The Kessel trade may be decent value, but it really wasn't the right trade for this team at this time.

We're not a playoff contender no matter how much Burke gets in front of the camera so arrogantly and states we are.

There's just...no forward talent at all. Combine that with a talented defense that's not gelling at the moment and Toskala's complete ass goaltending and you have a recipe for a shit sandwich lottery team.

leafs bump their lines with a couple of goons players that are willing to drop their gloves while racking up penalties now, having a stronger presence is good but the leafs penalty kill is horrible! Protecting the net is hard to do from the box. I see it as being counteractive and cant see the benefit in having these types of players for this team. Komisarek was brought over for a reason and I think Exelby is overkill at least Kubina pocketed a 40 point season. Its just not looking good

They also had Ryan Getzlaf, Corey Perry, Teemu Selanne, Dustin Penner and the best shut down line I've seen with Pahlsson, Moen and someone else. Who on the Leafs compares even closely to the way these Ducks were built? They had a boat load of skill to off set the grit. The Leafs are sending down skill (Bozak comes to mind) and replace that skill with the useless fighters Jay Rosehill and Colton Orr. Those two will finish the season with a combined 3 goals.

They pointed this out on CBC many times during the game, but the reason their PK is so terrible right now is because the players are basically acting like cut-outs - just standing there. The 5-on-5 defensive coverage isn't doing much better though. Toskala's been fine considering what he's working with through the first 4 games. And every time the Leafs got some offense going, someone had to take a dumb penalty right after, or make a poor defensive play.
