your money to the US government to provide help. Look what a great job welfare has done. Look around the world and see where man and governments have really helped the people and send your money to them. God knows the reason behind the giver and what the charity intensions are. We are all accountable to Him in the end.

@mcpencil When ever large amounts of money are given to help the poor, corruption can enter into the picture regardless if it is a secular or religious organization. Just research the charity and give cheerfully. God loves a cheerful giver and if the charity misuses the funds, then God will deal with them.

The point i was making is that christian charities offer nothing over secular charities. In fact, their motivations are not so pure... theyre in the game partly to convert vulnerable people from third world countries to their cause.
Is there any credible evidence for the resurrection of jesus? i think not. The writers of the gospels, which were written many years after his death, simply allege that there were eye witnesses. This is hearsay.

@mcpencil You can try to argue all you want about the truth of the Gospels. If you or anybody else DOESN'T WANT TO BELIEVE, there is nothing I or anyone else can say to change that. On the other hand, I do believe the Bible. I believe that there is a God, and that Jesus Christ is the only way for salvation. By that belief, I believe that anyone not believing that Jesus is who he said he was, is condemning themselves to eternal damnation...

But what kind of person would I be, if I took care of their food and clothing and did not look after their eternity? If I claim my God loves people and I am to be like him and show that love, how can I turn my back on them spiritually just because you might disagree or "be offended"...

But not only useless, but meaningless. Meaningless in that it didn't do one thing or another, because every person I had tried to reach will also be in my condition someday, and IT ALL will be meaningless for eternity. ...BUT if I AM right, every person who I can impact with the love of God will be affected for eternity

Yes, it is valid from your perspective, given that you sincerely believe. But from my perspective, all of the rituals you do are useless. I personally want society to become less religious, so, just like you spread your ideas, I would prefer that more and more people came around to my side. Its pretty much a war for peoples' minds.
Telling a christian to give to a religious charity is fine. You shouldn't expect atheists to do it, as they have already rejected organised religion.

What you cannot disagree with is that if I feed someone or clothe someone, that is one less person with need. How many people have been helped by Samaritans Purse, Habitat For Humanity, World Vision, Salvation Army, Catholic Charities and others. All orginizations started by christians and funded, IN PART, by christians. Would you STOP our help because of our MESSAGE???

No, I would not stop your help. But when christians say that they are more "moral" people than atheists, they should not use the charity argument, because christianity does not have a monopoly on charities.
Also, from my point of view, I don't like that the christian (or any abrahamic religion) message is being spread, but i suppose your faith compels you to do it. The most vulnerable in society are also the most receptive to religion, so I am very cynical of it.

@mcpencil We can argue morality all we want. From a purely ideological stand point you have a view and I have a view, and we both have a right to express our views. Now what changes is our foundations. If your an atheist, your morality originates from yourself, and can differ from another atheist next to you. But I believe all morality begins and ends with a sovereign God, and does not change. Now there is one thing, we can both be wrong. But we can't both be right.

I never said all religious charities are corrupt, or that all secular charities are pure. All I meant was, both intuitively and statistically, there is higher potential for corruption with a religious charity.

TV , radio or megachurches don't automatically make one a con, and vice a versa. Can we agree that SOME christians are very fine, upstanding, well intentioned, caring people? :)

Why is Charles Manson wrong? Why is Mother Theresa considered good? What is the standard of good and evil, right and wrong, and does that standard change? If that standard changes, how does one know what is right today but not wrong tomorrow?

Again, he is the creator, with all wisdom and knowledge. Wisdom tells us, that to understand something, the first thing we need to do is find out WHY. Why is fire hot? Why do apples fall down? Why does the earth orbit the sun? Why is God the way he is?

IF she was encouraging someone to give sacrificially to feed someone else through their own means or their own church or a local food pantry, I would have had more respect. When I see someone who has an apparently LAVISH lifestyle begging for money to "THEIR" ministry it ANGERS me. @mcpencil There is an organization called Ministry Watch that rates effectiveness of ministries and there forethrightness. There are also Charity Watch and Charity Navigator for all types of charities. It is wise to thouroghly check out any charity you might want to give to. Its easy to send you a picture of a malnurished child in Azerbahranistanislovina and tell you $1 a month will supply a months worth of food. Too many people blindly send $ and have no idea how much might actually go to help.

Yes... some of these people have unbelievable nerve! Many of them, will gleefully take your last penny to enrich themselves. This is not representative of God/Jesus, I know that and there are still quite a few genuine preachers out there. I remember going to that monster crook Bob Tilton's church many years ago on a fluke and them locking the doors and turning people back into the church, at offering time, if you tried to leave. No kidding!
