  • great tutorial just what i needed a different perspective on bio mechanical art. very confusing and complex art form.

  • Very insightful and fast! Thank you.

  • I've watched this video 4x's time now and right after the first time I went and tried this on paper with mechanical pencil it turned out great thanks for the tips on here it helped establish depth and texture too

  • very well done great explanation of different art theories really helped out a lot thanks I've been doing this all the wrong way

  • Basic instruction VERY well executed! You've got a great, intuitive eye for organics, but you need to consider the term BIO-MECH more carefully. Giger excels in his art because he successfully combines a disturbing vision of organic structure AND mechanical (hence, a LOT of straight lines) objects. It's a simple matter of a deep appreciation of perspective that makes using straight lines a worthwhile addition to art.

Good work and you've got an excellent voice for narration.

  • Absolutely fabulous tutorial. Using your advice my quiality went from pretty second rate to epic looking. Hats off to you sir. <3

  • You rule man!!!...Nuff respect!...Now that I had found this biomech tutorial of yours, I'd be happy to get back at you as soon as I can finish my first biomech piece that I've been craving for so long!...Thanks man!...

  • great job man, have you seen the biomech done by roman?

i think you might like it man

    keep it up killer

  • simple but really, really good tutorial!! thanks man!

and btw - grimjer is right, the name is GEEGER not GUYGER. it's a german name.

in german language i is pronounced ee...

Hans Rudolf Giger is a an artist from switzerland - and the main language of switzerland is german.

if somebody still not believe it look on youtube for an official video by giger where a kid screams: IT'S GEEGER, NOT GUYGER!!!!

  • the name is H.R. GIGER...

  • GEEGER???, you're wrong man... unless you're saying every documentarie i ever saw of GEEGER they pronounce it wrong :p it is GUYGER ;)

niw for the artist, i thinks its very nicely done but i would try to make it look sharper (my opinion) but i did not see anyone do better on photoshop so big up ;) i've got a biomech sleeve on my arm myself so i'm really hooked :D

  • I just want to remind you all that this piece was done in 20 minutes using only the Adobe Photoshop airbrush tool. It was never intended to be sharp, but more ethereal as I stated in the first video, only to show very simple methods for anyone to take to their own art table and tinker with. I wasn't trying to replicate Giger, no matter how you pronounce it. Perhaps in the future I'll do a vid exploring crisper detail. I think this is simply a black on white primer.

  • sorry i take that back, there were a couple places i used the blur/smudge tool

  • it's H.R. GIGER

  • great tutorial!

  • wow, i've been saying it wrong all these years! thanks for keeping me honest :)

  • Hails! I have been on the quest and thirst for Biomech art, and then I saw your presentation! It is sooo simple, but yet it was elusive for me in the past... BTW, it's pronounced Geeger, rather then Guyger... But beyond that, you are an awesome artist, Slavedragon ^_^

  • excellent!! thanks for taking the time to do this!

  • Very nice and easy video tutorial you have here. Im pretty sure my friends would find this useful, since most of them paints or use Photoshop. I would however want to see some of your digital drawings too. Take care now!

  • Very nicely done, thank you. I'm always been an artist but I'm also beginning tattoo artist and you just inspired the hell out of me :)

  • very cool video. very useful, insightful. Thanks for making it!

  • very cool

  • Nice!!!! Your video was very insightful for me. I love to sketch like that and have never used a computer to do it. I'm leaning to tattoo... and decided i wanted something like what you're drawing on my arm... so I was browsing through youtube and found your video. Very awesome and helpful! Thanks so much- you're an awesome artist!

  • Hi Jenkev3,

I appreciate that, and I'm glad that this opened some doors for you :)

  • Hi Izostone,

If you are using photoshop, you can alternate from a fuzzy airbrush back to a tighter airbrush or even a pen/pencil tool when you get to the foreground and then simply use whatever blending method you like, such as the smudge or blur tool. Alternatively, the sharpen tool might work for you. This piece was meant to be a little ghostly in the interest of video length.

  • it looks fukking awsome but how do u make it look not fuzzy but still natural in the foreground?
