Very nice! Your water is so crystal clear! How often do you change out your water? I just bought a 16 gallon bow front aquarium and am currently cycling it. I just hope I will be able to have my water this clear!
Well, I hardly ever change the water, every few months or so Ill vacume the rocks/change water. Most of the time its just to top it off, i have alot of evaporation in this tank for some reason, dont know why. I find it easier to keep the water clear by keeping the walls of the tanks clean and cleaning or changing the filters when they need it. I have alot of this thick dark algea growing and it keeps my nitrate levels in check, so a water change isnt needed that often.
Really? I keep hearing people saying you got to do 25% partial water changes each week to keep the aquarium water clear like yours! You must have a really good filter system then if you only change your water every few months.
If you keep the filters clean your water should always be clean and clear. The only reason to do water change is to remove the high levels of nitrate. But since I have a good layer of algae my nitrate levels can go longer without it needing to be changed as often. Keeping the glass clean promotes the algae growth on the decorations and not the sides of the tank. I finally got a good hair like algea growth in my 20gal, I'm quite please with it.
I dont have enough. The more places for the fish to hide the better they are in aggressiveness. There is pleanty of swimming room in the upper half of the tank. This is also an old video. I have two 46 gal tanks and one 20 gal tank up and running now. I just sold off all my fry and mother. Some of the fish in this video are now dead, I had them in my brothers tank and a socolifi male ended up killing them all. The blue zebra cobalt was my favorite. I still have the johanni.
Thanks for responding! I have one more question for you if you don't mind which is how is there temperament/ aggressiveness towards each other in that tank and other than the lobster killing a few have you experienced any fish loss amongst the fish themselves due to there aggressive nature? where did you get that rock or cave in the far back? o.k., so that was more than one question sorry =P
I would go all male or all female. If you like taking care of your fish get more than normal, crowd them they tend to be less aggressive. Your aquascaping does make a difference in aggresiveness, try out different things see what works. The rock i got free, its a penn-plax brand, i was going to buy multiple kits and cover the back with them, but that never happend. Stay away from Kenyis. I love Johannis and yellow labs their colors go well together. Take the aggressive ones back to the store!
I have had a couple problems with the 100's, after power failures they tend to run dry when the power comes back on, will not "self start" all the time. I have even had one stop working, i left it unplugged for a day and plugged it back in and it started again, so idk what was wrong.
Very Nice set up, you've inspired me to jump up from a 28 to a 46. ty! Also to get some Cichlids! Have you had any problems with your filters at all?
The Kenyi's, I suspect them to be distant relatives of rabbits and piranhas. Eat, Sleep, Kill, Make Babys. I have gotten rid of all Kenyi, well all but one, a last female and some fry.
There are only 2 fish in this tank now, a male Venustus and a pleco, both are around 7-9 inches long.
