  • this is much easier than the CA test

  • stop filming up your nose :)

  • Omg.. in Ontario you have to take a two day course and have a series of about a dozen very intensive tests, this is a joke

  • @valon18 sucks to be you hahah

  • No lie, the test here is kind of a joke, was watching these "bike tests in UK" vids, and then remembered my buddy who, the total idiot he is (though I didn't know, I knew NOTHING about bikes back then) he bought a bike, rode it first time for 2 days. Passed the test then drove down the west coast from washington to mexico. No gear, he was DAMN lucky, all he got was real bad sunburn because he rode shirtless for a whole day. He's a fucking idiot, I'm making sure he educates himself properly

  • I think if you guys take your test in Singapore, you'll fail every class.

  • great vids

  • y u didnt show ur bike :( i wanna c ur bike... :(

  • Also In California you dont even need to take the DMV test if you pass a certified training course...Im sure this applies to other states

  • NO This is NOT a "USA" test...In California it looks much harder..Every state will have their own test

  • that was the full test in the usa that is easy man in the uk its probably harder to do a cbt than that lol i think i,ll move to the us fuck it

  • Your joking me?

Is this the main bike test in america ?

  • @AtlasRider california is different

  • wait.. what? Its that easy in the US??

  • @Tiwoit Yep, it's this easy in the US

  • I just took my test this morning at the same place with the same dude! Thanks for the video because it helped me know what to do. I have my motorcycle license now!!!

  • @badddave Congrats! Cool dude eh? :)

  • seems strait forward :D

  • lol pop a wheelie

  • why did you have to retake it in Arizona if you already took it in Illinois.

  • @coloricanking When I got an AZ license they forgot to transfer the MC endorsement

  • @AtlasRider So why not argue that with the DMV?

  • I PLAN ON TAKING MY TEST SOON. WAS THAT TEST IN PHOENIX BY CHANCE?

  • @paintballhead03 ya I wonder the same NH

  • Nice

  • so for my first motorcycle license do i have to buy a bike first or will they lend me one. (florida)

  • Hey i got a question that stop u have to perform second to last part of test, is it just a basic stop like u would do if u were approaching a light or something? or is it emergency stop

  • @13BnikAs It is considered an emergency stop, although as long as you stop within the indicated lines you pass

  • @AtlasRider Thanks for the reply, got any tips on how to not be so nervous when taking the test haha =D

  • Thanks for the cool video. What video equipment did you use that caught both video and audio from within the helmet? Thanks.

  • @csev I use a VIO POV

  • wow thanks people like u are helpful to people like me

  • Very nice. Exactly what I was looking for! Thanks!

  • Thank you very much, next summer and it'll be me and a 2009 klr650. Can't wait!

  • The guy was confusing me D;

  • good upload

  • very helpful, just what i was looking for.

  • Tanks

  • wtf thata it lmao

  • Very helpful thank you

  • This is pretty much the same as the module one test we have here in the uk

  • Seems like a pretty standard test. The final exam in the MSF course here in Texas is pretty much the same. When you pass the class the driving test is waived.

  • in NC if i take the MSF class, it counts towards the road test, i just have to take written test great vid thx

  • hey man you are in phoenix? we should go ride together sometime man hit me up

  • In Canada it is more of a pain, first you get your M1 license which is a written test, then you get your M2 which if you take the motorcycle safety course over a weekend you graduate with your M2 which is good for 5yrs. and finally you do a road test in traffic, the examiner follows behind you in a car and gives you direction through earphones.

  • @fssdesigns Fuck that!

  • Awesome !

  • quick question if you're 18 or older do you need to take a written test as well? Even if I never got a motorcycle permit before? I also live in AZ

  • sketch...lol

  • Nice video you helped me a lot no iam not as nervice about my test.

  • The serpentine is the hardest, I have a large bike and I was able to get around those cones so anyone can do it, just practice. The longer the bike the slower you have to go and the harder you have to swing the handlebars. Just get comfortable cranking the handlebars all the way at really slow speeds without putting your feet down. It's actually, just practice, practice and practice. It's all about slow speed maneuvering. That's what makes it hard.

