Since I read the book "Altijd Lapland" ("Always Lapland") written by Gerrit Jan Zwier, a Dutch anthropologist who spent many many years in Lapland for research, to study the Sami, I am in love with Lapland, the most northern part of Norway, Sweden and Finland, with it's unique culture and the "joik", the kind of singing which can be listened at here with Mari Boin....
Youtube brought me in contact with her voice, and Lapland, in a way I read, and what can be watched here, however the culture
I have some videos, in a playlist, but what I see here, and hear, that is so wonderful, the nature as you show me has been described in the book, and it fills me with joy to see it here.
I feel very drawn to the Saami joik and love the way it comes straight from the soul and how it resonates within mine :). Sounds like a great book you're mentioning here. I'll look it up. Thanks so much for the comment :).
The book lays on my table. I am too in love with Sapmi (the land of the Sami) and I like Mari Boine!!!! She is the best singer in the world for me. You can find a lot about her on internet. Do you know her myspace? There is also a Fanclubsite there for her ☺

The pictures were all taken by a Norwegian photographer called W. Haraldsen. He gave me permission to use his photographs ;).

Were you in Lapland? I was several times ..... and now I always long to the far North
