  • What air cleaner do you have? Do you like how the air cleaner performs?

  • Where is your fuel pump at?

  • Where did you get engine?

  • You have 5.29s with what tire size for 60 mph. Looking to go 4.88 on my 33's but i want to be able to have 35's later on. What you think? Great truck by the way!

  • @clintox917 i did have 35s but now 33s , i cut 50 lbs per wheel and tire. Dick Cepek dc2 16x8 at 20 lbs each and Mickey T baja atz 285 75 at 57 lbs each .its a 33 x 11. I think i get more traction now with a thinner contact patch. i was running nitto mud grapplers 35s and american racing 18 x9 they were 125 lbs that's combined. new weight 77 lbs .

  • Is that a weber carb? if so, what size, and how do you like the power?

  • @seadooman7444 yes its a Weber 38mm , it is plenty of power just not real efficient. im in Florida so no emissions , i always hear about it on trail rides the guy behind me complaining about the heavy exhaust fumes. If i was to do it over ( which i will eventually ) efi or propane injection . I also have 5.29 gears so my highway mpg is not good , 3000 rpm gets me 60 mph in 5th gear . hope this helps

  • @chopper904 Thank you, it does help. I still may put a weber 38 on mine, but I may consider doing efi because of the excessive fumes you mentioned. If i do the 38, i'll put a magnaflow cat and see if I can get it to pass smog (I'm in California...ughhh), otherwise, i'll just throw the stock carb back on once every two years when its time to smog.

  • @chopper904 did you try to tune the carb at all or just slap it on there?

  • was that a2x4 under the boxlol

  • @metheguy12 oh that 2x4 , that's the kinda shit you get when you have a complete bed made out of fiberglass, Hannamen out of cali made it for me . I was not happy with there work and it took 3 months longer than the 2 months they said it would take. I actually hate it and will probably take it off and build a flat bed eventually

  • rims? just bought a white 82 and i wanna get a set like yours. thanks!

  • @xXSuMmiTxRiDeRXx american racing teflon coated

  • What carb are you using? I

  • dude you have the cleanest yoder ive ever saw. please let me know what kind of rims those are. i need some of those asap

  • cleanest toyota i have ever seen you sir have got a very sexy yota

  • @llMAINLUNATICll thanks!

  • @chopper904 what header did you put on there??

  • Did you remove your EGR? I just installed my weber and I think it would run better if removed it.

  • @theoxing yes , its all gone. in fact i just removed the little breather on my valve cover and piped it into my carb breather . this will burn off any vapors coming threw my valve cover . also my pcv is directly to my intake manifold.

  • @chopper904 so that little filter on your valve cover isnt a good idea? I see a lot of 22r guys doing it.

  • ive got another question. if i got one of these carbs what smog stuff do i have to take off. would it just be the airbox and all that tubing?

  • @MrJackmasters it will all go away . the only vacuum lines will be brake booster, distributor , pcv valve,

  • @chopper904 ok sweet thanks

  • what sized piping are u using? and are using a stock cam?

  • @91trxryder Its 2.5 in. pipe. My cam is not stock, its 430 / 270 . Its more for torque , I also put a heavier flywheel on for the larger tires. And of course a center-force two dual friction clutch .

  • what sized piping are u using?

  • this is proly a rly dumb question but wtf if you have an 87 wheres all your smog shit at??? i have a 87 also and its got somg shit on it but i wanna do what you did with the carb and shit. so what did you do lol??

  • @MrJackmasters A lot of them that didn't have the cali emissions, didn't have the smog stuff. Besides that, if you know what you're doing, you can easily eliminate the smog stuff.

@chopper904 Have you figured out your coil spring length yet? I heard from TC for the gen 2 kit, they recommend the 400# spring rate.

  • @MrJackmasters I live in florida , no emissions here.

  • @chopper904 lucky bastard

  • Where's your fuel pump at?

  • and do you have a baja kit on your truck?

  • that a weber carburetor?

