• I'm happy you enjoyed the Americans

  • Americans aren't as bad as you might think...

  • I agree. Then again I am one so there ya go.

  • ur like a grandpa to me :)

  • Love the Cash at the end.

  • Dentistry = License To Steal. They suck!

  • i hate going to the dentists, mainly because my teeth are very bad cause I eat way too much sugared foods, mainly chocolate, i am too much of a chocoholic

  • Ah Mr G! You've resurrected memories of Dr Dunn, circa 1949. He used 'vocal anesthesia'. "Now this won't hurt for long". I could count the rpms of his drill, which would hang-up periodically. At least it didn't work from a foot readle. He would give me a fishing "plug" for my bravery, which was given to him by my father. A friend was dissapointed when he wasn't treated the same. Dr. Dunn, Dad RIP.

  • I can't seem to get enough of this stuff from you. Thank you.

    Jaime

  • What great stories you tell. Thanks so much for sharing them here.

  • Your wonderful Peter! I live with my grandparents who were born in 1916 and 1919 and I adore them. What I get from you and them is priceless....Wisdom!

  • Can you turn the sound up a tad bit from your end? I have my computer as loud as it can go. Some of us old folks can't hear all that well any more, you know.

  • that is the pink floyd "the wall" poster behind him. this old man is awsome.

  • Peter, you have a such a wonderful gift. Listening to you talk about the dentist, I swear I could smell that rubber "bib", and that dreadful laughing gas! No wonder we were scared! And today, you can get novocaine just to have a tooth filled! Ahhhh! Progress in medicine! I can remember no such thing as insurance for the dentist - or even the doctor, (or for that matter, car insurance).

  • Dear Peter, All to often there are great words said of a person when the person is no longer able to hear them.

So I wanted you to hear these words now.

You may not like to hear that we love you as much as our own family but we do.

You have shared your memories, your love, your joys, your sorrows, and your fears.

You are a real person that we adore.

God has a reason for everything and I am glad that you are being sent to us.

  • I AGREE 100% what an amazing man there should be an award for him

  • I tried to claim him as a Knight but he doesn't wish to accept that. He is a woderful yet humble man.

Can you imagine the world if all people were nice like he is?

I also had a hard time trying to find your comment on this thing. I never had one before. :o)

  • Your voice is very soothing, and I love to listen to you talk about things. You could be talking about how a fan spins around and make it interesting.

  • You have achieved immortality. Do you realise that? I'll link back to your videos for a long time.

  • Brilliant, Brilliant, Brilliant Pete (I feel I have to call you mister or Sir as you are someone to be admired) Love your posts, love your insights. Like listening to my late granddad. Inspirational, big guy!

  • Is that a Pink Floyd "The Wall" poster behind you?

  • Yes, from The Wall.

  • Thank you.

  • I enjoy your videos. They are a joy to watch. My folks can't even use the computer or the internet. Keep it real sir and i hope to be active at your age:)

  • Great post Peter. I really enjoy listening to your stories. You brightned up this rainy day.

  • Guys and gals how don't like his videos then you don't need to watch then. Don't cuse him out and talking about his movies negitively. That is the nice thing about the U.S.A that you can have the choice to watch videos or not.

  • Nice work dude!,shame im not 76 or whatever, the i could do what you do.

then again being old suckz and you go all wrinkly man!

  • you r a muppet....plain and simple....and you my friend r already dead, as u aint got a life....muppets comment....

  • Marvelous as usual.

  • you need to remember that the majority of people watching you were brought up on fluoride, unlikie us. My dad has no teeth at all and I have a mouth full of fillings. My boyfriend (26 years my junior) has beautiful teeth, does not even know what a filling is, and never visits the dentist.

  • Hello Peter,

Great story as usual. Please tell us what were your aspirations when you were about 15 years old( were they different from your friends).

Sorry for asking again if you have already mentioned in one of your previous stories.

    Thanks Peter,

    Knocker101

  • I have watched a few of your blogs and have really noticed since the last I've seen you have sure come a long way tenchnically. I have never done a video yet but if I do I hope I can do as well as you are.

  • Completely fantastic. I am going to subscribe now. Please keep sharing your life with the world.

  • So, why are you here?

