The only reason some people think Archie made this song weird is because it's not his type of song. Cook suggested this song to the producers knowing full well that his voice has that same edge as Kroeger's, giving him an advantage, and thus stealing the spotlight.It's suppose to be a duet, not a victory song for Cook.

I think that the emphasis on david cook here is made on purpose, it simply suits his voice and style much more. It is still a nice performance and don't see it as a battle, but rather as a D.A. doing backing vocals on D.C. and it is not how you judge who's better, they are just such a different vocals and it is hard to compare. We'll se who'll get better in the long run. So far, D. Archuleta

Very good. David Cook does good at this song with his strong voice. Not as good as Nickelback, of course, but impressive.  David Archuleta doesn't have the voice for this song. The high notes Archuleta put in ruin the song. You have to have a very strong, low voice for this song.