  • @hisblood27 Yes it is a Weber 38mm that was set up by Redline. My fuel pump is electric and is mounted close to tank and filter. My suspension is stock , I do have a 3 in. body lift , and fiberglass flare fenders. 35 in. tires for now but they are for sale .Im going to drop down to a 33 and put a total chaos gen. 2 long travel kit . Its a coil over conversion that eliminates torion bar

  • Your truck looks and sounds great! What's your jetting in your Weber 38? Idles, Mains and Air? Thanks

  • what kind of fuel pump you runnin and where did you get it from?

  • i have a engine rebuilding kit with 0.20 oversized pistons, brand new clevite bearings, rings, felpro engine gasket, water pump, etc for sale. its for the 1981-1984 22r motor.

  • How hard was it to install that carb? I have one ordered.

  • 22rs last alot longer if ya keep them stock i just got a header and my head ported and she runs fine

  • that is bad ass dude. my 85 has the same engine an i have a 2.5'' magnaflow im puttin on it. your sounds like its got some balls!

  • which carb do u have im assuming the 38, but does that carb really make a difference in the performance, than the stock carb? im thinking bout buying the 32/36 but still unsure, i know lce is in for business, so i just wanted to know ur opinion seeing is u have a weber

  • are u runing dual valve springs with this cam setup?

  • I wonder if rednecks realize these are rice burners too...? haha. Don't hate I've owned an 87 and an 89 yota... Cheap mufflers are best for these things..

  • you have my dream truck! soooo nice:)

  • haha, my truck sounds just like that but better, lol but urs and my engine look alot alike, just i have a black valve cover, and 2.5" flowmaster, did you bore your block or is it stock?

  • @808surf420 its 20 over, with torque cam and heavy flywheel .These together change the sound of rev.

  • yah thats were i bought my header kit and other things, looked at yours and seen you had a similar set up that i wanted to do (carb and manifold) just was curious if it was smog legal. didnt want to bug lc engineering with my stupid questions lol but im sure they would know.

  • does it pass smog? i was thinking about getting the 22R Weber 38 Carburetor Kit w/K&N Air Filter

    and 22R Downdraft Manifold

  • @wcoldschool not smog legal , here in florida no smog laws. Look at lc engineering

  • Undoubtibly the most reliable engine made, stroked and supercharged mine 292hp

  • I love those rims. Who makes those? I would love to pick them up for my 93 yota

  • @bloodtypexneg American racing 18 x 9 Teflon coated .

  • @bloodtypexneg American racing 18x9 Teflon coated wheels , tires 35x12.50 nitto grapplers.

  • nice build! i just bough the header set for my 85 and got the block off plate for the air intake tubes for the header, what other block off plates do i need? and were to get them. i didnt see anymore on lc engineering and yes this is my first toyota :)

  • @wcoldschool That should be it.

  • wat type of magnaflow is that wat serial # or model?

  • @mrlukegod12 look at my comments posted and i tell all about it , i think twice.

  • i have a 1989 22r what can i ad to improve horsepower?

  • @naher1 new bigger carb , intake , headers , cam , ignition , pulleys, this will increase hp around 50 -60 . to really gain stroker kits are available from LC engineering , up to 250+ but there not cheap.

  • how much hp?

  • @moggierabbit about 50-60 over stock, so around 150.

  • wish my yota was 4x4 lol

  • I love how clean the engine bay is. What all did you do to get rid of the mess of vacuum lines. Im in the process of a rebuild right now. Any advise?

  • new offy intake and block off plates to do away with emissions ,and weber carb only needs 1 vacuum line to distributor . Hope this helps.

  • thats nice, where did you get the exhaust header? or was it custom made? it sounds nice, kinda has a turbo whistle to it. lol

  • I got the header from Downey offroad before they closed down. L.C Engineering also has real nice parts if you have a toyota.

  • Can you get thoes air filters for a stock carb on the 22r?

  • Yes you can , look at LC Engineering.

  • where did you ordered that air filter and carb from.i been looking to get rid of that old air filter box on my 22r, its taking up space under my hood,

  • Its a 38 mm weber / redline outlaw carb, with a offyenhuser intake . Try LC Engineering , all toyota , try not to drool.

  • cleeeeeeaaan!