  • I took my skills test today at the same place with the same tester. He said it was really cold that day and he was sick, tester name is Rocky. I got a perfect score but then again Rocky gives everyone that passes a perfect score LOL. Motorcycle skill testing site is located on 25th Ave South of McDowell RD. You can only get to it from McDowell Rd. It's under the freeway. You need to practice making tight turns at an idle. Run premium fuel for better idle running.

  • my god that's a lot easier than the one i did

  • I haven't taken mine yet, but my friends dad took his down her in Louisiana, and the lady made him go down the road, turn around and come back and as long as he didn't break any rules or fall over he passed.

  • If you already passed the test, why did you have to retake it?

  • Hey, that was exactly what I've been wondering about, what would the test entail... Thanks so much for doing that video of your DMV test. You put my mind at ease. I think I should be able to do all the stuff you did with a little more practice. Many thanks, Jimmy

  • Is this the same for California??? I'm working on gettin my license out here soon. I just purchased an 89 Honda shadow.

  • @riosjason86 Unless they have changed recently, California does not use the ABATE skills test that most other states have... but the general skills are the same... they just seem to have a fascination for making circles... California DMV actually has a whole series of videos on their test here on youtube (just search) ... however if I remember right, you can simply take a MSF safety course and be exempted from the dmv test (although there is a test in the msf course)

  • Exactly the same test we do here in Australia :)

  • That test was ridiculous. All I had to do is drive up the street, turn around in the hotel parking lot (which wasn't visible to the DMV) and come back to the parking space. The test giver just waited on the sidewalk. Tennessee, man...

  • This is called mod1 in the UK off road test, very similar but seems to be conducted at a much faster speed. 50kph on the break and swerve (yes they check it). First time I tried it failed on the U turn too, went over the line.

  • cool I'm taking my test tomorrow in Illinois I'm so nervous I'm praying I'll pass!

  • It is not like this in Ontario Canada. One first has to take a vision and written test (2 part test, 1 for motorcycle stuff, 1 part for road signs) which is called an M1 license. Then within 60 days you have to pass an M2 test like this video shows, but it is more extensive. Third you have to wait 2 years (or 18 months if you do an MSF course) to do your road test and get your fulltime M license. We also have a 5 year graduated license scheme that comes with a whole different set of restrictions

  • Interesting. My test was done through the Harley Riders Edge program. It was similar but you have to take into account the person giving the test. Some are a bit more cranky so listen up when you take the test to how they want you to proceed, Mine liked you to stop after each test and did not help with where you supposed to go.

  • hey bro thanks, I'm taking mine Friday Sept. 17th. thanks.

    Javis

  • Excellent video. I also got my motorcycle endorsement at that location and took the same riding course.

  • Dude. I must say that this video is really great. I always seem to be doubtful of what I could accomplish, but watching from a first-person perspective along with commentary was extremely helpful.

Keep up the great work, man!!

  • Good man, but is that the full motorcycle test for one of the american states?!? Surely theres a theory test and an on road practical for 45 min and then your restricted to 33bhp for a further 2 years after that yeah?

  • @simon44 Here in Arizona USA you have to take a written test to receive a learners permit that allows you to ride only during the day and off highways. When your ready you pay the $7.00 fee and take the skills test in this video and if you pass (get less than 10 points) you get your license back with a wonderful Motorcycle endorsement on it like mine or you get a motorcycle license if you don't have a drivers license.

  • @simon44 LOL no, in America you take this test then go get your R1. Seriously.

  • Good info, thanks!!!

  • You should delete retarded comments from people like "jorgetellezperez" down there. In other news, thanks for this video. Now I KNOW I can do this, even easier than my driving test

  • Thanks for posting! Now I have an idea as to what to expect.

  • what a fuc*ing boring video.... try some wellies at 230 like me

  • is this highway patrol officer going to give you a felony for video taping him? lol, i think this is the same guy that got pulled over by an off-duty cop... sorry for what happened to you man

  • Good job Atlas! I got my motorcycle license this past monday!

  • After just passing the Module 1 skills test in the UK, I cant believe how bad that training area is. Compare it to the uk MMA and you'll see quite a diffence in training area size and quality. Glad you passed ok though.

  • place is so dirty.. those pebbles/sand could possibly cause some troubles...

