@andexb it only ereases your files if you format the hard drive or the partition. if you just install it, without going to disk utility, then it keeps your files. i hope i could help you.

No, there is a upgrade option if you do not want to do a fresh install!

Why eould u try to boot into the DVD? Everyone else just put the DVD in, clicked install and it started installing in leopard. Then rebooted ALL BY IT SELF in Snow Leopard and finished installation. Try it next time.

With disk utility retore the dmg to a USB Stick. bootable: Then: diskutil list If USb is disk0s2 type: sudo fdisk -e /dev/rdisk0 Return and enter pass f 2 y write y exit And its bootable, or install in Leopard, then you don't need it, this installs 10x faster because DVD's are slow.

If you don't install Rosetta, It deletes PPC binaries in Universal applications. Getting rid of loads printer drivers, and reducing the size of language installations is as far as I am aware what free's disk space. And compression actually increases performance on a fast CPU because the processor is way faster than the disk. I wish HFS+ had compression built in like NTFS or EXT has.

I am saying that that the ASUS G71SG kills the Mac pro. No, im not nut's. The Mac is overrated. MAc doesnt even have a led screen. G71Sg uses a LED screen, wich is better for video and photo editing. Mac is special made for that kinda thngs. So Mac is overrated. ASUS is much better.

I'm pretty unimpressed with snow leopard, only because of the look of the box and the fact when you boot it shows the same welcome video as leopard, and even thats not in fullscreen, just some dumb window version, really feels like they didn't take much time to make it at least feel nice to upgrade, only way you know it's different is the wallpaper.

It isn't just restoring space but counting the space in a different way. Instead of 1024 megabytes for a gigabyte, thus by the total you would have less total gigs, it is 1000 megs to a gig now, all of sudden you have more gigs...

Check the size of your hard drive, not the free space and see.

well it turns out on closer inspection that the reason it appears that you have more free space is because they are counting the GB free incorrectly. Instead of 1024 MB per GB (which is correct, leopard did it), they are counting 1000 MB per GB.
