  • Beautiful I think every garden should have a Cynthia playing for them so relaxing and peaceful.. I think the family of poor Jamie would be pleased you mentioned him in the vid.

  • Bhain mé sult mor as.

    EIRINN GO BRATH !

  • very nice and played with true feelings

  • in guess the angels must sing something like this celtic harp in God's face

  • I don't know exactly what is but the sound of this harp have something specialy that touches mee deep in my soul. Perhaps is tha sound close to long distance church bells. But its sound invites me to dream a better world and a better life to all people. Sometimes listenning it I don't know why but it makes me cry.

  • I think this is my favorite Cynthia Cathcart (Ha ha for some reason I am always getting "Cathcart" mixed up with "Cartwright" from the old TV show "Bonaza") I just found out about these harps and I decided that is the only kind I would even consider getting! I think the one she is playing here is called "The Rose" . I think the drums add a nice effect but it is just as good without it! :-)

  • I'm glad you find this little video inspiring! I look forward to hearing you play some day!

You are right, this is the Rose harp. Glad you liked the drums, that's my husband Eric playing them. :-)

  • what's with the overdubbing? can't wire harp stand on its own unique, lovely sound?

  • Cynthia, thank you very much for your great play on this tune. I love this tune very much. The arrangement of Drams which are joining gradually from two third of the video is also good contribution to this tune. This is really magnificent!

  • Thank you. I'm really glad you enjoyed the video, especially since the tune is special to you. --Cynthia

  • Having seen you play often I never realized how light your touch was. After listening to the many other recordings here on YouTube, I believe your students have an excellent example to follow. Bravo!

  • Very nice....she is very nice wire strung player..

its a shame that she is not actualy playing it.

    nice video

  • Dear Euphorbia74, Keep an eye on my channel. I'm launching another vid very soon and have plans to show you some live stuff! Including some music from her new Christmas Carol book you might be interested in. Thanks!

  • Hello.

thank you .... i m looking foward to see those new videos which i am sure are excellent!

  • Just beautiful! She is so serene and poised and the music is exquisite. Not bad camera work either! It's wonderful to see her showing 'em how it's supposed to be done!

  • Hi - intrigued - what's the other instrument playing along with the harp before the percussion comes in?

I love the sound of the wire-strung - this one sounds particularly rich.

  • Good question; rosewood marimba of all things! For the session, we had envisioned a British Regiment somewhere in the Orient, thus the finger cymbals and huge gong at the end. But pairing the marimba was a fluke... and it really worked out with the wire-strung and added an exotic element. And it is a dickens to mic the wire harps.. They don't kick out a lot of sound so a good microphone is a must. Thanks for asking!

  • hi !

thanks for the great moment ! I paly too this tune and i put my music some sound of war, It meotional that this tune evoqque soldat and war !

    Great job !

    regards

    Eve

  • Thanks Eve! Your version of the tune was really fun to hear... I really liked the intro. Nice playing! Look us up if ever in the States. Eric

  • @evemctelenn It is NOT a military tune - it was first played on the uillean pipes, collected by Bunting in the early 1800s. I've always felt it to be evocative of the gentle green hilly landscape of Ireland, and find it obscene to hijack it for militarism.

  • Absolutely lovely music, lovely woman and lovely video.I could watch this til the cows come home. Please can we see more vids of your playing.

  • Jim, the highest complements I could never have imagined! Thank you. Cynthia is on tour and currently in Montana for a harp conference. She could not believe we pulled this off when I told her today on the phone she was finally on YouTube. What a grand way to start!!! Thank you for you support and hopefully we can add more our our DNA into the machine. Any advise from a 'pro' would be greatly appreciated!- Eric Cathcart
