the same config on my laptop, but with a smaller 2.13ghz CORE2DUO runs fsx on highest settings smoothly(tested with all default aircraft, wilco 777 and some freeware planes. Your computer SHOULD run nice with fraps too.

fsx is a very hard game to run...

my specs:

Intel i7 @ 2,7

Geforce GTX 275

6 GB RAM

and you cant play on the highest settings completley "LAG FREE"

especially if u have a lot of  addons like sceneries or traffic etc.

64bit is used for 4GB+ ram. so its recommended to use 64bit on 4gigs of ram. and 32 will really run well, but 64bit allows better usage of the RAM.

not really, movies speed is 24FPS, and you dont see the difference, 24 fps is smooth enough so you dont catch te difference, now 50 FPS or 90 is kinda accelerated

why do you guys like 50 or 90 FPS if the human eye only gets 24 (23.9 to be precise), a movie runs 24 FPS, the human eye only gets 24, HDMI TVs get 28, and HD TVs get 26, why you bother to buy an expensive videocard if your eyes arent going to see the difference?

human eye / brain combination can see well over 100 frames per second and thus far the limits have not thoroughly been tested yet. Suffice it to say, IT IS NOTHING LIKE THE 24, 30, 60 or even 100 fps crap, that gets spouted on the Internet.

the eye can't tell the difference btween anything running over 26 fps but its the dips in the fps tht u will definately notice this is why a minimum fps of 24 is good

Donkeybonr, let me point out that most the new stuff coming out won't even matter in fsx. It barely supports DX10 let alone DX11. the game isn't well optimized to take advantage of newer technology. I get 50 fps maxed out in Far Cry 2, and simila in HAWX. I tried running helicopter around Aerosoft Manhattan today with REX UTX GEX FSX all maxed with rain and clouds. I got like 4 fps with my i7 and 4890. Even Crysis is better.The 5870 you speak of is fast, but DX11 doesn't matter

Yeah FSX is awesome if u have the hardware to run it. I have an Intel I7 running at 4.2Ghz, 12Gb DDR3 @ 1866Mhz, A single Superpiped Oc 285GTX running at 800/1700/1600. & fsx always runs smooth, even when using add ons such as Real Environment Xtreme, FTX, UTX & other scenery & payware aircrafts that demand the most out of curent next gen computers. Too bad i'm not a pro in making videos... :s

I originally didn't build it myself. It was an HP. Only the processor is original, i even replaced the motherboard. All in all i spent a dumb 2000+€ You can get it for a lower price. My original case was an intel I7 @ 2.7Ghz, 6GB DDR3 ram & an nvidia GT 120. Which sucked. I payed 1400€ for the case & another 350€ for my new monitor. & changing most parts is costly. Now i have another expensive cost. Hoping it's only my motherboard that's ruined. No FSX for a couple of weeks for me :(
