anyone want to write the lyrics in kreyol so i can keep up with the words i speak haitian kreyol and have a hard time keeping up w/the lyrics i guess it would be good if i spoke french but i don't.
i love the haitian side of my beauty...the music, the food, the family, the DANCING!!! the photos the hugs and kisses from mom and aunts and uncles and running like crazy with your cousins... I am soooo haitian.
Wish I could understand all of the lyrics. Being a student of caribbean societies, this song gives me such a strong vibe, resonance deep inside me. Though I'm not caribbean myself, I admire these expressions of history and cultural pride. It's just beautiful. Makes me want to live there and immerse myself even more in the history and culture of this area. I'd love to learn creole languages..I just speak Spanish, English, French and Dutch right now...
French Creole isn't that hard when you speak French already and you put some effort in it... I was able to understand it and have a basic conversation in French Creole after about 4 months of Mauritian life.
To Kassav97: Do you know where can I find some english lyrics of some of the most famous songs of kassav.... I like them from years and I would like to now alittle bit more what they are singin about.... Thks,,,,,
Can someone please tell me Where is this song from?It is amazing. From the pictures I can see it is talking about the injustices of political leaders,am i right?
Kassav is what Bob Marley to Reggae or Michael Jackson to pop. Love this song

b0g43149 3 years ago
No, not really. It talks about history (so in final, some kind of injustice)
The meaning is: just like our great ancestors, we should not bend but keep on going straight
because we know our history and we should be aware of what is ours.
kassav97 3 years ago
Thank you so much for taking your precious time to write such well-thought out comments.

Knowing our history builds our soul
Our soul will deliver us, our soul will make us strong
Doubout pikan would mean "standing like a thorn".

Thank you even more
b0g43149 3 years ago
That song was composed by Jacob Desvarieux from Guadeloupe,
and the lyrics by Pierre Edouard Decimus from Guadeloupe also
Thanks for your comment.
