This was a great storyline but what annoys me is when fans deem it as some sort of 'rescue'. Cindy was a good mother, just as much as Ian was a good father and where Cindy could be a bad character, Ian could also be bad in a different way. The BBC insulted the audiences judgement at times here, with us being forced to feel sympathy for a man like Ian purely on the basis that he was a long-term character.

nope it was indeed Lucy that stayed with Ian, when Cindy departed in October 1996 with the help of David Wicks and Barry Evans she couldn't get Lucy in time as she'd been sent home sick.
