Cathay Pacific Boeing 747-400 landing into Tokyo Narita

That can't be Narita! The sun is out. No turbulence on approach. Not crabbed 30 degrees in a crosswind. People not clapping after hairy approach and landing. LOL I have never seen such an easy approach and landing at Narita.

I Think its something to do with just the sheer amount of people that need to go places by air travel, but only fly a short distance, so it wouldnt be very econominal to use a 737 or A320 Or something...

travelplus1, yes that was a good landing, but not close to the best at all. You should view PAL ,JAL, or EVA. The ones that land in FRA, NRT, etc. You could feel in someways that the tires were banging. On the ones I mentioned, you can't even feel that.

Reverse thrust was used. You should hear the changing of the engine noise...

reverse thrust isnt needed to stop the airplane it is optional but most do cuz they wont to get off the runway as soon as possible

Reverse thrust is crucial to stop the plane or else a possible skid off the runway...

its not really crucial it helps slows the plane brakeing and speed brakes are enough to slow the aircraft down by itself reverse thrust is used to use lesser runway in a busy airport so passenger can get to the gate faster and others cant take off or land
