  • Damn that sounds cool! What a boat engine that'd make.

  • As i read all these bench racing comments i dont see any of these know it all heros to be posting video responses with their proof to their actions. anyone can read a book calibration but anyone that knows how a Detroit Engine really works is probally laughing with me. And to the 3400rpm comment the engine will turn 3975 but the valve and injector springs begin to float. (Waiting To See Your Responses)

  • wonder if one would fit in my 1990 toyota 4x4 after my 3.0v6 dies?

  • Is this a three cylinder engine? It sounds like. Sorry, I´m learning about detroits, since I love these engines.

  • @TheHuskyGT yep, 3cyl inline, and the '53' is referring to cyl capacity, so a 3cyl with 3x53 c.i. capacity.

  • What kind of injectors are in this "little" guy?

  • can these be made RH rotation and LH rotation interchangable like say a 6-71?

  • That little engine just said "That's all you got? 3 minutes at wide-open? I can do that all day!" xD GOTTA LOVE DETROITS!

  • I love these engines I have a few. But if you are going to put an engine on a dyno then please post the HP and TQ.

  • ok it's been two years, how much power does this SOB make?!?!?

  • What turbo are you using?

  • Sounds great

  • @mpwelk lolz you can hear them things miles off here alot of the grain trucks we have here use them engines

  • @mpwelk they use to use these motors to power the air raid sirens, well 8v71's but they sound pretty good on full song too.

  • @mpwelk speaking about a air raid siren, check out the video of a evenrude V8 2 stroke in a sand rail dyno. amazing

  • @Jthumper Thanks - great vid!

  • i'm wondering for how long the engine can work properly at these rpms.

I'm guessing these are way above 7k rpm.

I ask because i always feel guilty for torturing my 50ccm engine on my nearly 30 year old bike at 7k rpm just to reach normal city travelling speeds (60kp/h).

and i allways wondered what a turbo on a 2 stroke 50ccm can do... :P

  • Revs are not actually as high as they sound, detroits being a 2-stroke design you are hearing twice as many firing strokes in the same amount of time you would a 4-stroke thus the ungodly high revving sound.

  • @brookes0508 3400 is high in the 2 cycle detroit world.

  • @brookes0508 that's why i love two strokes!!

  • @brookes0508 or you can look at it like the 4 stroke is reving twice as high as it sounds :)

  • 2800rpm factory for full rated power. fast idle 2950rpm.

  • @micha1980de this is diesel may i remind you and it is reving about 3800rpm it says above.... it really sings though!!

really nice sound how many hp is it putting out???

  • my ears are just young enough to here the turbo pick up at the 1 min mark, my friends and father canoot here the turbo at all.

  • i could hear it too!!!

  • @Jthumper

I herd it in the first 25 seconds what are you talking about?

  • good god....that'll make anyone orgasm right there!

  • I ran that through a stereo chorus - to give it a dual-tuned exhaust sound. That's a nice looooooooooong tone test, thanks.

  • PURE SEX. GODDAMN

  • how much torque did it make??

  • WOW!! That sounds EXACTLY like the 6V-53T in our old '59 Seagrave KB-model fire engine when it was pumping water out of the deluge gun. What memories!!!

  • Variable speed governor? What kind of numbers is this gem laying down?

  • god i love two strokes the rev out way higher than any other diesel and its not because there two strokes that make them sound like that there actually reving that high

  • Only the 53 series rev out way higher than other than other truck engines. The reason they sound so fast is because the cylinders fire twice as often per revolution

  • isnt it a 5.2L or something like that

  • it's 3 cylinders @ 53 cid per cylinder. 159 cid or 2.6L

  • Jaggass: You're thinking of the 6V-53, which sounds exactly like this one. It displaces 318 cubic inches (53 cubic inches per cylinder, 6 cylinders).

  • id like to know what size injectors are in it

  • God damm,...how high those things rev,....sweet derv.

  • just a little less than an lawnmowre- they sound like they are reving high because they are 2 stroke engines.

  • I don't think I would be standing to the side of that thing whilst it spins that fast :)

  • VERY nice!! The 6V-53 and 3-53 have the nicest sound of any diesel engine ever made. The tenor-pitched whine of the straight-cut blower gears is their hallmark.

  • The 8V-53 and 12V-71 also sound sweet.

  • Damn! looka that jimmy SCREAM!!!

  • damn i miss that sound.

  • What kind of truck are you placing it in?

  • im not goin to tell u the power numbers but she does spin up to 3400 rpm with no problem

  • why not?

  • @68Amxguy Jeez, we're not asking for specs or speed secrets. Whats so confidential about its output?

  • @madtownmadman I know, right? Nobody knows who he is, who's engine it is, anything..... and he's being all secretive.... kinda annoying if you ask me.

  • so what did the dyno read---good show----good comments--- except for the one idiot

  • its goin in a mid 70's dodge power wagon

  • Have a 453T in my 75 Dodge W20 3/4 ton pu. Been driving it for years.

  • What did you have to do to swap the motor and what trans do you have behind it?

  • Sweet! I'm officially requesting some videos! :)

  • @68Amxguy I have a 1978 Dodge Crew Cab on a 2 ton dually frame with a 4-53 waiting to be rebuilt.

  • there are a few on here who have put these engines into ford F350's and they sound just like this crusein down the highway, neat for a show rig :)

  • what were the final numbers? was this a 2valve head or a 4valve head?

  • if people only knew how hot and smokey that little ass room must have been. nice engine Jeff hope to see it in the power wagon soon

  • Oh man makes miss the 2 353T Detroit Staionary motors we had pulling Fans on The A.C.D.'s (bunner machines ) we used for land clearing

  • Ah damn that thing sounds so gooood! Thanks for posting.

  • ahahah noisy lil fucker huh?lol
