Marine is 200, 300, 500. and then we also have the range with moving targets, I forget what they called it, all to qual. You have longer deployments, and MOST of those soldiers spend it sitting on a huge fob doing nothing. the marines do ecerything they do on 6% of the military budget. u cant compare sprcial forces to the marines because the marines is a branch, all special forces are units. and for those talkin about the seals, fyi- half of their training is handled by marine nco's.
the one thing all of u in here neglected to mention is that tge marines have their own special forces. force recon and marsoc are just as well trained, if not better trained than any other special force. as a branch, the marines are the best.

@tinmancarnival....the army had it in 2003 when the first invasion occurred. The marines took over that province a year later in 2004 and in that area is fallujah. During the first major battle the marines lost a lot of men and pulled out. Political crap insued and after about 7 months later the marines, army, and british forces with iraq forces finally took over. When you grow up and read a history book you will know the truth. I was in iraq in 2003
@magjr777 When I grow up and read a history book? I have been to "that province" (Al Anbar) to "that area" (Al Fallujah) three times. I was in Phantom Fury, OIF III, and OIF 06-08. I can write a damn history book on Fallujah. The reason that we had to retake Fallujah was because after the Army "secured" the Al-Anbar province and did a poor job of policing it, fighters from Syria, Iran, and Lebanon assembled in the city after the Marine Corps ordered the evacuation.
Now i dunno bout the rest of you but i do know that if you switch from the marine corps to army not only do you not have to go throught boot camp again but you also go up 1-2 ranks....i wonder why that is ....also if you are a marine infantryman and you switch to army you only have to go through about a third of the training as an army ranger also i wonder why it is that army generals protocol to take a hostile urban area is to call the marine corps not the rangers......Hooowah....XD
@Caucasianking91 Actually Marines wishing to join the Army now have to go through BCT as the Army did away with WTC. Also it wasnt just the Marines, if you were Navy/AF you also didnt have to go through Basic. All prior service members would go through WTC. The reason the USMC makes prior service do boot camp is because they want them to develop the esprit de corps that the USMC is known for. So ya its not because you were a Marine that you didnt have to go through Basic its cuz youd go to WCT

Fyi, the marines only took over fallujah because the army finished there deployment and the marines took control of that area of iraq. After the 4 U.S. contractors were killed the marines tried to retaliate by trying to take over fallujah but got jacked up. That's when the army got sent back to help. Then political shit hit the fan. In the final takeover marines and army worked together and with air force strikes we got fallujah.

So because it has the title "Ranger" or "Airborne" doesn't mean it's the end all and be all, sorry.

First and Second Force became MARSOC and then the Marine Corps realized they still needed Force Companies.
@ALBANO2684 MARSOC has the same job of Green berets and SEALs. Despite what these guys say of being able to be a Recon Marine about free falling and being behind enemy lines they only do that in training and the FR lost their air wing so they don't work as well.
Not that I'm saying Marines suck they're are good at what they do but Army Special Operations are the best infantrymen in the world. Rangers will be hitting high value targets and hitting airfields before the USMC sets foot on ground.
@2SixGraders You do realize that aside from airborne insertions, the Rangers were modeled off the Marine Corps infanrty. Read their doctrine, it is almost a direct copy of the Marine Corps infantry except for amphibious assaults.

The only group I noticed was mature enough to not really do this were the Green Berets, because the average age of infantry is 19 years old, the average age of a Green Beret is 30.

@tinmancarnival....the army had it in 2003 when the first invasion occurred. The marines took over that province a year later in 2004 and in that area is fallujah. During the first major battle the marines lost a lot of men and pulled out. Political crap insued and after about 7 months later the marines, army, and british forces with iraq forces finally took over. When you grow up and read a history book you will know the truth. I was in iraq in 2003

@magjr777 When I grow up and read a history book? I have been to "that province" (Al Anbar) to "that area" (Al Fallujah) three times. I was in Phantom Fury, OIF III, and OIF 06-08. I can write a damn history book on Fallujah. The reason that we had to retake Fallujah was because after the Army "secured" the Al-Anbar province and did a poor job of policing it, fighters from Syria, Iran, and Lebanon assembled in the city after the Marine Corps ordered the evacuation.

Now i dunno bout the rest of you but i do know that if you switch from the marine corps to army not only do you not have to go throught boot camp again but you also go up 1-2 ranks....i wonder why that is ....also if you are a marine infantryman and you switch to army you only have to go through about a third of the training as an army ranger also i wonder why it is that army generals protocol to take a hostile urban area is to call the marine corps not the rangers......Hooowah....XD

Also it wasnt just the Marines, if you were Navy/AF you also didnt have to go through Basic. All prior service members would go through WTC. The reason the USMC makes prior service do boot camp is because they want them to develop the esprit de corps that the USMC is known for. So ya its not because you were a Marine that you didnt have to go through Basic its cuz youd go to WCT

Fyi, the marines only took over fallujah because the army finished there deployment and the marines took control of that area of iraq. After the 4 U.S. contractors were killed the marines tried to retaliate by trying to take over fallujah but got jacked up. That's when the army got sent back to help. Then political shit hit the fan. In the final takeover marines and army worked together and with air force strikes we got fallujah.

Marine instructors, and SEALS beat out any weak shit the Army can muster. I've spoken with soldiers on what they thought about Ranger school, they said it was cake. So because it has the title "Ranger" or "Airborne" doesn't mean it's the end all and be all, sorry.

@2SixGraders Recon Marines are not special forces but they are special operations capable.Recon means survellaince,observation,and going beyond enemy lines.They have recon battalions and in each battalion there is a force recon which are deep into enemy territory and direct action.Forcon and Recon alike are the same but you can say basically force is more of a little step above but they all have the same training.MARSOC are marine's special forces.I have worked with marinesmyself as I'm a Ranger

Now to say that MARSOC is not part of the Marine Corps because they are part of SOCOM would be the same as saying that Delta and the Seals don't belong to the Army or the Navy. First and Second Force became MARSOC and then the Marine Corps realized they still needed Force Companies.

@ALBANO2684 MARSOC has the same job of Green berets and SEALs. Despite what these guys say of being able to be a Recon Marine about free falling and being behind enemy lines they only do that in training and the FR lost their air wing so they don't work as well.
Not that I'm saying Marines suck they're are good at what they do but Army Special Operations are the best infantrymen in the world. Rangers will be hitting high value targets and hitting airfields before the USMC sets foot on ground.
