the edges pop too much with that. cut the pieces of the corners off (the little lumps that hook into the core) and then put those in. it prevents popping and can be speedsolved. then take ur 8 corners, 4 edges, and a 30cm 3x3 cube to make a 2x2x3.

i did that... but i took out 3 walls of each corner so that it gives support but looks discrete and like there really arent corners

try buying a D.I.Y Rubiks 3x3x3 Cube on ebay.

they aparently have good tolorence (how smooth the cube is without the pecies getting stuck).

I made a crosscube that has a large center and wide edges so u can speedsolve it! It's springed and you can actually do fingertricks with it and cut corners without popping it!:)
