All I know is that I've never heard it done in a more "heart-rending" manner than in this recording. The passion of the others, including Pavarotti and Bocelli, is alright and powerful, but THIS recording actually tells the story that the words say. Bravo!!
Beautiful rendition. It is a shame the original recording was so ill served by the phony echo effects though. Still, a nice example of Buti's exquisite phrasing and "in the moment" singing. In many ways he was Italy's precursor to our own Frank Sinatra.
Maybe the most congenial way to sing this phenomenal song. If you need more passion and soul there is always Franco Corelli,Giuseppe di Stefano,Mario del Monaco and more recently Francesco Valpa.
@klokheten This is simply the most beautiful version of this song I have ever heard.Passion? No more passion can be mustered that this performance.,I have hear several of the other versions you have mentioned as passionate and soulful and none compares to Buti's version.I heard lot of screaming and self indulgent perfomances. No one can sing this like Buti.Period.The Golden voice of velvet. It is soothing, soulful, passionate and most important,Beautiful.
What a sweet voice. I had a lady, who actually knew Gigli, tell me that my singing reminded her of Gigli. I don't agree, this man is much more like him.
As always, your visuals enhance the mood of the song. Thank you for sharing the exquisite pleasure that Carlo Buti brings to our lives. Merry Christmas!!!
This song is exactly 100 years old. It was composed in 1911 by S. Cardillo

I would like to know to which Di Stefano recording others are referring to, he made so many.

There are several versions by GDS on YT
I suspect they are referring to the one

Core N' Grato is very popular and has been done by many singers. Which is the "best" is really a matter of opinion.
Buti's is more quiet and introspective. Others are more dramatic or passionate.
one version does not negate another.. it's just how it moves YOU.

I for one have never heard this lovely song sung better, nor a video and song so perfectly matched. Thank you.

Try Di Stefano. He's the difference, I'd say, between perfect and divine.

That is one of my favorite Napolitanian songs and Carlo Buti does such a fabulous rendition. It brings me back to the shores of Italy.