  • This was such a helpful video on what to expect. I'm taking my test within 9hrs. I need to be sleep...LOL But I took the MSF class. Not as easy as people think. When you see people constantly dropping bikes in front of you. Had my nerves all shooked up. But once you pull back on that throttle there is a sense of relief that riding really isn't hard its the other people on the road that is hard. Thanks for the video :)

  • getting my permit today. so this will be helpful when it comes down to the skills test. thanks for taking the time to help us out. you rock

  • could you tell me what the difference is between a motorocycle endorsement and a motorcycle licence???

  • @rottenpeaches92 There is no difference. They are one in the same.

  • @AtlasRider I was asking because my states motorcycle manuel say you only have to pass the written test for an endorsement but you have to pass written, driving, and vision tests for a licence???

  • @rottenpeaches92 Hum...I'm not sure then. Perhaps there is a distinction I'm unaware of.

  • @AtlasRider Ok, well thanks anyway

  • @AtlasRider they are the same, just a endorsement goes on a normal drives licence, while the actual licence says just class m instead of class d,m

  • @rottenpeaches92 Illinois has a written exam and a skills test. They are separate exams, for the written test you can usually stop my your local DMV and get a pamphlet / small booklet of information that you are required to know to pass the written test.

  • @rottenpeaches92 a endorsement is were you can ride alone without anybody els with you. you have to pass this test and the written test for an endorsement a licence is when you go to the dmv and take just the written test witch allows you to ride with another endorsement rider for a couple of months

  • @scottm989

Well I passed me written test 100% and i have my endorsment, but on the back of my licence it has a restriction saying I can ride as long as im within in sight of a licenced driver (car or motorcycle) 21 years or older, I have to wait 30 days then I can take my riding test, and if I pass they take the restrition off, and then Im licenced to drive a motorcycle. SSSOOOO in the end its just a really long and extremely boring and complicated process that is totally worth it. The End.

  • @rottenpeaches92 i know this is from 7 months ago, but in ohio, my state, you only need to pass the written test for your temporary license and the driving portion for the license.

  • dont u have to do a written test to?

  • @ZachX7R Good luck!

  • wow no road ride?

  • @darkmetallica

ignore that i just read someone elses question an your answered it... that's awesome!

  • thanks alot it help i want my bike licens

  • wow i really wish my test was as easy and stress free as this was...In quebec, canada I had to do the written test(as do all), then and harder skills test than this one: stressed because there was an audience of 20 ppl in line, the coutersteering test was harder because it was random(there was a signal that pointed either left or right), and there were about two or three additional tests in all. Finally i had to do the road test (omg...), longest 50 mins of my life with the guy following in a car

  • IL exam is a bit less tough than the Vietnam exam I saw on TG.

Doesn't look difficult, but on the other hand w/o lane splitting - you eliminate pretty much 90% of the needed techniques.

  • in CAli its different

  • are u riding a ninja 650 ?

  • I just took the michigan motorcycle skills and it is the exact same as in this video, I wont like I was nervous as can be about the test, because I only got to practice 1 time due to it raining for 2weeks straight, but on the days it was raining I would watch this video. All in all Thanks for the post of the actual test.

  • @foxzts lie* and some added advise, dont overwork yourself it is alot easier than it looks, there was a guy before me that had never rode a bike in his like just bought the bike and passed it with only a 3 point deduction for hitting a cone on the weave, but he admited he was really nervous also, so be calm and dont look at the cones and you will do just fine.

  • That was cool...I am taking the class and will get a card to show :) That makes me less nervous...I just got my BC today so that I can switch to a new state when I get my license IN A WEEK!!! can you tell i am soo excited??? lol

  • You get to choose your own swerve direction? On our test they use lights and speed sensors. If you're travelling the correct speed, a light turns on right before the swerve telling you what direction you have to take (to make it more realistic). You lose points if you swerve the wrong way or if you don't go the correct speed (in which case the light won't even turn on).

  • I got my endorsement in Florida and all they needed to see was my MSF BRC completion card. Great video for new riders. Ride safe my friend.

