I'm gonna get a pro cam these days , and this cam caught my eye. Is this good? My friends tell me to get a Nikon cam , since they say Canon lenses is really cheap.

Opinions anyone? Should I get this? Oh and I'm a beginner , I just like taking pictures and videos. I'm a teenager.

I got this camera about 5 months ago, its great! personally, canons are better, i've used nikons before and they're pretty slow in my opinion. the only problem i have with it is that i have a kit lens, so its pretty limited and i would like to have a wider lense or better focus ring, but i would recommend to you a canon t3i if you can afford it, or if you're not in too much of tight budget get a 60D from amazon

@Cpmaster4587 The Canon 500D or Canon Rebel T1i (USA) is very different from the newer model the Canon 550D or Canon Rebel T2i (USA)

In terms of video the 500D only records 20fps at 1080p and in 720p it records at 30fps.

The 550D by far is the better camera for video recording.

It still is one of the most widely used cameras for video today. 550D records 1080p in 1080p @ 30, 25 or 24 fps and 720p @ 50/60 fps. With 50/60 fps you can slow video down to a slow motion smoothly.

@sparkyflamez If the picture came out better on the 500d than the 550d then it's obviously down to a bad photographer as the 550d is a better, more modern camera with less noise ect. That or you are lying. Stupid photography claims don't go far when you comment on a video about photography that are crawling with photographers...

@meamasako2009 1100D, the 500D is just too expensive for what it is..Noisy, useless Full HD mode at such a low fps. But of course, image quality and sharpness are the same at both.

@Qiqidh Yes, max card size is 32 gig, that is all SDHC goes up to which is what the 500D can support. The 550D supports the next gen cards SDXC which have a max capacity of 2 TB. This is because SDXC use a exFAT file system whereas SD and SDHC use FAT32.

@MrRusswarez :I was also in a same confusion...I have brought canon 500D.Its a great camera...Iam totally in love with this camera.The canon 500d can shoot upto 12800 of ISO speed which is truly awesome.Its more of a fight between nikon and canon.......But yea nikon's lens are cheaper and affordable while canon's lens are way too costly which isn't allowing me to get upgraded to the next level of photography.....I also appreciate the canon's user friendly menu and operation...i wd recommend 500d

everyones going on about the 1080p video but its only 20fps which dosn't really give any room to play at all in the editing aspect (unless your speeding up the footage obviously) considering that almost all other videos you will see end in 25fps. I'm not knocking the camera at all but i wouldn't recomend if your buying it for its video capabilities.
