I like the sideflip at 0:42, it looks great and it feels great. Trust me :) Normaly, a true sideflip must be with the body straight and not doubled over or what types of body positions exists.
very nice sideflips man.. im still workin on mine. I gottawork with the elements and grass xD cold, but hey I keep trying and for the most part i get a double leg instead of a sideflip. Sometimes though, if i throw my trailing arm straight up and back like if your doing a jumping jack, it stops me from getting the added 90 degree rotation. I just gotta keep workin at it =]
Actually, a doubled over side flip and a double leg are two different things. In a doubled over side flip, you are still tucking to get rotation, but in a double leg, you are using torque from your upper body to whip your legs around.
look at my vids most of them have sides in them i'm jenin n i had that problem when i started. if your body rotates over your back it's like a double leg n u rotate more in the tuck over ur back so it lands at the half. If u do it over ur head it lands side butt if u go over ur head n look over ur shoulder body beings to rotate different.
look at my vids n if u have any Q/A i'lll up date ya on info.
nonono.. aerials are alot like a sideflip but have some differences... aerial has no tucking of the legs and your hands dont touch your legs at all. landindg and startoff are very similar though
Levi's sideflip is much better. Punching is asking for a fail on flat ground outside. I'm sure there's more info in the writeup, but just saying "punch, tuck, spot, land" isn't going to help a beginner. Props on the object-roll drill though. It's a great way to learn.
I disagree with the notion that the punch sideflip doesn't translate to outside, I throw it all the time, as do lots of practitioners. I agree that the minimalist tutorial isn't enough which is why the write-up exists... Thanks for the critique and mature attitude, very much unlike most of these keyboard freerunners...
I just feel like the staggered one will allow for more control. It's definitely easier on the shins and ankles as well. I think that one of the most overlooked things about the sideflip is the upper body movement involved. Watch Levi's: Look at how much he uses his arms to generate height and rotation. IMO, in tricking, pk, fr, whatever, it's best to save your legs and ankles as much as possible. Thus, my dislike of punching.
Your tutorials Barely help, IT only messses up my eyes with the transitions :l

A sideflip is NOT when your body is doubled over, that's a double leg...

...No, a double leg over is when you use the double leg technique and you have your legs straight.

looks like the punch technique could use some better form by the knee's.

Form and technique wise that was pretty poor, sick height but hmmm that'll more than likely be the plyo.

Where do you look when performing this trick? Do you look straight? sideways?

kenta000007 3 years ago

ThaNorwegianDude 3 years ago
punch is to use all your forward momentum from running and slam both feet down at the same time to transfer that momentum into height

its a way of genarating hight and rotation (Y)
an areal your chest is directed towards floor on take off and on landing
so lok as an areal as a cartwheel without useing your hands (Y)
