  • the drumwork is uncomparable

  • The lyrics are simply beautiful ;_;

  • VUELVAN A JUNTARSE

  • @LPmusicLP apoyo la moción!!!! que vuelva oceansize!!!

  • You all write so long comments that I can't understand... So I'll just listen this video.

  • so much worthy of laudation, they are, thery are!!

  • I just noticed that Mike is playing a Gibson during this song. I've never seen him on anything but a Fender.

  • @RedSandStudios It's a Gretsch, not a Gibson, but yeah. As far as I'm aware he would only get it out for this song live (it's the only point you see it on the Feed To Feed dvds), although it says in the liner notes he used it a bit while recording Self Preserved. There's a video elsewhere on youtube where they walk through their gear and he says he has an endorsement deal with Fender or some such. His main strat's actually an 80s Squire though.

  • @rlesbirel Thanks for pointing that out. There are a good few guitars that look very similar to Gibsons. My friend has a hollow body Yamaha that looks just like one as well. I remember Mike saying how he upgraded that cheap 80 strat and made it sound amazing.

  • @RedSandStudios Yeah, he said on that vid he put Dimarzio pickups in it, though in the "thank yous" for Self Preserved he says he uses Bare Knuckles. Either way them 80s Squires were pretty decent anyway.

Me and the other guitarist in my band had a really sad moment the other day when we realised that between us we can actually fairly accurately recreate most of Mr. Vennart's pedalboard with our own gear, I didn't know whether to laugh or cry.

  • I'm so fucking pissed off I never saw them live. Possibly could've been the greatest live act ever.

Oh well, though. Maybe down the road, 'Size will have a reunion, but until then I'll thoroughly support each band member's projects. Thoroughly looking forward to Mike's solo work as well as British Theatre, which is Gambler and Mike.

In the end, it all balances itself out.

  • WTF, did this band split? WHY!?!?!

  • there is so much passion in this piece of music and everything is in its place, it really brings tears to my eyes

  • This song has had such a huge influence on me and my music. I'll never forget how amazing this band was. Oceansize <3

  • 'Time won't change a thing when I'm gone...'

Goodbye Oceansize :( thousands of people will never forgot how groundbreaking your music is, and how they felt when they first heard it. Thanks for everything you ever did.

  • i was lucky enough to see this band live twice. But i look back and wander if i appreciated them enough. Miss them alot now.

a huge influence on me and our music as a band.

Please check us out, we aren't trying to fill their shoes or claiming to be worthy to lick their feet.

    but you may like us!

    Luna Kiss

  • What a beautiful song. Wish I could have seen them live. :'(

  • Oceansize have split up. Thanks for all your music guys!!!

    Greetings from Barcelona, good luck!!

    Isaac

  • Such a sad day in the music history....this band was really one of a kind to me and their split hit me right in the soul like no other band did before.hope they reconsider their decision in a near by future,in the meanwhile we'll always have amazing oceansize songs like this one and its funny because they're not the picture anymore but they will always be the frame, one very important frame....

  • A sad day for all music today. They really were one of the best bands, period. They will be missed.

"I am not the picture now

    I am the frame"

  • @awalczak08

    Fucking well put man!

  • uhh disappointed that no one I know told me about this band, had to discover them through the announcement of their breakup

  • @erockerock238 same here man. its sad:(

  • Can't believe they have split up. Gutted! Just listened to this track and started crying like a big girl. A sad sad day for British music.

  • dvd is bought, right now.!!! I can´t describe my emotions during these fantastic 10 minutes. It´s so sad that there are so many poeple out there who will never feel the same. Thank you for this Art. This is my way to find peace of mind.

Who needs a doctor if you can hear Oceansize?! excuse my english-skills

  • Osize are the definition of math-rock, let me explain:

    3 2 3 2 1 - 3 2 3 2 1 - 3 2 3 3 2 1 - 3 2 3 3 2 1 -

That's the opening guitar in compound timing, add them all up and you have a recuring sequence of 50 beats. That's the first guitar bit in a nutshell...

    Second guitar bit is...

    6 4 6 1 -

This kicks in at the beginning and the 3rd section of the first guitar sequence...

    The 3rd part is...

