I have been playing guitar over 40 years, I get complemented daily about my tone, and I have to tell you that is one of the best sounding rock setups I have ever heard in my life. That is Clear yet full and articulate, and great tasty drive... Congratulations on discovering a great combination... I have further questions my friend, here you are using the out board distortion and echo.. are you using any overdrive from the Fargen? Is it the box or the amp overdrive we are hearing?
Hey Awesomejohn just watched your stuff loved it! The Fargen is a gem. All of the tone is the fargen I used a duncan 59 low output pickup that is essential. I overdrive the amp till it has a little break up think Neil Young sound and back it off so it keeps its crunch and the bass doesnt get flubby and so you dont loose the chime and clarity.then add the plexitube on its lowest gain smooths the distortion and BROWN SOUND! The only problem is you can hear every mistake! lol
this is amazing - even eddy himself wouldnt be able to exactly reproduce his playing and sound recorded 20 years ago under the same circumstances as you did! Congrats!
Wow, after listening to Cold and Gray, I decided to check out this vid of yours. You have some serious skills about you man. Good job, and nice setup!
Thanks PavelP.Yeah I just used the right channel and converted that to stereo then ran my track mostly left. The plexitube I have running with the gain as low as it can go and some dirt from the amp.
I ran it through my marshall 2 12 cab that I loaded with vintage 30s.I tried the greenbacks but they break up a little too much for me the vintage 30s give you a little tighter bottom end crunch. The new ones seem to have more gain so you wouldnt need to push the pre amps with a overdrive like I do hope this helps cheers

Great tone!
How did you record it!
Are those Fargen Mini-Plex handwired" turret board" or do they use a PCB?
lidesnowi 1 year ago
This amp has the decade setting, so on the 80s mode do u really need the radial overdrive?

So are we hearing the Tonebone or the Fargen?

Well done, man! Love your tone and playing. What did you do for the backing? Just remove Eddy from the left?
Is the dirt all coming from the Plexitube?

Hi are you using the new miniplex MKI or the MkII? and which speakers are you using for this tone?
mxr2000 2 years ago
this miniplex is from 2006 its a MK1 I think

@raunchy123 Does this model have the decade switch, the 80s mode has a lot of gain so do u really need to push it with the radial drive box?