  • whats wrong with you ardana

  • Hi Peter. I'm a 55 yr old mom in upstate NY and love watching your videos. I especially got a kick out of your impressions of the US servicemen in the war. My dad was a Captain and told us many stories of his time overseas. Wish he was still alive to watch and listen to you. Keep it up!!!

  • That laughing gas sounds horrible, I'm glad now we have better anaesthetic. :) And those Americans sound like they were so cool! Anyway, thank you for all your videos, they're all so interesting. I could just listen to them forever! :) (And I also thought it was pretty cool that you have the same Pink Floyd poster as me...)

  • I must say you are very cool! I hope I'm as Awesome as you when I'm 80!

    Thanks! Keep doing your thing!

  • Im ready for a new blog now : )

  • YOUR AMAZING...as i said in my vid :)

  • This is the first time I seen you! I have some catching up to do, don't I? I study Gerontology and have been delighted to come across this on YOU TUBE. Keep sharing your life and legacy!

  • You're still alive?

  • You're still drunk?

  • once again, you hold me spellbound. i love your accounts of another day.

  • good video, I feel very fortunate to have been concieved at a time when the dentistry has improved dramatically. I would also just like to share my routine for keeping a good set of teeth. I use both an electric bursh to start with and after, a regular which I feel you can put more muscle behind to scrape all the crap away. Mouthwash I find does make the cleaning better and of course flossing is essential.

  • I remember the laughing gas. We called it sweet air and it was GREAT!

  • Even in the last decade or so, dentistry has vastly improved. I hadn't been for nearly twelve years - not so much for fear of the inevitable fillings, but for the anaesthetic - and I was amazed at just how painless it's become. Dentists learn relaxation methods, and there are topical gels and such that make the whole process a breeze.

  • thanks peter

  • Hello Piter.

Thank you for another great video.

This one I found very internating. I laugh a lot. Espeashally at chewing gum and lather apron. Now I know that you have a telent to tell stories.

  • now there's a website?

  • Peter rules!

  • Arr, let me sit in your knee while you light a pipe and tell me stories all night long.

  • Uggghhh! HATE dentists! But, I like a pretty smile, so I guess we have to have 'em! Thanks, as usual, for the story! (is it true that so many Brits have teeth like Austin Powers? -in the first movie!)

  • ugh. the dentist. I remember them coming to my school with those nasty tasting pink 'cherry' flavored things that they made us chew to show where we missed brushing. Well that morning i sort of 'forgot' to brush my teeth and they made me an example to everyone in the classroom as to what your mouth looks like if you dont brush. I still need therapy..

  • I like you the way you are Peter! I listen to every video and I love it. My grandpa is no longer here for me. Even though he was here up until a year ago, he was not here. He mind had been gone for so long that I never remeber him ever being normal. I missed out on all the stories, at least we all have your stories.

    Laura

  • Hehehe. Thanks :)

  • To Peter: Here's another big thank you for your generosity to share all these nice memories with us and congratulations for your narrative skills and your ability to present yourself and not let all the success get to your head;-) Good luck for all the episodes to come and very best wishes.

  • I hate the dentist for several reasons...

    1) The nurses are mean - all they talk about are their lunch breaks.

    2) It wastes time - Too much time is spent in the waiting room.

    3) Scary - I'm afraid she's gonna tear my jaw out

  • This is more a question to other 'fans' than a direct comment: As a recent joiner I now need to catch up with Peter's old entries. While with time I will undoubtedly have seen them all, could anybody perhaps point out the 'essential' episodes for a start? Thank you and apologies if this has been posted in the wrong place

  • as someone who has been watching Sir Peter since his start I suggest just watching them in order.

  • I agree with Irish. Just like a book is better when read it from the beginning, so are Sir Peter's videos wonderful from beginning to now. It's worth it to see them all from the start.

    nienna

  • Peter...I had never even heard of YouTube until my son asked me to look at a video he had posted. That was the day I discovered your videos. Thank you so much for sharing your memories, all very interesting. Keep it up and God Bless!

    Love from Pennsylvania, USA

  • laughing gas really can make you laugh uncontrolably , even though nothing is funny ! Its fantastic stuff had it when giving birth to my 2 children works a treat for the pain ( to being with !) its now sold in clubs by the balloon full !

  • Hello :) I'm fascinated with your videos. I'm 17 and still terrified of the dentist!!! Perhaps I'll grow out of it like you. I love your voice!!! Thanks for posting...