  • thanks ,

  • Please Tell Me What Kinda Rims!..Ive Been Looking For Some Like That..

  • American racing 18x9 Teflon coated , with 35x12.50 nitto mud grapplers.

  • i love the whole trucl love the tires rims, mines only a 2wd looking for a 4wd toyota pickup, for off roading and long rides

  • How much hp u got have u dynod it

  • Have not put it on a dyno, but if you add up the gains in hp for the parts I have used it should be around 150 hp. I wish I would of went with fuel injection , still can .

  • stock runs great but if you put a header on and the weber 32/36 carburetor with the correct conversion setup and have it jetted correctly it gives 18% more power and a few mpg's more, and 4-5 seconds quicker acceleration from 0-45 mph

  • toyota technical service bulliton, Excessive valve noise can be heard ( like this for example) If the valve cover is not TORQUED properly, something you never would have guessed but from this bulliton you should only have the valve cover at 35-40 INCH pounds of torque, over or under tightening alows tappet noise to resonate out the valve cover more and under tightening...well oil everywhere lol.

  • thats a 22r?

  • yes

  • dude the tapids are hella off,.

  • Hey this is a very good sounding engine, How long have you been running this setup? I am deciding what to do with mine. I am thinking about the 4.3 engine swap because I am not sure how durable a built 22r is.

  • 22r is debatebly one of the most reliable gas motors made.

  • @freamu

they will take in water all day long without hydro locking

might stall but a minute or two or cranking and they'll fire

  • The 22R is a champ! Just rolled 400000 miles on mine!

  • alot of people who do the 4.3 swap regret it and wish they just went for the 5.7 swap. 4.3s have not great gas mileage so you might as well have a lot more power of a 5.7 if your getting bad gas mileage anyway

  • your truck sounds SIIIIIICKKKK

  • thanks

  • i used to have my 22r set up like that. i returned it to stock specs and it runs better than ever. i miss the psssh noise you here when you let off the gas though.

  • why did you change the previous setup...? i am planning to do the same thing on my truck..

  • hey buddy, where did you get that intake, or how did you fab it up?

  • LC Engineering is where I bought it .Offenhauser is the brand name. Some say the 20r head and intake on a 22r bottom is the way to go ,because of runner length and air flow. The Offy has this same runner lengths as 20r , just made for the 22r.

  • 2500.00

  • for what?

  • Jesus that sounds good.

I wanna know that whole set up you have there on the exhaust

Please send me a message on my page or write up everything you have on this

  • Look on 2nd page of comments <I explain it all and give give ebay numbers.

  • Check out my 20r22r hyrid build video with information using 99% stock toyota parts

  • nice 22r mine looks similar

    what size cam u running?

  • 270 / 430

  • the valve noise is not the header its the cam aftermarket cams have a low centerline that causes the valves to be set down hard nothing to worry about mine sounds similar comp cam ,30 over 10-1 pistons ,weber 38 outlaw 160 hp havent done exhaust yet

  • dam bro...

    sweet ass ride!!!

very similar to the one i got... have the same the same stuff under the hood as you do... with alot extra more of course... im LOVING the exhaust.. thanks for the tip:).. i'll shoot some video of it a post it as a video response... Its all about TOYOTAS!

  • Comment removed

  • sounds good! Sounds like she could use a valve adjustment. Do i hear small cam?

  • Yes there is a aftermarket cam 270/430.This video was around the 500 mile break in on the new engine. I have adjusted valves and re-torqued the head bolts since. The Downey header lets alot of valve noise out also. Thanks for the comments.

  • you've taken good care of her

  • Thats bad ass! Good muscle car engine sound!

  • what exact magnaflow is that

  • its the round tube shape .look at the reply s comment down below an i have listed the e bay number.

  • the ebay numbers have expired now that the auction is over...

  • Here you are,The muffler is ebay # 220334472103 , but this one is 3in ,I have 2 1/2. The cat has been replaced with a resonator. The # is 200292270709 , its not the exact one but it looks the same and cost around $40.00 .That is much cheaper the a new cat. I am very happy with the sound ,not to loud unless you want it to be! Hope this helps you.