  • Excellent video Dude,... you're the best. Thanks

    (Washington DC)

  • thanks for uploadin this so i now wat to expect , i think ill be ridin(next year) on the permit for awhile before i take this

  • thanks man tghis helps alot

  • omg thats al you have to do :o

in the netherlands u have 2 do 2 more test and this one and there isnt a MSF course 2 swing around it :( here u have to answer 60 questions and arnt allowed to have more wrong than 6 so that isnt 2 hard and a half hour road test they arnt more difficult than this test but we have to do all 3 DOH :P

  • I thought for sure you would have a road test, it's the same exact here in hawaii though. Luckily I took my test with my kawi 250 x3 nice and light easy to pick up in the u-turn, unlike the other person that was testing with me that ended up spilling his gsxr600 @_@ Kinda scared now that im on my cbr600 now xD

  • This is it??!! Nothing else? In Estonia, we have to go to a driving school (one that also teaches motorcycle riding), listen to about 20-30 hours of theory, ride at a closed track for 5-10 hours and in traffic for another 20 or so hours. Then we have to do the theoretical exam, practical exam, then go the DMV (we call it ARK) and do another theoretical AND practical exam. Oh, and you have to be 21 to ride anything more powerful than a 250cc.

  • THIS GUY IS WEIRD!

  • Thanks for posting!! I am a new driver and am looking into getting the endorsement. This was very helpful!

  • GJ Mr.Rider. Thanks for the video

  • man that looked really easy.. I wonder if we have the same one in GA.. I'm on a 600 but if it's anything like yours I should rock it... thanks for posting.. BTW glad to see you back riding after your fall

  • So when did you do this test and what is the licence endorsement? Looks fairly simple, presumably as long as you do as your told.

  • @zypp33 The license endorsement just means you get your motorcycle license

  • @zypp33 I believe endorsement implies you already have a driving license, just that you are adding the ability to drive a motorcycle to it. I have 2, wife has 3 or 4 endorsements (commercial/bus, motorcycle, car, etc...). That's why there is now road test, license already presumes you know the laws of the road, you just are only showing that you can physically control the motorcycle.

  • Congrat man. I'm about to take my test in Houston. Hope I will do fine . I've been riding for 5 years in South East Asia but never in the States.

  • I stopped to ask what was next. I had put my foot down to stop and ask her where to go next and she failed me for putting a foot down. It's such bullshit. I recommend doing it on a very small bike like a 250, or take the safety course and bypass the DMV entirely. Gee, I can navigate a racetrack and pass within a foot of other riders at triple digits but I can't make a figure 8 at 3 MPH. FAIL.

  • @msxxfast Yea it is totally ridiculous. They would be better off forcing people to go to the MSF.

  • @AtlasRider Where in AZ was this? Phoenix?

Also, it would be nice to know/see the bike. It is often easier to do these tests with a smaller bike because of all the low speeds. Not always easy for a novice.

  • @robertmoffatt It's in Phoenix, I just took the same test at the same location. I drive a Yamaha V-Star 950 with premium fuel I did most of the maneuvers with no clutch and no throttle, just idle. It's an 8.5Ft long bike and the weave cones are only 12ft apart and I was able to do it and I'm a novice with only two months of riding experience on my learners permit.

  • This test looks a lot easier than mine. I didn't pass the one in Vegas. I used my 600RR, the figure 8 was almost impossible--I had practiced beforehand. Yet I never made it that far because the route wasn't very clear so after I made it through the cones which were so close to one another you couldn't see the cones due to the fairings, but I did it.

  • woow that was much easier then mine.. i life in Amsterdam (Netherlands) and i did my skills test in Feb 2010. We have at least 7 tests (only if you do them perfect) but a bit more challenging skills.. like driving an "8" and going up to 50 km/h (30 mph) to a make emergency stop.

But do you also have a road test? (i like the vid btw.. ;) )

  • @2imaginary No road test. Just a 25 written test in addition to this.

  • @2imaginary My test in California was even easier.

  • @robertmoffatt Really?? wow i should life there then. I just finished the complete test.. 25 lessons / written test: 50 questions / skills test / road test (final)

We ride on 500 cc suzuki bike and i heard in the states the MSF is on a 250cc or 150cc?

  • That looked confusing as hell. Do you get to study the routes ahead of time? Most of the time I didn't understand what that dude was asking you to do.

  • That doesn't look too bad. Different than the MSF but certainly useful to have the guy out there directing you and you being the only person there. Also useful to have the camera to see what is needed. Thanks!

