  • Great stuff - I had tried 3 other sets of instructions and none of them worked. The key was showing us how to see the file extension. One piece you are missing is that after you rename the file - you then need to drag it from the desktop over the word "Library" in itunes - that is it. Works flawlessly - thanks again!

  • ok thanks mate, heres an IOU of $400 for your brand new IPhone...

  • can i have ur css??

  • umm.....i can't get it in itunes in the ringtones place. so...how do i do it?

  • make sure the file is no longer than 40 seconds, because the ringtones can't be any longer somehow.

when you have the m4r file, just use iTunes to import, and it will automatically be in the Ringtones folder.

    hope that helped:D

  • Ur hella boss

  • favorite part of video, "ho geeze"

You realize you could just right click the song first, find the start / end time of where in the song you would like to make a 20 to 30 second ringtone of. Right click again, create AAC, then drag to desktop, rename to .m4r. Double click and its finished.

  • Woww

that guy is just pure badass

    just listen to his voice...

  • that is great but I have a mac

  • I bet this guy gets tons of pussy. He sounds hella sweet.

Note for others: I've got a brand new G3 AND use Vista.

  • can you explain this whit iTunes 8 please

  • doesn't work with iphone 3g s/w ver 2.1

Shows up as a ringtone in itunes 8 but doesn't appear in ringtones settings on the iphone

  • you have to change the extension to .m4r ... it won't show w/o that. I just did mine tonight, and it works perfectly ... I am using a Macbook Pro.

  • Thanks for this video tip! The process worked for me, and I'm excited to have unlimited access to FREE ringtones!!! Cheers!!!

  • If you check out my updated video i have itunes 8 and windows xp so that should work for you

  • cheers for advice! got it working now :) thank mate

  • This does work but with Windows Vista, it is a little different. Also the installation to the iphone G3 isn't right. I have the step by step instructions to it for anyone that is having troubles..

  • What are the instructions for vista?

  • cheers man????????

  • Is there any way to change the new email/voicemail sound?

  • yeah there is a way and i will be making a video soon showing you how... probably tomorrow and you have to have a hacked iphone... do you??

  • great video

TESTED & WORKS on newest itunes

  • thanks dude

  • With this I converted a song over 3 mins. It works.

    I was using itunes 7.6.2.9

  • iTunes 8.1 doesn't give you the option to "convert selection to AAC" when you right click a song. anyway around that?

  • my song name doesnt sayy m4r or w.e i cant rename it to that

MPEG-4 Audio File thats my song fileee

    helpppp

  • THIS WORKS, BUT IS MISSING SOME IMPORTANT INFO:

    1. The song must be under 30 seconds (right click on song, options tab, change end time to 00:00:30). Do this before converting to AAC.

    2. You must drag and drop the clip into the ringtones section in itunes, or Add File to Library.

    3. Once the file is in the ringtones list, change the name BACK to .m4a or else it will not show up once you are in your phone.

Hope this helps people who were having trouble. THANKS MATT!

  • In step 3, when you say to change the name back to .m4a, which file are u talking about? i can get about 2 ringtones on, but after that, one of the ringtones just keeps showing up in place of new ones I try to put on my iphone.

  • nvm, got it to work. :D

  • Excellent, CUS1980! Thanks for the extra tip. I couldn't get it to work before I changed the song end time to 30 seconds. Then I converted it & dragged it into the ringtones section. Thanks very much for this tip. It worked for me!

  • WORKS WHEN UNDER "40" SECONDS

Hope "GREEDY" Jobs doesn't take this away on the next version of iTunes

  • HELLO PPL. This works PERFECTLY. u asses must have forgotten to unselect the hide thingie, dont blame it on the person who made this vid!!

  • Worked perfectly. Thank you!!

  • Open itunes and find your song, RC (Right Click)"Get Info",Options,change Stop time to 0:30,OK,RC song in itunes,create AAC version,find :30 version in iTunes,RC, show in windows explorer,minimize explorer,RC :30 clip in itunes again,Delete,Keep File,Maximize Explorer,RC,Rename,Cursor @ end of title,Un-highlight,backspace over a,type r, enter,Yes,RC song,Copy,Paste on Desktop,Open Itunes,File,Add Folder to Library,Look In: Desktop,Find song, Open

    (Synch iPhone) Settings,Sounds,Ringtone

  • This is a very good description, I got it working after I read this.

  • Awesome, works great, SO LONG AS its 30 secs or less

  • it doesnt work for mee )=

like i have the latest itunes but it only has convert to mp3..

i downloaded 8 again to make sure and its the same...

so i just followed thru and it doesnt work..

    help??

  • you need to change the import settings to AAC encoded in the preferences section.. then it'll say Convert to AAC in your RC menu

  • This will NOT work. The reason being the song your trying to make a ringtone is still well over 30 seconds. Any iphone automatically does NOT recognize ring tones over 30 seconds.

If you go to "get info" on the song, then "options" you'll see you can set the length of the song. Set it to 30 seconds or less (doesnt matter what section of the song). THEN convert it to an AAC file and continue with the instructions and it WILL work. Goodluck

  • people dont waste your time that shit dont work.