  • k so those are nitto mud grapplers on what look like mojave black wheels. what size are the tires?

  • The wheels are 18 x 9.5 .Tires are 35 x 12.50. I had to have the hubs bored out to match the older Toyota hub centric.

  • want an extra 3 or 4 hp... take away the mechanic fan and put an electric one

  • Look a little closer.

  • touché... ;)

  • what brand of resonator?

  • I got it on ebay.Look threw the comments and I have listed the ebay number for it and the mufffler.

  • Did you get that polished rad from LC as well? Nice truck, bro. I've got an '86 with a 22RE, flowmaster, and a mild RV cam. Nowhere near as clean as that, though.

  • Thanks for the nice comments, yes the radiator came from L.C

  • ohh man the famous 22r knock

    gotta love toyotas!

  • where did you get the engine from?

  • that radiator looks badasss

  • what kind of header do you have on it? LC engineering maybe?

  • what all haev you put on it sounds.......PIMP

  • ur trucks clean so cean its sick

how many miles u got on that thing?

  • Check on ebay,REDLINE WEBER 38mm outlaw.$400.00

  • wow those are some pizza cutter right there

  • i have a 1990 toyota with the 22re and i was wondeirn what kind of magnaflow you have

  • Hey, its 14" long, 6" round, polished finish.I got it on e-bay,I also have a resonator in place of the cat. E-bay #320218762256 for muffler.#200201777938 for resonator. Hope this helps.

  • Hey man thanks for all the info that is exactly what i wanted. i love the sound of your truck man i hope mine can be as nice as yours one day

  • i also wanna know if i can put the airfilter you put on there on mine even though my motor is perty much like all stock. soo all i know about it mostly chevys i dont know much about these. but just got me one.

  • dang that has to be one of the nicest yotas ive ever seen how much that build cost ya?

  • Well I have $2500 in the purchase of the truck.$2600 in fiberglass bed,fenders,hood.$3200 in engine rebuild, all new every thing plus some.ARB Bumper $700,American racing 18x9 wheels(Teflon coated)$600,35in Nitto mud grappler $1000,plus the interior has the ultimate stereo system with DVD 7in screen, racing seats, new carpet all that $1000 SO about $11,600 wow.But that is all over a 5 year period, and Im sure I am forgetting some stuff. Its really not to bad,I have lots more to do.C ya

  • hey cool truck any of u guys know how much horsepower u get if you bore it .030 or u get no power at all

  • It might gain a little, the most gain would be a stoker kit.Check out LC engineering, they will have a ton of stuff for toyota engines. Thanks for the comment.

  • increasing displacement is always guaranteed to increase horsepower. given the a/f ratio is still adequate

  • thanks dude but truck drowned last year when it flooded here in Iowa

  • Very clean engine bay!!! You should see mine in my 86 lol!!

  • drool

  • Hey thanks, I love the 22R :)

  • its really nice. i have a fifth gen celica right now but i hope to get a hilux for next winter

  • chopper904 you need a valve jod bad

  • Yea it sounds like it. The cam im running calls for 8 on the intake and 12 exhaust which is what it is set to. Also the headers I have on it let alot of sound come thru.I think thats why the stock manifold is so heavy duty,to keep engine noise down. When I shot this video I only had 100 miles on it.Since then I have re adjusted valves and tightened head bolts.

  • great sounding 22r!! nice job!

  • Hey chopper904, can you tell me more about the exhaust? Are you running a resonator/bullet up front and then the muffler at the back? Or simply a single muffler?

What is the part number of the muffler(s)?

Your truck sounds great man! I love the look too, nice clean white paint and nice black rims!

  • AHHH LC engineering I assume.

  • Yes alot of my parts came from LC. only the best. Thanks for looking.

  • wat kind of carb u running how'd u get the throttle cable so tight

  • ah the famous toyota knock.

  • What magnaflow muffler did you use? do you have an aftermarket cam? Very nice truck by the way.

  • sounds real nice at high rpms

  • sounds ight man

  • you from ocala? check out fattshack dot com

  • I like, its got a decent sound for a 4-banger

  • Sweetest 22R on You Tube!
