  • thanks! just did it right now. Now I can give a less shitty acer aspire to my brother after this and buy a new one for me.

  • i have an AA1 kav60 model, i can just pop off a cover in the back and change mine. it currently has a 1 gb ram stick. i see how you got 1.5 gb of memory, but how can i? if i have 512mb soldered to the mainboard, plus my 1gb, that is 1.5gb. i ran the test on crucial.com and it said my max memory is 1.5GB, and current is 1GB. so how do i add the 512?

i googled the acer aspire one kav60 max ram and it says 2GB. however the crucial test said 1.5 was max. any ideas?

  • Can you drop a 2gb stick in this model?

  • @triad762 Nope

  • @eried

Can we upgrade to windows 7 with an ssd and two gb ram?

  • @triad762 go for the Acer Aspire One 722 you can get up to a max of 4gb RAM!!! :D

  • @TheAnonymousNetworkx Check out my video where I upgrade my 722 in less than 60 seconds to 4GB ram1

  • @murraydiversity okay :D

  • does a 4gb RAM work my laptop is at a computing shop just now and they said it will work am i getting scammed???

  • alothhhhh of work do

  • ho my god.. i think i will throw it away and buy a new one...

  • Very good tutorial!

Convinced me NOT to try to replace my HDD with a SSD though - these things are not designed to be easy to modify...

  • Nice video but Acer should be boycotted or making it so difficult to switch ram. It takes 60 seconds on an Asus.

  • i watched the vid then was like ill go buy a 4gb ram for it and then i got came back to the vid and read the descrition about the 1gb thing i FAIL

  • @oliverh090 haha yes... but I doubt about if Acer makes this model anymore. Newer netbooks should support 4 gigs

  • managed to upgrade both ram and ssd... kick ass performance. thanks for the video... the bubble tips are nice, well timed.

  • @sridhardrao Thanks!

  • Is an ESD Bracelet necessary for this? or will a mat do. Thanks

  • @FlannabanV2 I don't think so, at least if you don't touch directly some parts.

  • ok...for some reason my new chip isn't working....so discouraging after dismantling everything and then putting it back together..but the old chip works...weird...any suggestions?

  • @beastb83 mmm... it might be a tons of reasons, it will be better to try different brands of ram

  • hello

i have question about my acer aspire 7551-5358

    im trying to upgrade ram

    is ok to use?

    NEW Corsair 4GB Ram DDR3 204-PIN CMSG4GX3M1A1333C9

    thank you

  • @a2z2home Download Everest application and see the SPD values for your current ram.

  • Wow is that a computer? HOW COME ITS SO SMALL AND FLAT? WTF? Wheres the chassi!? and the monitor?!?!?!IS THIS SOMETHING NE??W??

  • @eried

WTF IS THAT ITS S OCOOL WHAT IS IT?!

  • @Hallgren95 uhm?¡

  • @Hallgren95 ummm a laptop?

  • @thereahmed netbook

  • What?? 1.5GB RAM max?? Is this for all Aspire One user??

    T_T

  • @TheRino2009z For the old version, yes.

  • @eried oh..so, not for the aspire one D255?

  • @TheRino2009z No, this is the 150

  • @eried Oh, ok, tx..

  • I think I have the same model (zg5). any idea how to change the drive? I bought one but it was a 2.5 which was wat too large. would apperciate any help thanks

  • wqhy not just remove the two screws on the back and use the SERVICE door to replace ram ???????? WTF buddy ?

  • @ThroughMyEye Because the first acer one does not have those 2 screws. The back door is only for an expansion for networking 3g or wifi (I don't remember)

  • If i upgrade the memory, can i put more memory into the video card? Because mine is too slow because the video card... :(((

    Thanks

  • @mrmarciocruz I am not sure, but with more ram everything works better :)

  • Comment removed

  • I own the same one you have in this video.I gave it to my daughter and some how she managed to make the net book work slow and sound like the matrix.(very laggy)

I tried the windows restore but would not work. Then I noticed the acer recovery on the program tap.Now every thing is back to when it was purchased and working fine.

I have virtual DJ 6 installed on it and works fine.

  • @djwizo5000

its your fault!!! NEVER GIVE THESE KIND OF WONDERS TO LITLE GIRLS!

  • Thanks for the great instructional video in fast motion! I guess it would have been just to easy for manufacturer to put a freakin' door/panel in for the mem card!!!

  • @garwatch yeah

  • THE BEST SITE I TRYED (WW W. IMPROVEYOURPC .CO .UK)

  • im assuming this voids the warranty?

  • @MEbeas89 Probably

  • name of song?