    Kamila

  • My father was in GB during WWII and always spoke very kindly of the children. He thought they were very polite and well mannered compared to US kids. So perhaps you did not pester them as much as you thought.

  • Great story, as usual!!!

  • his british accent and delivery style is so gentle.

    care for a spot o'tea,guvner?

  • The necktie is a good addition to the character of this video. Stay with it now. :)

  • Yikes - I don't like the dentist now, so thinking of having to go then would have terrified me too! I am glad you shared the story and can laugh about it now, at the time i'm sure you weren't laughing!

Also, thanks for answering our questions - you're so awesome to spend time with us.

    ~Rose

  • I love your stories. Thank you so much for sharing them. You are the best! :)

  • u are more interesting than those young dudes, really....we can learn alot from the older generations i believe. i wish you health for long years to come.

  • peter....no matter what people say...youre videos are fine the way they are...if you rehearse, then something will be lost. there is something to be said for the candid manner in which you present your stories. i wouldnt change a thing...just keep em coming...youre vids are a bright light in the dark ignorant world we live in

  • Very cool, and educational. You have good taste in music as well. Please keep posting them! However, I kind of liked the gas... heh heh

  • Nitrous oxide sounds alot nice then the needles today.

  • Great story! One of my favorites (being native american/Italian) I've always liked the dentist but that was because I didn't take care of my teeth when I was young (mostly pretending to brush because I have a HORRIBLE gag reflex and have a hard time brushing even today) I was blessed with really strong enamel on my teeth and so nothing really happened to me at the dentist....that wasn't the case for my other 11 siblings (like I said Italian=Catholic)

  • Peter, great story, as usual. The part about the dentist was so good-You described the sights and sounds so well. It was also nice to hear about the Americans in Briton during the war. Oh, by the way, the more dressy look of the tie is nice.:-)

  • You're really a good man. I love watching ur videos. I am a big fan!

  • i remember the pins and needles and i am a lot younger than you!!!

i guess that our dentristry didn't get better. i am not suprised that my teeth cost me a small fortune later :)

  • Very cool range of music, man.. in your videos I've heard Simon and Garfunkel, Vera Lynn, Queen, Johhny Cash, and now I see that Pink Floyd poster behind you in this video :). Keep posting stories!

  • Dentists are so cool now, but I remember going to one who was not child friendly nor did he particularly strike me as adult friendly. They thought they had a purpose and it had nothing to do with making you comfortable.

  • Hi i love listening to your stories and everything. But i don't know what goes on with them sometimes. Is your microphone futher away from your mouth on some videos? I have to turn my volume up really hig on some of them :(

  • Excellent video..and how British thought of American troops during WWII was one of my curiosities too! Thanks for touching on that.

  • Only boring thing around here is your comment cannonstepback, ask yourself why you bothered, coz we all are

  • youre a turd..and prolly 12....dont have anything nice to say?...then go back to playing WoW and leave the adult things to adults

  • YAY Grandpa Peter replied to my comment.

Big love to you G.P (Grandpa Peter)

  • Excellent as always Peter Thank you!!

  • Excellent work Peter, your stories are the best, I hate the dentist myself hehe! :)

  • awsome bit on the dentist! I think i need to get my 81 year old grandpa on youtube to tell his stories. He speaks in a rather thick appalachian vernacular.

  • Always a pleasure, Peter. May I say you've become quite the film-maker/editor over the last few months.

  • nice

  • This was a great video as always Peter, I love hearing your stories. :-)

  • Enough with the videos. You are a male Nornna

  • Peter you are a legend. The stories are sensational, you should have a television series!!

  • Great stories Peter! Thanks!

    Mr. & Mrs. GeezerArt

  • Peter, is there a problem with the sound on this video? I've got it turned to max, but can barely hear you.

  • Hi Peter - I am a 55 yr old mom from upstate ny and really enjoyed your view of Americans during WWII.

It's always fun and interesting to hear how we were viewed by the Brits then. My dad was a Captain in the war.Keep it up - I enjoy your videos immensely!

  • I respect, you sir.

You are telling all this it is very Educating i find you, damn right nice guy. I rate this 5 star, and i really hope you keep them coming :)

  • nice job on directors account

  • nice outfit baby.

