  • @:50 my ear pussies orgasmed!!

  • Gino was the Alto tech in 92. He's aged out in 85 and was a featured soloist that season. He's a very cool Cat.

  • theres a high quality version of this on the bd website in the mediabox thing. it's under "audio," then "brass," and it's the one called "the menace"

  • I love this..I WISH it was a better recording. Unlike the Bb/F lines today I bet you could hear that a mile away.

  • @mellosrock Actually, there were a couple of shows where we took a 10-15 minute walk away from the the stadium parking lot to warm up, and friends of ours and BD alumni who were in the stands said that they could hear us playing this warm up while there was another corps on the field performing.

  • @TheBigJerk1 I bet! The G horns project SOOO much better.

  • @mellosrock G's had less back pressure and we could push them much farther then what they are able to push today. I think there is a lot different sound as well...the price for progress...if you wish to call it progress.

  • @deadelectromix Do you really think that WE were on Bb flat horns this year or are you messin with me? Because I swear that the soprano horn that I played on in 1999 was a Kanstul Powerbore G bugle. I think you're messin with me. Or you could just be an idiot...........

  • @miles211 Or I could have just been mistaken. Thanks for the insult, however.

  • I love that Director :)

  • omg im in love with the way he conducts

  • Holy shiznitch...OK, I stand corrected. Maybe G's are louder than Bb's lol.

  • @medeabrass1 I hereby promote you to the rank of "Captain Obvious". =)

  • This is awesome just wish there was a better recording of it on youtube.

  • Jesus....fucking....Christ.....

I had tears when Duel of the Fates rang in

  • My god, someone had chops that year. Those hangovers are solid. @RandomPoorGuy I found this on limewire too back in the day and loved the raw power. One of my favorite corp warmups.

  • my chops would hurt so bad after this warm up :b

  • Man...the power of G. Gawd I miss this sound!

  • Matt Harloff and Gino should go bowling together sometime or have drinks

  • @jeffe77 Love it!

  • @jeffe77 I had the pleasure of being conducted by Harloff at PR in '01. Those two would be frightening together.

  • OK....so almost 50,000 views. What's it gonna take to get you to put that VHS tape into a digital transfer device. I'll f'ng pay you to do it. You are doing a disservice to drum corps by bogarting the original.

  • I found this on limewire lol

  • amazing........ love the song and this is my new favorite of theirs. this and the space cords video

  • They should play this again!!!

  • 0:58... that made me giggle.

  • As a Blue Devils Alumni, I would appreciate is someone can put this in HQ version. Thanks people! Blue Smoke.

  • @DJAndreRouzo I have 3 maybe 4 versions of us playing this, just audio though. I might have one video but not this one

  • @DJAndreRouzo I have 3 maybe 4 versions of us playing this, just audio though. I might have one video but not this one

  • i pisd myslef at 0:51

  • Just lost my breath for a second... Wow... I would love a HQ version.

  • Orgasmic!!!!!!

  • No... Corpsgasmic.

  • 0:51 makes me wet........

  • OH MY GOD 0:50

  • This has got to be the most intense warmup chorale I have ever heard. Mp3?

  • I believe it was a tie? I think...

  • Yes, they tied with SCV.

  • Did they win in 1999?

  • yes

  • fukin dork

  • OMFG 1:01 SCREEEEEEEEEAMING.

  • Can we please go back to G bugles? Listen to how much darker the upper brass is.

  • I use to listen to this before every BOA performance. lol

  • Who is that director?! Seriously, wow. That guy inspires me.

  • Gino Cipriani. BD Soprano Soloist in the mid 80's. 1999 was his last year as an instructor for BD. He is now with the Cadets. Yeah....He's one crazy fucker, isn't he? When ever he would get into it like that, you couldn't help but play loud.

  • Do you have a master copy of this? This truly is a gem of drum corps videos. I would love to see this in better quality, since it does look like its a video recording of a TV. Blue SMOKE

  • @miles211 ...reminds me of my old band director.

  • hooo my.

  • goose bumps everytime.wow.

  • Holy shit. I felt a tingle go up my spine. And that guy conducting the warm up has just as much passion as the people playing.

  • Wow, talk about intense. As for the blowing the releases, if you studdy Jazz, it's stylistically correct. BD is jazz for the most part so stylistically, they're correct. Plus they do it all the time. I personally love to hear top sop blow over. I like to call it playing Ballzando

  • Since when is Duel of the Fates jazz?

  • Since Devs did it. They are stylistically jazz oriented. A tune does not have to swing like a monkey (Count Basie style) to be considered jazz.

  • So then that arrangement and what you heard there was jazz?? Just because they're the Blue Devils and a lead sop hung a release?? Haha, that's beyond delusional.

  • Just like you hanging on every word I'm saying just so you can prove your point. Dude, It's music, It's' meant to be interpreted by both the composer and the performer. It took me 2 summers of corp and a major in music performance to realize that. When we played Summertime in Bluecoats 98, we played it our style and even threw in some African Naningo drum patterns in the Pit. We played Autumn Leaves with a latin feel, so yes, I do believe this is stylistically correct for the Devs.

