Bout time to comment! The hood is open because it lets air out to help it run cooler (not that it over heats anyway) and also it looks cool as fuck. An awesome car for a non turbo 1.2l keeps up with std turbo's.The car is in the progress to be turbo just waiting to the a full licence in a couple of months, then big suspension upgrades. Stay tuned...
i believe that airflow is worsened without the hood, because it does not allow air to be channeled correctly. I think removing the front bumper should help in terms of cooling, but aerodynamics are gonna be just as bad as without the hood.
yeah but the ones i own have run hot. but they were porly tuned when i got them soo it adds up i guess. and they do run abit hot in traffic. especially ported rotries. :D
wow stfu u dumb asses know nothing obviously cuz its a ROTARY First off. and they do run hotter than a typical reciprocating motor or "piston motor" . Fuccn ricers.
Rotary is the smoothest engine built .. the power pushes you from behind it feels like a jet .. specially rx7 fd's

You can get a n/a running low 13's down the 1/4, with a pp possible mid 12's.

Ummm my streetport 13b runs low 13's. There are guys with 13b PPs running 9's...

@Hyper4mance2k That would be an all out drag car on gas, the Puerto Rico's know how to do things. I was refering to a 1st gen in full street trim.

@troublesum7
I know we know how to do things. Like I said my car in full street trim runs 13's on a mild streetport.
Hyper4mance2k 1 year ago
@troublesum7 there's a few street trim n/a rotors running 11's maybe on high chance high 10

If u a stage 4 port is done u'll be in 11's high 10's~!

Hey mate love the car, im just wondering what kind of time this set up would run over the 1/4?
Stevowashere08 2 years ago
guys there is just a problem cause the the rotor case and housing are made from two diff. metals so one heats up faster than the other

this is correct. opening or removing the hood actually impedes the cooling system.
Cordtus 1 year ago
@troublesum7 it has already been proven that a "spaced hood" does not help even the slightest bit in cooling performance.
it has been noted that running spacers on your hood brackets have always been an appearance mod..... once that should stay with hondas.

@troublesum7 its a 1.1 liter...just sayin

rotaries dont run hot. they run as hot as any other motor. the only reason people believe they do is because of the fd's trait of running hot.

rotorys do not run hot. i used to drive a fc turbo. they do NOT like overheating. overheating is almost instant DEATH to rotories

@84FbRx7 this is actually a MYTH.... there is no verifiable information to prove this is the case.

yeah budzz you leave your hood open to releasee more air!.

i wonder if he noticed his hood was open
darkblaze176 3 years ago
ive seen allot of rotary cars driving with there hood like that, im not sure why but maybe it lets more air under the hood or something :S
abominableaussieman 3 years ago
@abominableaussieman is a fad, its stupid, it does nothing for cooling performance
rotor13 4 months ago
his hood is not open.
on 1st generation RX7 the open opens the other way. you lift from near the windshield,and the hitch is in the front of the car.
rx7outlaw 3 years ago
i know that i have an 83 gsl. if you look at the vid closley you can see that the hood is open from the winshield side
darkblaze176 3 years ago
no its definatly open, i have an rx7 to, looks the same as that one. And when its closed properly, the hood is the same level as the body
