The greatest interventionist to ever live..period! The coolest and most reasonable guy. The other interventionists are like his students compared to him.
if it works don't fix it. it's not entertainment as much as the real deal. it doesn't need to be entertaining. if that's what you are looking for, change the channel. Jeff's book has helped change my life and many others. God uses broken lives to mend other broken lives. The process is NOT pretty and not all that cool. But the results truely are.
Uncle? Someone who cheats on his wife.Does drugs and then starts a TV show and sells books making mega bucks off the very things he is not devoted too? Give me a break. We all have our faults but to profit off them? To profit off a Jerry Springer type show where people gloat over other peoples suffering. To me this is someone who has serious commitment issues, denial and a huge ego along with .....
I know what Jeff is gonna say, almost word for word, before he says it, at every intervention. I love Jeff, I love all the regular interventionists, but Jeff could change it up a bit. I think it would be funny if one of the inventerventionistees (is that a word?) started quoting him back to him when he started talking to them, lol
I see some people here who love you like crazy and they wanna fight to getcha back. That's all. SO will you listen to 'em? Why do the producers allow this to continue. It's impersonal, its robotic and callous. The best interventionist is Rod,
this guy is a douche anyone smart enough that hes doin an intervention on will pick up on the fact that what he is saying is bland and scripted that will just piss them off more
there is no talent in what he does i could fucking do that some people love you like crazy and we just want to invite you to join the fight now pay me a&e
Jeff Van Vonderen is the greatest. He uses the same lines over again because he's distilled the message to exactly what he knows the addict will hear - each line has the least amount of b#ll$hit, max amount of truth, and nothing they can argue with. Brilliant work. Many thanks to JVV - he's taught the public a lot, and we appreciate it. :)
i hate it when others rag on this guy for "using the same lines over and over". give him a fucking break, the guy is helping addicts recover and you guys are pissed off at him for something so stupid (im not talking about anyone specifically in the comments or the author of this)
@freddyfingerr Jeff Van Vonderen relapsed on alcohol last year, google it. The 12-step programs are a CULT, with a less than 5 % recovery rate. Read the Orange Papers.
@HelmutVonSphincter Actually the 12-step program is *like* a cult. While it's true that the 12-steps may have a loose alignment with what cults use, the difference is that groups like AA are there to try and help people, not try to get them to drink the kool-aide. Being at the group is your choice, you can leave whenever you want and no one gives a shit. I know this from first hand experience. And so what he relapsed? Relapse is part of recovery.
Candy and Ken are great as well and they do say the same things from time to time. Just because they repeat themselves, doesn't make the statements less powerful or meaningful. They say them for a good reason. Let the pro's do the job. Change the channel if you don't like what you hear, but they've helped countless numbers of people. Sometimes more the family members than the addicts. It's a great show and much more than entertainment
jeff is like the Ninja warrior that sits back cool in the cut and dispatches his minions to break down his enemies, all the while ready to unleash a secret weapon if needed.
In America we call that alcoholism manifested as self-medication from PTSD. But apparently Canada and A&E have never heard of PTSD, otherwise his loved ones would have helped him before his alcoholic self-medication cost him his livelihood, wife, son and physical health.
@wolfatnight - Thank you for showing me the error of my ways. How silly of me. Clearly I've upset you if you've resorted to using the f word towards a complete stranger. Maybe Jeff teaches anger management classes on the side...you should look into that. And as for the dying of cancer, I lost my mother from lymphoma three months ago. Although I didn't get the cancer of which you spoke, I hope my mom was able to satisfy your request. You're completely ridiculous.
@Jsto75 glad i can help... perhaps trolling ignornace can be overcome, and you can one day grow up and be a productive member of society... i'm here to HELP, goddamnit..... :-)
i like when he says, "theres nothing will do to let things keep going the way they are but theres nothing we wont do to help stop it" or something like that
My family's just a bunch-a people who luv this show like crazy! We sit together on the couch, drinking wine, beer, Jack Daniels or Martini's and laugh at the craziness. I love the heroine addict girl who brought a fifth of Bourbon to her intervention. Also the crazy nekkid, bleach blonde. Also the woman who drank mouthwash was a scream!
I wonder how old Candy is? She has the classic, "Rode hard and put up wet" look.

He's an idiot interventionist, whom incidentally has relapsed. Also, if you see him- ask him why his 12-step faith healing does not work on his smoking habit.
He keeps things calm, shows right away it's not an attack or forced intervention, relaxes everyone and does what works. He starts with the same script and comes across sincere and caring but if it doesn't work, he can get tough or caring as needed (see Allison's case). Notice they give him what seem to be the most impossible cases? He's great.
Its so sad that the first guy they show ended up dying.
