  • Jarred Rome seriously needs to sprint arcossed the ring and actucally use his legs more instead of his upper body. If he did that he would be so good.

  • @TheArchorGod 2.0kilos (4.4 lbs)

  • man most of these guys are all about speen and not explosion off of the power position

  • WHAT SONG IS THIS?????

  • this is my first year of throwing discus and im a jr. in high school

i started about 3 weeks ago and i threw about 130 today im 6ft tall and 155 lbs

is this good for my weight and height?

  • @NoobsSuckx7 ,

HELL YES IT IS! If anybody else tells you otherwise then they're a fool

  • @NoobsSuckx7 For your weight, its decent. But for your age, its bad. I'm a freshman in high school. I've been throwing for a little over 3 weeks, so far my farthest throw is 123 feet 7 inches. Not trying to diss you, but how is your form looking?

  • @firemakinjoe my over all form is good but for some reason when i release discus it comes out wobbly. I have a good grip, but i dont understand whats making it come out wrong. any tips?

  • @NoobsSuckx7 lots and lots and lots of disc flips and just working on spinning that disc and rolling it on the ground like a bowling ball is a good drill also, work on it everyday and your rotation of the disc will keep getting better the more you do it

  • @NoobsSuckx7 Make sure that your wrist is straight. And don't have too strong of a grip, a trick that my coach had me do was to roll the discus like a bowling ball, it helps with the release and the spin. Try to find a video on youtube, I've seen them before. Make sure the disc is only on the fingertips. From what you said before, to let you know where you stand in your distance, the winning throw from a JV meet was about 158 feet.

  • @firemakinjoe for a freshman that is really good. you'll be a good disc thrower some day. man the frshman at my school throw about 60 haha

  • @NoobsSuckx7

thats really good in my state that might place you in state or get you close

  • by the way, what song is this?

  • broken wing-thousand foot krutch

  • I am looking at christians school called Indiana wesleyan, anderson university, and St. Francis. And depending on how this season goes, i might have a shot throwing in the big ten and Indiana university.

  • @geoffgetts200 Good luck this season bro, I hope it works out for you. I'm from Indiana and throw unattached now, but IWU is a really good school, I know Bowman was a beast....but good luck man.

  • @supershow87 You should throw unattached at iwu on the 12 of feb. because im going to that meet!! I will also be training with bowman sometime that weekend! did you throw in college?

  • I have a question that no one may answer, but what the heck. What exercise or exercises do you find most useful for increasing FLEXIBILITY (whip) in the final delivery?

  • Someone correct me if I am wrong, but I have herd that doing standing throws with a 1k works.

  • sure it does, but umm, why would you? In college, I use a 8 pound ball and make sure I follow through.

  • I learned this a John Powell's Throwing camp. It gets your body used to the fast, whip. Using something heavier is also good, but for different things. At least thats what I learned at camp.

  • i think with the lighter weight, you can focus more on form and your technique. using 6 or 8 pounder with help with strenght.

  • what college do you throw at? I am a high school senior and am looking forward to throwing in college!!

  • I'm currenlty throwing at North Georgia. It's a small senior military college in the mountains. I'm a senior and have only been throwing for two years in college, so I still have two years of eligibility left, so I'm trying to get into grad school and still throw, I'm looking at Northern Arizona or VT. Track is fairly new to the peachbelt. In high school my best was 167, but in practice I had some around 180, but never in a meet.

  • Oh, I'm also going to be doing the shot and the javelin this season. My father threw the discus at UCLA when Barnes was around, so he got me into it. Where you looking at applying to college at?

  • I might have thrown against your Dad!

  • Thats awesome!! I am a high school senior and last year I threw exactly a 167 too!! thats funny! I am probably going to throw at a christian school in indiana next year, but i can not wait to throw in college!! im so pumped!

  • lol, I stand with an olympic bar on my shoulders, behind my neck, and twist left to right, right to left several time. Add some weight, but not too much because you can hurt urself.

  • Thanks. As an older thrower (late 50s) who is still throwing reasonably well for an old guy (41 meters) I am finding that my stiffness is hurting me the most. It does seem to me that the elites have much more flexibility and whip -- I have all the power and speed I need.

  • wow that's not bad. Are you still using a 2k discus. I thought maybe for that age group the weight decreases, but still 41 isn't bad at all. I'm recovering from an injury and that's what I'm currently throwing around, but yeah, the twist motion is great, but I don't put more than 25 pounds weights on and I rotate slowly! Best of luck to you.

  • I'm 5th US and 24th World in my age group (55-59). But it's only a 1.5k discus (slightly smaller but goes just about as far as a HS disc). Congrats on your 167+ after only two years of collegiate competition; that's great.

  • oh no, I threw 167 in high school. My best in college is 151 ft. And you may have gone against my father. He was also on the rowing team. That's pretty awesome that your ranked nationally. I admire your passion for the sport. I hope I still have it in me when I reach that age! Too awesome!

  • Still very good. I threw 154 in college and was one of the best in my D1 conference -- a long time ago!

  • Who is the guy in slomo around 1:00?

  • Ian Waltz...

    2008 Olympic Trials champion; Three-time USA champion (05, 06, '08); 2007 USA runner-up; 2006 World Cup bronze medalist; 2004 U.S. Olympic Trials runner-up; Eight-time collegiate All-American; Two-time PAC-10 discus champion; 1997 Pac-10 shot put champion

  • Thanks. I thought that might be him.

  • @jcollins800 i remember him

  • @jcollins800 how big is ian waltz 260+? and highth

    plz

  • @stuart7337 ian waltz is like 300 lbs at 6'4 or so.

  • @darnoc698 Ian is not 300 or 6'4" he went to the same high school i just graduated from and he coached me at some clinics (really cool guy) and is about 260 and 6'2" maybe 6'3"

  • @afunk93 I wouldn't even give him 6'2", honestly.

  • @EndlersaurusRex Yeah it is definitely not 6'4" though He is a good sized guy standing next to him but not that big

  • @afunk93 I've stood next to him and seen him next to my brother who is trying to throw discus at an elite level (my brother is 6'4"). He's marginally (an inch, tops) taller than me (I'm 6 feet), and tiny next to my brother. Not tall, but very strong, so he looks larger.

    He's like 6'1" 260

  • @EndlersaurusRex I agree with you seen him before. Do you by chance know who is the guy from 0:09 -0:18 sec is? I have been trying to find out what his name is and see more videos of him?

  • @POLYBEARSNM33 I'm not sure. His technique looks very similar to Knut Hjeltnes of Norway, but it's hard to tell.

  • is it only me or do the most of the americans in this vid lose the power from the hip?

  • where can i get a discus training wieght?

  • Ask a highschool track coach

  • whos the guy at 1:50?? he has insane form. greatest discus vid ever

  • Can anyone name this song for me please? great video btw.

  • Thanks. The song is "Broken Wing" by Thousand Foot Krutch.

  • sweet video

  • man i wish i would have looked at this about 3 months ago.lol great vid

  • this video is badass

  • This is a beautiful discus video :) Arguably the best single-meet discus compilation on YouTube
