Newfoundland dogs are GREEAAAT!!! My Skittle died when she was 8 years old. She got so sick....:( I miss her soooo much but I can't get another dog it'll feel like I'm trying to replace her. Funny thing is I was TERRIFIED of dogs before we got her. So instead of getting a new dog I watch Newfie videos like a loser lol Great dog though!

@GodlessIrish i think both are pretty awesome ;) my opinion is that boxers get a bad rap, because not all are mean (and that what they pretty much are labelled as unfortunately) and newfie's are the sweetest things in the world :D

I just got a newfie pup a month ago, and he met my friend's year old boxer. The boxer kept trying to play and my pup just hid behind my legs. Poor thing is scared of hyper dogs...though I can't say I blame him.

Great dog, I feel sorry for older dogs who ahve to deal with puppies lol. We are currentley fostering a lab/pit bull mix puppy and my poor dogs get chewed on, I am just waiting for them to tell her to quit but they wont.

Newfs are the most patient dogs ever, my George is the same, he is on my channel if ya wanna see him. It helps having such a thick coat, they dont even feel it.

Maddie is not a big slobberer, however that is not the norm. She is extremely affectionate...and does like to sneak in an occasional kiss (big and wet!)

Thats a great Newf you got there hopefully one day I will take one in. I had a boxer and sadly we had to give her away due to a very serious work problem we faced which has fortunatley been resolved. I know a lot about the Newf however I was wondering how they show theyre affection. Online I always hear gently giant. My boxer was a cuddler and lickaholic that woul just lick and slobber on you all day Im sure you know this). Are newfs at all this way. Thankyou! Enjoy your Newfs!!!

i lost my nerves when arthy (my newfie) was a puppy. you will only read about the good sides of them (are there any other sides? ) but they are really a handfull when babies. the want to have a taste of everything they see and always want company. but it is well worth it when you come home from work and see a giant bear so happy to see you! one thing is for sure, when it comes to showing love, they are really the best!!! loyal, proud and they will do anything to please and protect you! the BEST!

OMG! I have an older (male) Newf and a boxer-mix pup and this is EXACTLY what goes on in my house all day! And when they are in the yard, if the pup wanders too far, the Newf first comes to the door and barks and warn/call me, then runs and "herds" the puppy back home.

One i know of saved a kid from drowning another one His owner couldnt go anywhere it would find him remember seeing bill running by so many times 2 min after his car passed lol ...definatly smart dogs, webbed foot wonders

MAddie looks pretty much exactly like my girl Teddy. Teddy had a white patch on her chest, thats the only difference. Also where are ya from? i want a new dog but one we have no fence out side and two i dont have the couple grand to buy one.

We recently added a young kitten to the household.For the past month, our 2.5 Yr Newfoundland has been trying to get the cat to stay-put so he can sniff/paw/play. He has finally realized(just in the last day) that in order for this to happen he has to remain nearly motionless and let cat come to him.

A couple of hours ago the cat strolled-up to him and rubbed against his head. The dog did not move one inch, but you should have seen the tail wag; do your heart good.
