Now stuff like this is what makes YouTube great, i loved the sound of juke boxes when I was a kid, in fact the first time I heard Gone Gone Gone by the Everly Brothers was on a juke box.
This is a song my mother and I used to perform at family gatherings. I sang melody and she sang harmony. Haven't heard it in years like this, and it surely is a treat to hear it on a 45. Yep. Thanks :-}
In praise or the 'messager'? OK, nice machine, indeed. (But) think about the once youthful fingers dropping coins into the slot; what was the connection then, and now? What is the conclusion to such a fine song? An oldster with fantastic memories can be able to sing along pretty darn good! They will be alone with their memories....they will be thankful for this posting too.
Great song and beautiful jukebox. I have 7 1950s jukes including 3 Rockolas, 3 Seeburgs, and 1 model 2404 Wurlitzer jukebox(1960). I love the "pages" on your machine and would prefer your juke to the 1015 for my personal use. The old machines are beautiful but not very practical with their small number of selections.
@TheMrRockola That is quite a collection you have. I once had a Wurlitzer 1100 that my cousin gave me when I was very young. I sold it for the same reasons, only 24 one sided selections of 78's, and bought a 1950's Wurltizer that played 45s. I wish I had not sold it now, but being very young at the time I just wanted someting to play rock n roll 45's on.
@Highland804 I have always like that model it is the Wurlitzer 1015 made in 1946 it is a 24 selection jukebox, playing only one side of the 78 records . It is the most popular, and most recognized Wurlitzer jukebox. The Wurlitzer Peacock is also one of my favorites.
to me this is a perfect demonstration of why i prefer the record to "live"98.7% of the time--and they are brilliant live-- but the studio allows them to carry on till they achieve perfection--a great vid thanks
I love this!!! The memories of playing this song on a "jukebox" in a soda shop. Standing there and picking out a song and watching the record chosen play. I love the sound and the original version of this song. Beautiful harmony singing from Don and Phil. Thank you Loretta for the share. Thank you maynardcat posting this memorable song by my favorite duo. 5*****
@tickyreal MUSICIANS used that riff over and over lets go steady again neil sedaka needles and pins the searchers ill feel a whole lot better the byrds
"Vet", ah yes, such a beautiful ring to that. I'm very proud that I served..., from 61-65... I was there during the Cuban crisis, and the start of Vietnam. Though I too never had to actually go there, I was sure there to Launch all or B-52's to Guam. Though it was scary, and I was Flight Line support, I wouldn't have wanted to miss it for anything.
As for the music, my LarchSt here in YouTube site says it all. My next CD will include "Mary-Lou". It takes about 6 months to complete a CD. Later
Are you retired Air Force??? I was at Castle AFB from '61-65' . Even though it was the beginning of Nam, they were the best years of my life... Thanks for the comments... Visit my site if you like, I have more coming. Again, thanks
@LarchSt Thanks for your reply buddy. I retired from the Army in 2001. I joined in 1980 when I was 17. But my oldest brother Bobby was in the Air Force and trained as a fireman that tackled jet fuel fires. Thank goodness he never got sent to Nam. Drop me a note anytime my friend, from one vet to another. Ronald.
@LarchSt HEY LARCH ST. I just found You Tube not to long ago. The awesome music that you can retrieve is incredible. DON AND PHIL NEVER SOUNDED BETTER. Sincerely, Sgt. Ronald J. Campbell USA Ret.
This was the 1st time I heard the Everly's,in the mid 50's and on a jukebox just like this one.Thanx for the memories! As a young child I loved them and recognized their sound!
@BKuchau Grew up in Cal back in those times and everything was "fun" back then. Now! at times I see what is happening nowadays, and then I have to ask myself the great question "WHAT HAPPENED"? I was around 10 when this song came out, but I knew in my heart, at that age, I love Rock @ Roll..Gee! seems like a dream now!
This is great ! Brings back memories of my teen years, Nothing sounds quite like a Juke Box, i always stood close to them and tried to look cool, Thanks for that !
Gawd I loved watching that Wurlitzer work - I thought the EB's played it faster - and the analog sound on the 45 is a treat - scratches and all. Great post - thanks.
You know you are right. I am not sure why, but all digital postings of the same songs seem to be missing something. They sound similar, but not exactly the same. They seem to be missing the original warmth and life the song had as analog. They have a very clear and clean sound, but a little cold sounding.
@maynardcat You're absolutely right. I finally read on a vintage LP site that the laser on a CD doesn't give you the fullness, richness, the nuances on a recording... for example a beautiful Sinatra blue ballad...that the stylus needle in the deeper groove of a vinyl record does.

Well, nature is analog! So, in my opinion, for something to sound "natural" it would have to be analog.