  • Looking very smart and sexy Peter. (Now I really am bisexual then!) I get really paranoid about the dentists now so I feel for you back in "the good ol' days"

  • Great video! Those dentist sound very brutal.

  • ty peter

  • Always a pleasure. You are better than the Sunday Morning newspaper. Thanks Peter!

  • lol aw

  • Brilliant Peter. The dentists then were butchers, but now things have improved a lot. Don't like the drill though! Whinge: Can't stand Johnny Cash (or Vera Lynn for that matter) - too whiney. Gimme blues anytime.

  • When I was a kid, the dentist's drill was a slow affair involving a series of arms and pulleys that damn near vibrated my shoes off. Novocaine, gas, or other pain killers were considered an extravagance for the extremely weak, so all the drilling went on while I, rigid bodied, had a death grip on the arm rests. The smell I hated was the stench of burning tooth.

  • I hope the dentist trip is quick and uneventful.

  • Hey, I really like your videos. Thanks for sharing all the thoughts. And I still was a bit afraid of the dentist but not anymore after I heard this story :S thanks again!

  • you rule! Thank You somuch for doing this!

  • Awesome. I've read about how once (before Peter's time) dentists were often just regular barbers, and they had no injections or gas, etc. All people had back then to block some of the pain of extractions was alcohol.

  • Us British have better teeth thanyou Yankis.

  • I just love your stories Peter!

  • You cool old man!

  • No i take that back, its real cool keep up the good work. You are mutch more intressting then lonelygirl.

  • Hi Peter

I remember when I had a tooth out. It bled all day, not a lot so I just swallowed the blood. When I woke in the morning my pillow duvet and my girlfriends silk pj's were covered in blood and had to be thrown out

  • Peter you could write a book my friend. The "Memoirs of Peter" you could call it. I'd buy a copy. I love your stories.

    Thanks - SpringDivers

  • i'm getting my wisdom teeth out in a few weeks, im petrafied!

  • why do you delete peoples comments?

  • you think your full of yourself by making a minute long intro of just your picture and some lullaby music playing?

  • As a child I used to hang off the door handles at the dentist and would not let go!!! Interestingly enough I later became a dental nurse and it wasn't so bad afterall.

  • When we were kids we had a dentist who hated children (at least he gave every indication during our torture sessions that he hated children) and the result was that I was terrified of dentists for most of my life. The last time I went the power went off and they had to do a temporary filling by the light os a propane torch! I had visions of the dentist going up in flames during the procedure!

  • It would be nice to see some of your artwork, Peter. I always enjoy your videos. Thanks.

  • It would be nice to see some of your artwork, Peter. Keep up the great videos. Thanks.

  • It´s nice listening to you. greetings from Patagonia Argentina!!!

  • Great video, Grandpa! ^_^

    -Shlie

  • Good Day Peter!

    I think you're awesome!

    -Sass Toronto, Canada

  • I may have missed the video where you may have discussed your interest, or initial exposure, to blues music. How did you develop your interest there?

    "cat"

  • It's good for young Americans like me to meet someone from Britain who was around during the war. It puts a face on our ally, and helps me understand why our firendship started and why it should continue. You're doing a great service to far more people than you could ever know.

  • I just went to the dentist and had 6 teeth pulled out, last week. I had an injection instead of the gas, but it pretty much felt the same. The worst part is I can't eat anything solid yet, but good job on the video and keep them coming. :D

  • great video peter and a bit ironic that an englander is talking about a visit to the dentist with all the common jokes about the english and their poor dental hygiene.ah well,a tad frightening too-i am glad that i didn't have to go thru the brutal nature of dentistry as it once was..

    cheers,

    randy

    <:+)

  • pretty pathetic prose,pip <:+)

  • you look so nice all dressed up, but then again you always do, wanna go on a date lol. I think everyone has been a little apprehensive about going to the dentist at one point or another, it's good you have a friedn there, but you're friends with everyone. It's amazing how dentistry has changed over time. Thanks for another outstanding video. You're so amazing. As always love and prayers are with you!