  • @KoichiXx Don't know, is from AudioSwap library

  • @KoichiXx Not sure, is from Audioswap library

  • can anyone tell me where can i find a youtube downloader? is the one from aletrvista a good one ( for windows xp) ? or safe?? thank you!! :)

  • @LivingInTheDMZ96 I use this one i found on cnet.com

  • @theultimaterockr thank you!!

  • Can you upgrade CPU or Video Card on Acer Aspire One, if you can wright me back please.

  • @ExRools No, you can't.

  • I have an Acer Aspire One D150. I took it apart to try to apply a cooling mod (L-shaped aluminium fins) that I saw on another vid. Everything went nice and smooth until I put it back together... For some reason it doesn't start. I mean that if I press the power button nothing at all happens. I have reopened it several times to check if I had forgotten something, maybe a ribbon connector, but nothing at all. I have no idea what to do.

  • @bignik05 Very hard to say with that information

  • Can you put 2 gigs in an aspire one laptop what is the most ram you can put in one? and I would like to see one with a cd Rom Drive if someone can put a mod video for the aspire one.

  • @mrbzworld Nop, in this model the max is 1,5 GB (1+0,5 internal)

  • Why do they have to make this so complicated..

  • @brandonscherrer Yeah :(

  • Why don't all netbook makers put 3 compartments in the bottom, one for ram, one for HHD/SSD, and one for wireless/3G so people can upgrade easily???!!!

  • @MagnusVideos This is an older Acer One model

  • @MagnusVideos The reason is that if you start having a bunch of compartments in the bottom of the netbook it will make it unstable and it will bend so much that it could damage any internal part.

  • @jakenocera if you follow this video you will have nearly stripped down your whole laptop, so yes you will have broken the warrenty.

  • Very cute ;)

  • is the reason why you get a blue screen on windows vista and 7 is because you don't have enoguh ram on the acer a150 ? my one seems to keep doing it and i only have 1gb can you help me over come this

  • easy and awesome, thanks a ton!!!

  • nevermind, i didnt saw the whole clip :)

so the rambank is already taken, with a 512Mb. stick, and 512Mb. onboard if i get that correctly.

  • hi everyone, can someone tell me,

i have this neat thingy myself, and i want to upgrade also with an extra stick of ram :)

but the question is, it has already 1Gb. of ram,

if i put 1 stick of 1Gb. extra would i have 2Gb. or just 1.5Gb. and lets hope if the rambank isnt taken already, cuzz i see models with only 512Mb. out there also.

thx peepz for the help :)

  • What the hell was ACER thinking regarding the RAM upgrade process?!? I bought mine on ebay with the upgrade already done! No one should go through this when buying this new and wanting to add RAM to improve performance!

  • @gent11763 if you have the 10inch not 9 it is on the out side beside the HD.

  • This review is on the 8.9 inch edition, which is what I have. But thanks for the info...at least ACER came to their senses on this point.

  • My biggest computer nightmare, i am not a good computer fixer but it was very hard. didnt manage to put it back again into one piece. the keyboard was destroyed becouse i couldnt fit it back on. so now my acer is put away for good. and i never ever again gonna open a computer again. not worth the risk i think. Gonne order a new computer. and btw i did not open it to increase memory. it was to fix internett connection that lost power. to all other computer fixers, good luck

  • You can buy the keyboard as spare part in ebay

  • Ah ebay, that might work, found some keyboards for a nice price. mayby find new memory and new screw drivers. second try to fix acer. But the screws on the acer is like the bolts in a safe, but mayby this time it work. Anyway, thanks for the ebay info, and your video is very good source of info.

  • the screws are so hard to get off, arghh. not as easy as in this movie, i can assure you. or atleast my acer is a tough one.

  • You need a nice screwdriver

  • @eried he needs a BIGGER screwdriver, usually when I can't remove a screw I change-up to a bigger screwdriver that allows for more torque and it comes right out.

    peace!

  • Name of the soundtrack ...puuuuhhhlllleeeaaazzzeee

  • Voila! I did it. It was tricky and not fast, but not difficult.

Everything is working fine. Don't fear dudes, do it. ;)

Next step is to upgrade from slow SSD to fast CF card.

  • I like the soundtrack.

  • It is from Google's library :D

  • is this under the warranty?

  • Yes, for a year, I did not broken any seal or sticker. But Not anymore. It is a 2-year machine and I selled it ;)

  • extremely intelligent of acer to not bother with a compartment cover on the bottom =\

  • Were do you live? I live in SC and the one i am using has a memory door that you only need to take out 1 screw and then take out the old memory and put the new in and then put the door back on.

  • i was talking about the laptop in the video, the memory is clearly in a position that all it should need is a door, but there is no door so they had to do all of that crap to upgrade the memory

  • This video is from 2008. It is almost the first Acer One model (A150)

Newer models comes with a small door for the ram.

  • its easier on the newer ASPIRE.

