Borrego's towing capacity of 7,500 lbs is impressive. People who buy full-size SUV's often need to tow something in the back, such as a trailer or a boat. If you don't need the towing capacity, you would be better off in a minivan.
I think Borrego is a great value for its functionality: seven-seater with a powerful engine.
I have this SUV as a rental & I'm quite impressed with its handsome good looks, capable engine, seating capacity, & options. As Hyundai & Kia take on the Japanese car manufacturers by offering sweet cars with attainable pricing, it's difficult for me to say that the Koreans have caught up, if not surpassed their competition. The only negative is their resale value...once their reputation for build quality is witnessed by the masses, then they will be a force to be reckoned with, most def!
One of the best selling SUVs of all time? In the US prior to the opening of the US market perhaps, in the world I don't think so. Ford only sold some 50 thousand Explorers in 2009 that's like a tenth of how many they sold in 2000.
This is not a crossover fagget, this is a real truck that can bring your toys on the road and in the water. I own a Kia borrego V8 and I tow a 6000 pound Regal 2250 2009/prestige trailer combo. Believe me that on red light, I follow or ahead of traffic. Fuel economy if amazing. I owned 3 pathfinders before. I use to worship Nissan V6 but Kia is a mile ahead for many reasons, wake up Nissan !! for fuel economy and reliability and warranty is outdated.......
i have this car and let me tell you it has its ups and downs. it is luxirious when you get the extra perks like seat warmers and leather interior but its still missing extra room in the third row and the suspension in the back is poor, recently i rented a toyota siena and the suspension felt much better then the kia borrego. i.m seriously thinking of exchanging it soon. hopefuly this comment doesn't have an impact of the price in this car. lol.
Siena is a boring school bus....... do not compare with a Kia borrego, please. You are problably made the wrong choise for your needs. BTW , what are you needs ?
Don't get me wrong. I think this is a great SUV for people who want a three-row SUV with a punchy V-6 or V-8 power that can tow.
But does it not seem like Kia didn't try very hard in other ways? The interior and exterior are bland, and aside from best in class towing the rest of it doesn't really grab you.
I'd still give it a hard look, but I am just saying.
I sat in a fully loaded Borrego a month ago. I was quite surprised. It wasn't any Lexus, but for $32K (dealership was offering a lot rebate), it was good.
Aspen was designed when Chrysler was part of Daimler. Kia's chief designer was Audi's chief designer. It's hardly surprising the front of this looks like Aspen's front.
I don't understand why always in reviews for a Kia Mohave they say the market does not want such a big SUV. But on Nissan Armada or other Huge SUV's from more known manufacturers, they always say how huge the engine is and how good it is. I don't know why they are doing this... Kia is a great car. and its engines are very economical. Nothing like those American Brutes like the GMC Yukon and Chevy Caprice. But no one says that their engine is too big does it?
well.. you have to accept the fact that Korea is getting better day by day. You have to realize that Korea has become bigger and better in recent years. Look at Samsung tvs, LG mobilephones, Singers like TVXQ or Se7en , boa who came to US debut their single, and now Hyundai, Kia cars.
You are so stupid. You really are blind arnt you? Ford is one of the big 3 and needed the bailout package money so badly. They would of gone bamkrupt without it.
@Porsche7905 umm,Ford never took a bailout from the US government. Only GM and Chrysler did. Ford saw what was happening, and sold Jaguar, and Land Rover.
Yes Hyundai bought KIA but i think that KIA has a far wider range in vehicle choices than Hyundai. and design. It is more flexible. I like it more... But all KIAs use Hyundai engines...
horrorfreak889 not one this you said is true ford is pretty much the american automaker that won't go bankrupt, fords are sighty better then toyota in overall quality
I would take a kia over a ford anyday...anyone who still buys a ford clearly does not pay attention. Ford is bankrupt...their cars get the WORST reviews.
Then let's hope Ford can come up with a little better effort in making a much more modern engine for it's Explorer, this is one of the main areas of criticism in the recent Senatorial confrontations with the automakers! One Senator raised the issue of the V6 Explorer Engine (4L) as being the same basic engine as Ford had originally put into the MAVERICK in the 70's, but now the difference being fuel injection!
I dont think the pathfinder will offer you as much for the same money. With the KIA you get 10 Speaker 750 watt Infinity sound system. DVD navigation... Air suspension, 4.6 V8 for the higher model. Huge LED backlights
Noooooo waaaayyyyy. I owned 3 pathfinder before. I tow a 6000 pound boat and the real problem with the pathfinder is that the rear end drop by 3 inches or more under tow. The driving is way more difficult. I drove many trips with this setup. Kia Borrego V8 is a hit with 1500 payload instead of 1100 with the path. And without a load off a red light it is in the mid 7 ses 0-60 mph... this is impressive.
I completely agree with the guy reviewing it - who would buy this over a crossover? How many people actually tow and need a body-on-frame? It is ridiculous.
We're getting one today :D

Explorer is good, but do not estimate the Borrego.
As an owner of 3 Kias (Including Borrego)
V8 4.6 has a class leading towing capacity
5 star crash safety rating at Euro Ncap. Not some fake American test stuff. If you get 5 stars in Europe, then this is a good achievement.
All safety features including 8 air bags and rollover sensors come standard
10 Speakers Infinity sound (Do i have to compare
Check my Borrego review to see more. I also have the LED taillights which aren't available in US

bg1379: There will always be a need for high towing capability and some people do need to go off road. Not that many but some.

There will always be a need for them, but just a very little demand, especially with gas prices being inconsistent.
