Saw Raul sing a week ago, But cannot agree with Mavericks getting back together. I could be wrong, but he really seemed to enjoy what he is doing now. I didn't sense he had the feeling for the Maverick tunes ( he did three, I think), but he seemed to enjoy more what he was doing with the rest of the show. The show was marvelous. I was lucky enough to be in a place that holds 200 to 250 people ( my best guess). If you get a chance, don't miss him.

There are so many talentless idiots that get awards all the time-such as Toby Keith (ugh) and many others in country now days. I totally agree. He can sing songs by the greatest singers of all time: Presley, Orbison, Robbins, Sinatra, Dino, Eddy Arnold, Jim Reeves and totally sing versions as well as the orginals while not copying them, sounds totally like himself - yet captures what was great about the original version and never changes the song so much that it loses the classic sound and orignal spirit. I don't know of another artist around today that can do that. He's equally as good as any of the best of all time

Raul is a great singer but I believe that his work with the Mavericks circa 2003 was his best work. Those guys were exciting, electric and played original material. Now Raul has assembled a cover band.