    3 2 2 2 - 3 2 2 2 -

The most interesting, since it's odd, it gives the alternating feel...

  • @Orpheus063 That is really cool actually! I didn't notice that!

  • @MrMuddyBleach Yeah Osize are one of my favourite crazy time-signiture using bands, everyone should check out Miocene too they are badass. =D

  • @Orpheus063 Your're damn right!

  • that

    was

    awesome

  • @andy1908

so true man ... i can wrap my head around eits music, but never around the music of oceansize. i, also, still like explosions.

  • you guys are one of the best progressive rock bands of the last 10 years believe it or not dudes

  • nice jam, but this piece needs a perfection of studio vesion to explode in the mind.

  • 0:49 - 0:52 fap fap fap fap

  • 2 Dislikes? Those two faggots can go fuck each other.

  • I am quite amazed by this band. Stumbled upon them in Pandora and never knew - Most excellent !

  • Best band in the world.

  • ora ya!!!!!!!!!

  • Chills down my spine

  • incredible song.

  • Perfect yet again

  • I find this incredibly beautiul, in every sense of the word,

and thats one hell of a thing for me to say!!!!

  • This guys has just enter in my TOPS bands in this momento!

  • I went to see Smashing Pumpkins at the MEN Arena at the start of 2008, and only found out on the day that these guys were supporting. I'd never even heard of them so was kind of disappointed. Then the show started, and it was like being hit with a wall of noise (in a good way). I've never, ever enjoyed a concert so much in my life - and I was actually gutted when they left the stage and SP came on. They've been my favourite band ever since, I'm so glad I got to experience them in a big arena.

  • @THelperCell I had been listening to them for a little bit before I saw them for their first and hopefully not last Australian tour. Ever since that show they were my favourite aswell.

  • So moving... Oceansize makes music to flow through you, really inside

  • they are so much better than so many bands that try to be emotional and technical

  • awesome !!

  • It's great music.

  • I've never really listened to Oceansize much before...But this is really beautiful

  • Band's so fucking solid it hurts.

  • i can't say anything after watchn' this video...

  • The beginning sounds like Explosions In the Sky.

  • Dreamy...

  • come to mexicoooooo !!!!!!!!

  • Приезжайте в Россию!!!

  • Please come play in America...

  • the frame...very2 great album from oceansize!

    superb performance!!!!!!!!!

  • Why did someone vote me down? They've called themselves progressive death indie (it's a joke), it's not like I'm mocking them or anything.

  • Love this band!!!

  • Sometimes, when I go to bed, I leave my laptop turned on playing "The frame"... and I fall asleep listening to this beautiful song, It's like a lullaby to me. One of their best songs.

  • Hey dude! That's one of my favourite 'size songs aswell! :)

  • its pretty awesome to wake up to aswell. stayed at my bfs one night and he had tis album on repeat and i woke up and was listening to it for agess, it was great

  • Sounds really cool. I'll have to try, =)

  • awesome band! her spund, her style is very very cool! than! from chile!

  • Best band ever. It's a shame they are so underground. I think they deserve much more credit than most bands out there.

  • @oneeyedcreepydude

The flip side of that is they keep their music good. Getting too much exposure often kills bands. People forget Biffy Clyro were an awesome post-hardcore band back in the day.

They saw the limelight and money, and the music has suffered.

  • can't wait to see them on the weekend!

  • They're obviously progressive death indie.

  • It's amazing how such simple chords be transfigured into something awesome.

This is a nice, peaceful closure to a perfectly crafted album.

  • I need to get me this DVD.

  • 'tis coming out in america in a few weeks, go for it! even importing it was totally worth the 40$

  • SCOTT =D hehehe <3

  • Роскошное произведение. Одно из лучших Oceansize.

  • haha the tags on this video are the best

  • thanks...

  • I've seen these twice now and they really are amazing! Seeing as though everyone has a job putting them in a genre why don't they just make one called goosebumpcore or something??

  • because they're emotive proggressive post rock. From manchester. They HAVE a genre dearie.

  • Emo prog post rock ?! That's not a genre, lol, thats a list! And what is relevant about them being from Manc? Honestly Darling...

