why would u see a cloud if its a punture hamilton has had some in recent years and u didn't see a cloud u get clouds from brake dust not thin air the wheel was moving from side to side a hell of alot thats how u would be able to tell from a slow motion shot maybe cus it came off the rim and that why it looked loched up yeah the tires locked underbraking so it was a brake or suspention problem

if you look closely at around 0:27, when Schumacher gets out of the car, he leans on the front right tyre with his right hand and it seems to me that the tyre has very low pressure... Tyre puncture???
@bigteltheking But the puncture was probably caused by the wheel being dragged along after it locked. Looks more like brake or suspension because the problem happened in an instance
@JoslockESP if it was a puncture it would still be spinning, that was a sudden break. It could be a hub failure or a disc failure or a suspension failure
@JoslockESP If a tyre is locked up, it might have gone flat with the tyre rubbing against the circuit for that amount of time. Think it's a combi of more things at the same time.
oh shit you're right! i didn't realise his front right lock up under and during continuous hard acceleration was what caused his puncture... shit, i'm so sorry sir. btw since you're so expert can you please explain to me how a front lock up can occur under acceleration? because if you're saying the obvious puncture was a result of the lock up then this is what must have happened...? ps GL
@JoslockESP I think the flat tyre is a result of driving whilst the wheel locked. The tyre seems to have worn right through as a result of being dragged along the ground.
@JoslockESP more likley the tyre deflated because of it locking, look at heidfeld this year at malaysia in practice, the tyre was compleatly orn away when the same thing happend
The 1996 Ferrari seemed to have sod-all testing, hence mechanical failures throughout the first half of the season for Schumacher. Then Irvine kept having engine failures after that...
@darthbandon10 Do you think anyone has the clip of him qualiyfying the car in Argentina 1996. I remember watching that and it looked like he was driving a rally car it was sliding around that much.
Hadn't seen this for a long time. Somehow I had on my mind that he had run with blocked wheel longer - from the aqua minerale onwards but it seemed happening in second rivazza.
@ImFasterThanTheStig He took pole in qualifying and was driving through the first chicane after his pole lap only to spin with rear suspension failure.
That 1996 Ferrari was beautiful !

at 00:29 , is that when it happens? or is it just a blur on the recording?
singningwongho 3 months ago
94070 is correct, it was a brake disc exploding that caused it. Saw the race live back in 96 and had the Official review video.

FYI, that's no puncture. The brake disc exploded.

at 0:30 you can clearly see a cloud coming from the right tire. so it must be a puncutre.
Mad1Z 3 months ago 2
well it would have a a flat after being dragged round half the lap, that makes more than a flat spot!!!!

in the replay u can c the tire blow, but that's not a problem Schumi is an expert in driving on three wheels lol

JoslockESP 7 months ago 56
@JoslockESP because of the tyre staying still it would have undoubtedly caused the tyre to rub all the way down to the canvas and cause a puncture

@JoslockESP no shit sherlock
CGSmij08 2 months ago
@JoslockESP
I suspect that the tyre lost its pressure as a result of friction with the track for some half a lap. It simply worn through.
The actual reason for wheel to start blocking was a wheel-bearing failure which occurred somewhere near Acque Minerale, according to Schumacher.

He had a similar problem during qualifying of this race, his rear left suspension broke just after a earns pole position.
