People a BTR-90 can more than keep up with a Bradly or a Striker. It has an automatic 30mm cannon, an automatic 30mm grenade launcher and an anti tank missile launcher as well as having openings to allow units inside to fire RPGs from while on the move. In addition to that it is amphibious and is pretty menuverable. It can also be air dropped via parachute.
@1169Timothy everything about this vehicle is formidable. But using wheels is stupid, imagine you are in a wheeled NBC Recce vehicle, the ground would be searing hot so that heat generated by a nuclear blast would destroy the wheels. The same also allies to riot control, rubber and Molotov cocktails don't mix well!
I have always been an advocate of tracks rather than wheels, such as the MT-LB and M113. they have lower ground pressure and dont get stuck in mud
2. Tracks are good but wheels are more cost effective and with a large engouf vehicle they can still crush (or rather drive over) road blocks and obstacles. Proof of this is that riot control uses wheeled vehicles and it is not a problem).
3. Wheeled vehicles do better in an urban combat situation vs Tracked vehicles and that is precisely the situation that an IFV is most effective.
@1169Timothy sorry but if an insurgent blasted a couple of AK-47 rounds at the wheels, that would destroy the tires, and remember run flat tires dont run forever so a stryker would probably be able to deliver its payload, but would have to be taken away by the engineering variant which is still vulnerable
@MRWALKER500000 It's not easy to have a clear shot on the wheel especially when on the battlefield where soldiers run around the battlefield... I'm just sayin'
@SaintsSpecOps Firs, bradley is armoured transport, this thing is amphibius transport.USA does not have good amphibius transport like this .SRY for bad englich
oh a stryker but 1/5 the cost and morebattle tested...

@MRWALKER500000 Tracks have their disadvantages as well:
1. They are much heavier than wheels, and to get the same speed as a wheeled vehicle with tracks you would need a much larger engine.
2. When a vehicle with tracks wants to turn, it must slow down significantly thus making it vulnerable in a Urban setting.
Also:
1. Wheels do get stuck in mud, but not if I use mud tires :)
2. If I had to air drop a vehicle via parachute I want wheels for the landing vs tracks.

@1169Timothy what i am saying is your M113 has an excellent vehicle that needed no replacement
1. the stryker has a 275hp engine while the stryker needs a 350hp
2. /watch?v=6fxIAEW0djU (you also see the film black hawk down where the humvees cant crush those obstacles that the somalis put up?)
3. with tracks, the ground pressure is dispersed
4. dont the Paras use a pallet to put the vehicles on?

@MRWALKER500000 Whilst that is true, tires are easier to change vs changing tracks.