  • Don't pretend you're not trying to prove a point either here. You're free not to respond, as am I. I actually like the discussion. I agree that adding that release is BDs take on it, and it's neat for the people who come to see them warm-up, but that doesn't make this a jazz chart. It's virtually a note for note transcription of what's in the soundtrack, and nobody would ever confuse that for a jazz soundtrack. And who cares? I still love it. It's still BD. They still rock. But jazz it ain't. :)

  • Ha ha - nice description!!! :)

  • i wish they would bring this warmup back. even though its now outdated, cmon now

BD + Star Wars = holy shit.

  • this was my band director's age out year. on baritone.

    go john lack

  • I know him! He's my old director.

  • lol i knew him too. he marched a couple people down from me. very cool cat.

  • =O holy shit...I hope your not lieing

  • Man, I wish I could be conducting them. Would anyone happen to have an arrangements of this or the music. Or the .Mus file? anything.

  • Okay, if you havent noticed, BD sops always blow their releases. Almost every encore standstill I've seen them play they've blown release and many other occasions. Its just their trademark.

  • WOW that was good! Sop kept blowing releases though...

  • that was the point!

  • that kind of thing doesnt happen on accident in the blue devils.

  • Maybe I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure the chords don't go past beat 4 in the music. And blowing releases is (to me) a sign of immaturity.

  • yes, I agree it is a little immature. I guess that's just the Blue Devils for ya. I was just pointing out that it was on purpose.

  • Oh yeah dude I understand what you're sayin'...it still doesn't take away from the sheer AWESOMEness of the horn line! :D

  • if you were a Blue Devil you would understand. we do it to make sure you heard us and because we can.

  • lol umm i hope ur joking but yea its a drum and bugle corp. U could think of it as like a professional level marching band with brass cause brass rules. lol

  • anyone know that tuba part at the end? or does anyone have the music for this?

  • This is one of the most badass warmups ever created. Just saying....

  • BD Sop line owned every corps that year...

  • that sent chills through my entire body. Ill be joining the blue devils in a few years >:D

  • I love the Blue Devils so much.

  • whats the name of the song where they get really loud?

  • It's in my favorites. It's quite amazing.

  • @kidnflorida It's called Menace.

  • umm its duel of the fates actually

  • This puts a huge grin on my face.

  • MY FACE WHERE DID IT GO?!?!?!

    I'm completely blown away!!!

  • very bad video but great sound very good

  • I LOVE IT:D:D:D:D:D

  • love this shit

  • lol that was crazy as shit! we are playing this in my hight school marching band, and we are a show stly band so i was like this is going to be wack playing a blue devils song, but i was super wrong!! WOOOOOOOT <3 blue devils

  • Hah, listen to the cameraman's breathing at 1:17.

  • Please Please Please get this transferred over to digital media and upload it. This is a treasure for any BD fan.

  • this guys notkidding please O please digitize it.

  • let me tell you i am in this hornline (the baritone who hangs over on the double B and the double C) I have never seen or heard anyone else ever come close to the awsomeness that was the 1999 blue devil hornline.

PS nothing beats the raw power of the G bugle.

  • '99 BD is my favorite drumline as well....awesome feature!

  • umm hello likewoo, '99 SCV came DAMN close to this brassline...it could be argued either way BD had the higher register mastered SCV had the lower register mastered. Cmon as a baritone player I would think you would give SCV the props they deserved that year.

  • Dizam..... I <3 the octaves on Their trumpets.lol

  • i think theyre the only band that can do that as a warmup without blowing their chops

  • Band? Oh, you mean CORPS. And many other corps could play this...but no one and I mean NO ONE can play it like BD. Thse kids always impress.

  • wow you really have no idea what the fuck you're talking about... you must not have ever heard real players

  • i disagree..

i mean I believe that BD's hornline is amazing..

but ppl also don't realize that alot of other corps are just as good.

    BD are my fav.

but I also love Phantom's horn line..

    overall its BD though!

  • I agree but Crown and Phantom are my faves.

  • Did you just say the B WORD???????? Its CORPS not a band.

  • omgomfsoifhsokfjlk he called it a band omfonkldsnldskfgnlkjnm. what if i called it a marching band?

  • thats gino conducting? I thought that person looked familiar.

  • uhhh shit.

  • simply awesome

  • i think i just shat my pants.

  • i love gino's casual cut off at the end of the loud ass part

  • well we need to switch back to g bugles just so we can play this song one more time!

  • i know...dammnit!!!lol

  • this was sooooo sick! i want to play it for my ageout!

  • Sorry Gio.....This piece was meant for G bugles and G bugles only. Trust me.... It just wouldn't sound right.

  • That was the first Drum Corps piece I ever transcribed. Still love it!

  • Bad ass!

  • I wish that I was in that hornline

  • I was.. and I LOVED playing that piece

  • lol i get to play it in my hight school, may not sound as good as yall but idc its a gooooooooooooooooooDX100000 peace! <3

  • GO BRAD!!!
