So basically you're saying that other peoples were living in caves and so were very happy to be invaded, later colonized, neo-colonized and as a result impoverished by white men so that white men could have cozy houses and the rest of the world the leftovers of their development...
Plus technological evolution has often been forced directly or not to some peoples that didn't ask for it... even today.
And white men way of living wouldn't even be possible for all the world to have...

It amazes me that you have this genius idea they never thought of..if only they had just not being doing it since... FOREVER. Believe me that I am sure they know how to fish, even before the French brought them as slaves, but you can't expect fishing to feed a whole population or at least 9 million to be sustained on that. Garífuna (caribbean black) tribes in my country dedicate themselves to fish and farm, but a tribe and a country of several million is quite a difference.

If anyone wants to really help the people who need right now urgently medical care and for the long run, you should check out where and that it is not connected to the US government (USAID, IRI, NED and such). Donate to Partners in Health for instance, they have worked in Haiti for a long while now and have shown seriousness and compromise to the cause for years.
I dream these people, who I refuse to call "poor", could pull themselves out of this one with unmediated world solidarity. Bush free.

This guy isn't helping his people ANY with this interview. 1st aid isn't getting to enough people, then the aid that gets to people isn't handed out properly? Government relief organization is ALWAYS a mess. But the good people on the ground are doing the best they can!What, would he rather only a handfull of people get their food served on a silver platter? Futhermore, a truly starving person does not worry about pride and sovereignty, they worry about freaking survival.

Are you that sort of person who thinks all black people are "evil"? You seem to be knitpicking at anything he says, for it to fit your fundamentalist view of the world. I don't see how the first statement counters the second. It can be meant as a conditional sentence: If they get to see aid, they refuse to accept it in this way.
I do think the amount of troops there is offensive towards Haitians. You might think it's right if others are treated like dogs to get aid, but many don't. Get over it.

Like said, I understood the whole thing as a conditional sentence: If we get to see that aid, we won't accept it under such humiliating circumstances. He just ommited to make it clear not being aware it wouldn't fit your logic.
Aid is being given out, he is not denying it and there are several parts where he knows about it, but he hasn't seen it himself. I find it creepy when people get so.. literal and dissecting every word..

My mistake. I apologize for that, but you see the amount of bigots in youtube writing all sorts of disgusting things about Haitians.
I feel very sad because we all give aid to see them stand up, but this is hardly going to happen if things go on like this. This aid can help them rebuild their country with their own hands, rebuild their businesses, now big hotel chains and big corporations will run to Haiti to build their own, with the aid of many injected to provide "jobs" exploiting them.

They have my sympathy. Don't try to judge my world view based on half of a paragraph. I understand what you say and I agree to some extent.
But now that this has happened, the most important thing for Haitians is to be self-sufficient, rebuild their country, and not depend on the outside, which just uses the pretext "aid" to keep them enslaved. Clinton is already "begging" the big corporations to come over to help(literally). I'm not kidding.
Millions of US Americans and people worldwide gave their help with the best intentions, but it is now in the hands of the master.

Hello??? This is not a revolution, this is a natural disaster! The bureacracy screwed up the logistics, but volunteers there are doing the best they can. They aren't there to treat them like dogs! They are there to help! Furthermore I seen on CNN last night people lined up waiting in line that LOOKED LIKE THEY WERE WAITING TO RECEIVE COMMUNION AT CHURCH! At the rate they were going, the people at the end of the line WILL FREAKING STARVE before they get their food HANDED TO THEM! Give me a break!

This is just a bit ridiculous that this guy is talking about being too proud to "get aid like this." I've eaten a lot of food salvaged from dumpsters, pride is one of the seven deadly sins for a reason.

The reason they didn't bother to fake it and stash some fake WMDs in Irak was because they wanted people to hate bush so much they would worship whoever came next, black or woman. Whatever happens, we can be sure they've secured themselves against the unavoidable revolt. But where on earth, and how limited will their land be.

We have a saying where I come from, beggers can't be choosers. Supplying aid can be a dangerous game and maybe some don't want to get in the middle of it. I would only give out aid in an organized manner if I had a armed escort. Otherwise I would get in and get out quickly.