  • I suppose it is list-like but honestly its what they are. Manchester is relevant because of national pride damnit. >:l

Emo != emotive. Difference there. (no really wikipedia told me so)

  • List like?! That is a blatant stonker of a list. I will agree with you that they're post prog rock but I can't stand anything being labelled as "emotive". Normally if a song has been written by a human and not some dog turd masquerading as one like Lady Gaga or someone of that ilk then it will conjure emotions. I'm from Merseyside anyway so this argument has taken on a different, much more regional meaning to me now...

  • Lol. Glasgea here. :)

But emotive ah bugger. wikipedia proves me wrong. They're apparently space rock too. Just like amplifier! :D

I totally understand the emotional definition. But then again I'd have to say there are some things I'd define as emotive over others. Say, Incubus I would not define as emotive. The Mars Volta I would say is emotive (on specific albums), The Offspring I would not say is emotive, its more like complaining. LOL.

  • Aah seeing as though you mentioned The Volta all is forgiven. Lol. And I like the fact that you called me dearie in your first post, I doubt any other word sounds better in a Glaswegian accent. :D

  • \o/

I've not got a strong one unfortunately. Though oddly enough when I'm drinking I get a Leicestershire accent. :D

    DEARIE.

  • I think Dream Rock/Art Rock/Space Rock fits them better.

  • Oceansize create an atmosphere and give me goosebumps like no other band can. Honestly, in my eyes, they are the most intense emotive band around.

  • beautiful song.

    My Favourite band.

    its original !!!!

    dont compare!!

  • Take it all as a package as it is intended. The build-up makes the ending intensity even more extreme! :)

  • do something alredy man

  • i want mikes guitar a left handed gretch wow amazing band amazing song amazing lyrics amazing song just amazing

  • I can't seem to find this DVD in the US. Anyone know of an outlet that sells their DVD?

I guess buying the import on Amazon is always last resort, but why pay all that add'l cashola unless it's the only way.

  • But, it a very good live version. Saw them live in the Netherlands in July. They are freaking awesome. Blew me away =)

  • supporting porcupine tree? ent that small :)

  • They are so much better than Porcupine Tree.

  • They are ALSO good but I wouldn't say they are better. ;)

  • lol no. just no

  • I would have to agree with the fact that these guys have taken it one step further, porcupine tree have been my favourite band for several years and i still think steven is a genious mastermind, but oceansize aren't even music anymore...theyr'e something more than that, they bring up emotions you didn't think music could...long live the new king 'size!

  • well they play different styles so it wouldnt really be right to compare the two.

both are my favorite bands though :)

  • I think 10,000 days is a very different album than their other work, not in a negative way. It reminds me a lot of Godspeed You! Black Emperor. I love it.

But you are right in a way, as I would like to see Oceansize live in the near future for less than €30. Although, if they would get biiger I might actually have a chance of getting my hands on their EP's here in Belgium?

  • of course that was in relation to

    tr1ploid's:

I think 10,000 days is a very different album than their other work, not in a negative way. It reminds me a lot of Godspeed You! Black Emperor.

  • yes actually, there's the same type of build up, progressive structures, use of ambient... Say what you want, but the similarities are there.

  • Oceansize ROCKS....

Every time i listen to this song, i've got tears in my eyes, and this live version is just too perfect to be real.

I hate you guys, i have to buy the DVD now...

  • this band really has to get bigger fast...

they're so great, made 3 mindblowing albums,

seen them twice, i want to see them play bigger stages!!

i am a big fan of Tool, but i think in a way Oceansize is equally great and still so small :(

  • I'd prefer they stay the way they are =)

Otherwise they'll be making Oceansize vs. Lil'Wayne songs in a short amount of time. omg?

  • Well yes that's a good point - so did I.

I then went on to purchase their music as it's only fair to reward artists for their efforts; unfortunately i bet we're in a minority.

  • dude!!

I bought the dvd ...but its out of stock!

    I have to be patience...

Im so glad to see this video!!

"I just hope no more of the DVD surfaces online."; Sorry but I dont think that way.

I came to Oceansize by internet.

  • I second the posters comments as an owner of this DVD, you'll not be disappointed.

I just hope no more of the DVD surfaces online.
