As for the presence of pots and pans... well, without 'em, it wouldn't be kitchen-y, would it? As for microwaving ALL FOOD... eew. Apparently, all food is boiled in the future / past, given the stated date. ^^
As someone who takes immense pleasure in making food, this scenario is an absolute nightmare of bland, boiled foodstuffs... but predictive of microwaveable TV dinners.