  • Hm maybe it's just me but I don't see him as being very dressed up. He simply doesn't have his sweater on and is wearing a tie. But that's irrelivant, on any case great video Peter. I've been watching you sinse you first came on youtube and I've never gotten tired of listening to you. ^_^

  • You're looking very dapper Peter :)

  • is that a pink floyd poster behind you bud? your videos and talk have obviously taken on some following, speaking as an absolute non agist and a younger gay man in the minority (a gay man who prefers mature men!!! god forbid! and my partner is as old as you!) the reason behind your success is simple, genuine people are hard to come by these days, too many followers of fashion, advertising etc etc. too many robots. You are a star and keep the videos coming!! all the best.

  • Hello Peter,

You look good and video over ten minutes,WOW! Director - way over due Peter. Thank you again. Take care.

  • Thanks Peter for yet again another great video.

My mum & dad told similar stories @ the dreaded

DDS :( Thanks again, Liz, OC, CA

  • great video, i feel lucky to be in this age

  • Well done Peter, another nice video, I'm still scared of going to the dentist, I don't know if its the pain of dentistry or the pain of paying.

  • looking very sharp

  • excellent video, peter. keep it up!

  • I love you dude. =]

    Never stop!

  • you awesome man!

    -John

    Toronto, ON Canada

  • quite dapper, peter. how smart you look. the intro scared me so much!

  • OH I forgot to thank you for the Simon and Garfunkle song at the beginning. You sure are diverse in your musical tastes! That's very cool, Sir.

interesting that so many people are commenting on your tie. I think you look fine in everything but if I HAD to choose, I think I like the sweaters best. I bet you never thought people would notice what you wear. :-)

    thanks again

    nienna from oregon usa

  • I'm a new subsciber, I enjoy your videos', I really like how much detail! goes into all of them. Only thing now is I've got to catch up on your other videos'. Cheers! -Logan, 25, Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada

  • Aww I know how you felt. I have a fear of dentists but slowly getting over it and my teeth are getting better.

  • another great video Peter... look at you all suited up! looking very spiffing.

I cant even begin to imagine those dentist visits, no wonder you hated it.

    Criss.

  • that is how i felt when i first came to canada, i thought it was mars or something(culture shock?) but it was fascinating lol.. oh well childhood.

  • Another outstanding insight!

  • Yikes! I hate the dentist too but I didn't go through anything as horrific as that! Your vids keep getting better, love the music and the pics. Add in more of you as a handsome young man so the younger ones can see how wonderfully you have aged. Thanks Peter!

  • Lookin good geriactric

  • You look great Peter... all dressed up and snazzy. :) Thanks for another great video. Laf

  • tank you for what u are doing.. We are standing with u Strong.. because this is a vital mission. a free Iraq will send a powerful message to the middleeast

  • Just have to say, I like your videos alot, I'm 26 and I am stunned by your ability to adapt to new technology and your brave approach to it all.

I think its very important work you do aswell, as this gives young teenagers a unique view of recent history, these are videos they view from free will, as opposed to the things they are teached at school, this makes it good education in my opinion. Its important to learn from the past. keep up the good work :) cheers!

  • youre all dressed up! lovely

  • I well remember having a number of teeth out in England in about 1940.Afterwards I went to my grandmothers in a state of euphoria, which I have never since achieved, and lay on a bed laughing very happily for about half an hour. Maybe dentists should bring it back into use.Business would probably boom.

  • I'm surprised you weren't forever traumatized and scared of the dentist after that experience as a child!

  • "The Club"!?! *lightning*

Im only joking, i love listening to your stories. A tin of toothpaste? .. to quote my gran "its all changed". Awesome tie btw. I think you still have pawn shops here and there, they just try to glam them up a bit. Isnt cash converters one?

Your glasses just popped on!! :-O Its a miracle!!!

  • I hate the dentist but if you think about it what would your teeth look like if the dentist was not there, then it would make you want to go to the dentist lol.... Anyways have a awesome day and thinks for the storys :)

  • Just had some dental work done myself, Peter. Small world. Thank you for the WONDERFUL details of history. You are so very captivating and as always - a gentleman and a scholar.

    Jamie

    Commerce, TX USA

  • Wonderful video and wonderful intro. You're our bridge over troubled water, Peter. Thanks so much.

  • Another amazing video.

Oh, I loved the title too. Great choice of song. :)

  • sorry i have to unsubscribe.

  • It's funny that you would mention the dentist... I gotta go monday for a cavity, I really hope its nothing like that. I don't go the dentist very often, because I tend to keep my teeth clean.

  • Wonderful as always.

  • nice