  • I wish i lived in the states. Just to ride a scooter you have to spend about 7 hours in a day doing your cbt, eurgh

  • wow that lot is way tighter than the one i took my msf course at

  • Good vid,

This isn't too far off from what we have to do here in British Columbia Canada.

I would consider ours a bit more challenging unfortunately.

  • Very nice, hopefully this will ease the nervousness of other beginning riders who freak out over taking the test.

Side note: You got a Bell Star? How do you like it so far?

  • I did. I lot it a lot. Video review to come soon.

  • This is the same as the IL test for those wanting to know

  • Thank you so much for doing this it was soooooo helpful!-Joshua 5/5 and now i'm a subscriber

  • cool video... i liked it... same as here in Ohio, but I took the MSF course so I didn't need to take the DMVs test. =)

  • Great video. Now I have a place to send people when they ask about the test,

  • This test is somewhat different (easier) than the one I had to do in AZ just over a year ago. Although that test was done at the end of an MSF BRC. It's kind of scary that I had my endorsement less than 36 hours after my first ever time on a motorcycle and never having left a parking lot.

  • its the same stuff from MSF course, but its kinda hard to do on my 600rr

  • dam dont do it in fl cuz it takes like 3 days an u cant ride ur bike

  • wow that was insanely easy! hope my car learners permit test tomorrow is that easy... thanks for the footage!

  • Sorry, not easy when using a 600cc bike(zx6r) like I did.

  • Your full test is like our test for a small 125cc machine, it's cool to see this video thanks for sharing it atlas, is it true that your license runs out ever year or so and you have to re-take the tests? For our small machines you have to re-do the test every two years buy for a big bike you dont have to re-take. it's for life. That test seems like a peice of cake, i'm amazed at how easy it is to get a license over the pond. i feel hard done by.

  • I've taken mc tests in 3 different states, and this was pretty typical. Having the ability to ride around at low speed in a parking lot seems to be the main criteria for getting a motorcycle endorsement here in the US.

I'm sure that our European friends will watch this and shake their heads! :)

  • Hehe, yeah. In holland you've got to take 3 exams:

    1 written with 50 questions

1 practical on a parking lot

    1 practical on the road.

Total pricetag for all the exams and lessons: About 1300 euro's (1751 US dollar) :(

  • Good Job, nice video, very helpful to what to expect.

  • When I took my test in Virginia, they asked me if I drove my bike there. I said "Yes". They then said "you pass". That was it! They really only wanted the money, which was very little. Perhaps 5 dollars. That was a while ago.

  • That's hilarious!

  • dear god. if this is the test you have to pass its no suprize that most of you ride like shit and dont even wear protection (no insulting you bill you are a propper rider that wear gear) but just sunglasses on a harley and a t-shirt deam

  • also your face healed nicely no scratches or something anymore. I hope you feel good and have no pain.

  • I do feel fine now, thanks :)

  • I know your helmet has a mirrored visor, but did the examiner know that you had a camera in your face? Great post, brought back memories of my test.

  • I asked for permission to record, and the examiner had no problem.

  • That's awesome!

  • a 5 min test... thats kind of taking the piss to be fair... in the UK you have a road test... actually ON the road... which you cant even take unless you have passed a manoeuvre test like what you did there... the road test is 30 min's long minimum with a fair bit extra... still... that seemed a bit messy to... not your riding I mean the test... weird mind.

  • Cripes. You should see the UK effort. Several days and £700+ later.

Off road riding, road riding, paper tests, comptuer generated simulation tests.

    You name it.

This will be helpful, the noobs will love this video. Ensure your tags and title are optimised this video could fly. Shame about the long intro.

  • I think this video could fly, think I should report without the intro?

  • report = repost I mean

  • @svengalie ... So, they require you to jump through all those hoops and, if that wasnt enough, they charge you £700 of your hard earned money on top of it. That sucks Sven.

Do they implant a microchip under your skin if you want to ride a bike that's 1000cc or greater? ;)

  • This is similar to our test here in South Africa. Ours tests a few more things though.

  • Wow...wtf. Hahah. I had to take a 2day course (16hours total) and pay $200 to get an endorsement in FL

  • lol wow. mine was 5 days (mon-fri) like 4 hrs a day and only cost $20 and if you pass you get your money back lawl