  • whats the maximum it can go up to because i heard that it can go up to 2GB is there no way of goin higher than that?

  • No in the A150 model. Mayve in newer models

  • 1.5 gig of RAM on the older 8.9 inch screen models, as demonstrated here.

  • We have the Acer Aspire One D250 (ultra-thin version) and I was planning to follow this video for installing my 2GB module. I flipped the Netbook over and saw a door! Took the door off and there was the old RAM. Just popped the old one out, put the new one in, and closed the door. Whoo-hoo! Much better! :)

  • Yes :)

  • uh... Cant you just use the easy access panel on the back of the acer aspire one? on mine all you have to do is unscrew 4 screws and put in the RAM... but mine came with 1 GB so it may be a different model

  • It worths for me that year :)

  • excelent tutorial, had to do one of these at work the other day and the guide really helped, though I didnt need to remove the daughter card or the 2 screws on the top left, managed to squeeze the mainboard out without removing.

Annoyingly I didn;t realise 2Gb RAM wouldnt work (or that the memory was in the hardest place!) but I got a 1Gb DIMM working nicely, great vid! First time around took me about 30min to get to the RAM, but by the end of the day I got it down to an art!

    Good vid 5/5

  • Cool, thanks

  • I found another tutorial similar to what you're saying and it worked OK for me too. I slipped in a 1GB so now I have 1.5 total.

  • that's quite a bit of work for a memory upgrade. luckily i purchased the AO751h model. up to 2gb of ram and a easy ram access door on the bottom/back; not to mention it has a LED LCD screen :p

  • i dont think this is worth the most likely 30-40 minute process

  • For Windows Vista it worth (performance 1GB vs 1.5GB)

  • For XP though, as I do not plan to upgrade to Vista or 7 (save the money for my desktop) would the 1 GB suffice?

  • i just upgraded my aspire one to windows 7, its great ! you should try it out !

  • can someone help me out the other month i had a major league crash and had to restore to system defaults and i left my usb mouse plugged in when i did this and now my touch pad dosen't work hell the left and right buttons also don't work when i go to try to reactivate it. it says it's working properly but in reality it's not working at all can some one help me out tell me how to restore it i would love to use my touch pad again sometime soon it's driving me nuts i've tried everthing i know

  • is your touchpad still broken

  • so whats hatch on the bottom for ?

  • I had the same question and after watching this video I have no freakin´ idea

  • For the 3g module ¬¬

  • do u mean i cant upgrade this into 2GB RAM??

  • Nope, but newer models support 2gb

  • shit, the keyboard part makes me annoyed

  • wtf X( myne is easier and thank good d250 is much more easier

  • yes, this is the first generation of acer one

  • I think i'll pass lol

  • too much hassle to add just another 512MB of memory..

  • Yeah :(

  • if i upgrade it to 10gb..

are these might speed the game when play it?

  • I don't play any game

  • To all you out there trying to upgrade .. more power to ya. But as far as warranty is concerned, if u disassemble/ assemble the unit flawlessly ( meaning ,no broken screws, perfect rubber legs.ha ha ) ur warranty's still good! If they see all these knicks, broken srews, espeially ribbon connectors that will affect the performance of the netbook ,etc. warranty's done ! You're gonna buy another (aspire) ONE! he heh. So be carefull! just an observation with all these tutorials on the tube!

  • Damn, I was a little bit too fast on the keyboard and touchpad, and I ripped out the connector cable.. Is there anyway I can attach the cables back to the little black thing on the bord, or am I screwed? :(

  • Maybe you can search for a replacement in ebay

  • mine came with 1 gig straight out of the box

  • Mine too, but I wanted 1.5 GB

  • dude...the time is takes to do this, you could have built a new netbook... seems almost not worth effort considering the rewards....

  • Does this void your warranty?

  • from the look of it errrrm YES!

I'd be f'kin amazed if it didn't lmao

  • No self upgrading ram neaver voids yur warranty

  • I think this Acer One wasnt upgradeable without voiding the warranty.

  • The song used is called Lotus - Spiritualize.

  • Post the link for download the music please

  • that wasnt as hard as i thought

  • hahah xD

  • Great Video. I'm just saving up the nerve to do my own upgrade. One little mis-alignment and I'm toast.

  • This is terrible!. I could never have the nerves to do all that just to add some ram. I am getting the Acer Aspire 6920G next week, i hope it's not as complicated as this model, if it is, i won't be touching it. Well done on your patience with this and thanks for posting!.

  • hi, anyone knows if i can add a 2gb RAM? Cos in the description it says "Inside this laptop there is a 512 MB ram soldered in the mainboard, so you can only add a PC4200 533 Mhz 512 MB / 1024 MB module."

