  • In most of her performances, Guleghina gives us a moment or two on some high note or other when the razor blade in her throat becomes fully exposed. Here, it happens at 3.50.

  • Ghena Dimitrova,Renata Tebaldi,Eva Marton...

  • Thank G-d the cellist is hot...

  • @altodivo lol love it

  • @altodivo

HA~! thought I was the only one that noticed :D

  • Just...no.

  • Brava!

  • This aria is very difficult but if a lyric soprano like Carol Vaness (known for her perfect Mozart) can sing it well, than other lyric sopranos could. This role calls for lyrico spinto and Leontyne Price is the winner for this aria. Guleghina has vocal problems in this. Her Verdi is unpolished but she use her big voice to great effect, especially for Lady Macbeth (not in recent performances however). Her voice is going downhill fast!

  • Oh my god, 3:46 was a hot mess. Was it even the right note? And those who pointed out her vibrato problems are 100% right. Her vibrato is so uncontrolled it causes her to mess up the phrasing. She's loud enough to be heard, but...would you want to hear it?

  • @FoggyRoad81 bwha ha ha - I just love this comment

  • @FoggyRoad81 She did have trouble trying to hit that high B-flat pianissimo. She had a lot of trouble around 3:28 also. Her main problem is she needs to relax. Also, there are just no great Verdi singers left. Leontyne Price was the last of the great Verdians. Sondra Rod____something is pretty good, but other than that....

  • @htshoward I beg your pardon Aprile Millo is a GREAT verdian.. she sings the hell out of this role, and Verdi in general.. fabulous soprano voice.

  • @kgarmaker123 I THOROUGHLY AGREE!!!! So sorry.....how could I have forgotten Aprile???!!! I love the woman. Excellent Verdian. Thank you for correcting me.!

  • I like it!!

  • Where's her neck...?

    :-)

  • The woman needs a massage to relieve the tension in dem shoulddaz

  • @CatalinaDM56 LOl stop!

  • THANK YOU for sharing this BEAUTIFUL interpretation of Pace, Pace Mio Dio. Beautiful Voice. She knows what she is singing. I can see the pain ..suffering on her face..I love her style. THANKS. Enjoy it A lot.

  • Horrible! The worse! Weird vibrato, Italian is embarrassing and the worse "In van la pace" EVER! OUTRAGE!!!

  • Not enough breath spinning sometimes in the higher registers she stops the breath.

  • what was that at 3:46!? :o!!! a big bass mouth fish?:D otherwise, once again too manipulative to the vocal phrase. Maybe if her vibrato wasn't so out of control.

  • Yikes. I see what you mean!!

  • durchschnittlich... : (

  • Quite a lot of fast, fluttery vibrato too.. along with failure to attend to dynamics.

  • as Grace Bumbry would say "too thick...TOO THICK."

  • You can clearly tell that she had been working vocally! Her intonation had improved majorly as well as the purity of her attacks. She had also considerably decreased muscle tension! Brava!

  • Sorry.... too LOUD!!!

  • It's not a matter of being loud at all! Dimitrova with 10 times more volume than her sang it wonderfuly. This thing about 'being loud' it's a trend that is being passed over and over by teachers in university across north america and the result is there are NO big voices coming out of these institututions. All the big voices come grom Russia or Europe. This is VERDI, the orchestra is massive. A small voice cannot even sing cherubino, let alone VERDI. It's all about using dynamics properly.

  • That doesn´t have anything to do with my comment. If you´re going to sing such an aria where Verdi wanted PIANISSIMI... 4 to be exact and you´re going to sing that LOUD... there´s no point of listening to it. I know what you´re talking about. The point is, this woman, which has a nice voice, sings everything too loud and sometimes flat. And... this aria isn´t about singing loud.

  • YOU ARE ABSOLUTELEY TRUE IN THIS COMMENT. ADD THE UK TO THE LIST .There NO voices are spared the choral over blown windy technique. Hummers there. Only on the Continent there is attention to real singing.

  • It is a beautiful voice but I prefer Dimitrova and Harken. Harken has a huge voice and lots of color it reminds me of Dimitrova. She is not the standard coming out of universities I think she is European. There are no others that I know of that are real dramatics. Gulighina still is very good!

    Your right!

  • i love the way she sings this with such a passion...

Belle prestation !!!

  • I like her very much ! Nice voice. I saw her once singing AIDA with Lorin Maazel here in Brazil (concert) and was just amazing !

Santa Dimitrova resta in pace!!!!

  • BRAVISSIMA -- COME SEMPRE!!!!