  • unfortunately u can only put 1 1gb stick of 5300 (or 5400) and there is already 1 stick of 512 in there so u only gain 512( that is if u have the 1gb netbook)

    WARNING: NOT FOR NOOBS

  • Acer should have their ass kicked for designing something like this. This guy knew what he was doing and was working at 4x speed. That would translate into three hours at my pace,

  • Yeah, I took nearly 40 minutes in the video at normal speed

  • Wow..never thought it would be THAT complicated just to upgrade RAM on my Acer Aspire One. I was thinking previously of upgrading, but after watching this....I am hesitating.

    Nevertheless, great video man!

  • hahaha but I worth, with 1.5 gigs Win7 runs nice

  • Comment removed

  • hey, i have an acer aspire one, 8GbSSD, and i installed the 1 gb ram, but it wont recognize the ram =/ what should i do =(

  • Read specs before upgrading

  • yeah that sucks dude, i hate having to do stuff like that, especially when theres multiple layers in the equipment

  • WOW im glad i got the nb205 instead of this

  • Is there 2 gig sticks for the aspire one yet?

I upgraded to 1.5 gigs a while ago. and got vista running on it. it runs great.

  • Nope, but newer models support 2 gigs

  • Acer made it so easier to upgrade RAM on AOD250.

  • Yes, this video is about the A150

  • this just goes to show that i have the simpliest way of doing this.....throw it off a cliff. im not sure if it will work again but dam it would look cool.

no, but in all seriousness, this complicated procedure just shows how retarted the Acer engineers are....hahahaha, they fail. make a door for the RAM next time dumb asses

  • brought ram, watched vidio,

next day took it to pc world and paid them £14.99 to fit it.

much easier watching them struggle for an hour. works great now with 1.5 gig ram

  • the aod250 you just flip it over and with one screwdriver change out the RAM to a max of 2GB.

    EZ

  • Good for you?

  • good for all d250 owners, esp. me

  • excellent vid but a little too much work for a netbook.

    from a proud aod250 owner

  • no manches, hay q desarmar todo, solo para cambiarle la memoria, como que debio traer un compartimiento como las laptops normales, para que sea rapido pero bueno, chidas notebooks

  • estupendo muy bueno es ver a uno con ese oficio

  • Hey thanks for the video :D Do you know it now supports 2 gigs?

  • As far as I know it supports up to 2 GB.

  • hi eried!!!, i want to know your opinion about the acer aspire one, is the best netbook? i know the acer spire one its the perfect combination between functionality and cost, but i want to know other options, for example Toshiba have good netbooks but im not sure, thank you for your time...(Im not american, im speak spanish, just one thing more mmmm please use easy languaje in your answer jajajja, thank you again!!!!

  • Yo también hablo español, realmente no se que netbook es mejor. Me gusta mi Acer.

  • fuckin acer shit! for the same price i could get a eee 1000 with bluetooth, wifi N, 10" display, overclockable processor, and easy upgradable RAM up to 2GB and fuckin 4,5 hours of battery life instead of 2!

  • :( yes

  • lol its funny how you think eee is a good computer system. and they swamped it with that crap to cover up the terrible life of the computer and bad rep.

you better stick to well known names like HP or Asus

  • good god, I wonder how many pennies Acer saved by not including an easily removable flap underneath to facilitate easier upgrading of RAM???

That's got to be the hardest RAM upgrade I've ever seen on a portable.

Given the max is only 1.5GB and they provide 1GB already, maybe they should have just soldered in the 1.5GB total and be done with.

  • lol! that's what i was about to say

  • The default amount of ram is 512 MB

  • They couldn't ship a unit greater then 1 GB of Ram. Part of a contract agreement to have XP on these units. Microsoft agreed to provide support provide RAM was limited to 1 GB, otherwise they would have had VISTA on it instead (this was for all webtop manufacturers at the time-See Wikipedia for a detailed explanation). Purchasers were given the option to expand after purchase, which was what I did at th vendor that sold my unit to me on ebay.

  • what model is it

  • Acer One A150 HDD

  • I am just wondering how come our WIndow Experience index for the WINDOWS AERO GRAPHICS is way different. Mine only got 2.2 but you have 3.9.

  • Install Intel drivers, from intel website

  • Well?

    Please?

  • Just plastic

  • What about taking a dermel tool or even a razor knife to create a door for the memory? Looking @ the video and the bottom piece of plastic, the memory is located to the right of the fan hump?

Is the bottom covered in a metal shield? I cant see it that well.

If it is the razor knife will be the only way in.

I know I can do it with a dermel in about 5 minutes razor knife about 20 minutes.

Yes I know it will void the warranty but taking the dammed thing apart will too.

  • Yeah, you can also add more ventilation holes with that dremel, because this thing is HOT

  • Right so is the bottom piece have metal / aluminum ? Or is it just plastic?
