  • what's the name of the song? i think its great

  • noooo! he's an AMAZING ARTIST! but he wasted paper, paint, time.... and oxygen! :o

  • I live near there

  • NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO i dont know y he lit it on fire and idk who the painting was of but i wanted it it was so good. all of his stuff is AMAZING and i wish i could do it.

  • @Bananas0695 Mark McGuire

  • What's the song name or artists?

  • WHY DID YOU LIGHT IT ON FIRE?!

  • omg i cant belive u did wat u did in the end lol should have put that up for sale on ur website people would have brought that 4 sure lol still ur very inspiring

  • Ouch, that's gotta burn.

  • thats dope!

  • dude as an artist i shun ur work. its nice til u destroy it. then i totally hate u. not u as a person but u as an artist. portfolio pieces down the drain. im not gunna lie the pieces are TRULY original and very creative, but WTF are u doing destroying ur art? tisk tisk

  • its goodbye art, saying goodbye to the actual event.

    very clever.

    open your eyes

  • Anyone who is so blunt in criticizing someones work of true genius is no artist, only a critic.

  • whhhyyyyyy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!u prob. listen to the usher song after u painted i guess, lol

  • I think u r mad whn u destroy these things... u could sell them and make such a big fortune!!! :OOO. Ur really good :)

  • thats why he sells the t shirts, posters, and sometimes he does sell them

  • but thats the whole point of this series he did... that is the art part. the talent and skill alone is not the point

  • The money isn't the point.

  • you are one of THE best artists out there. thanks for the videos!

  • what is this song called..i really wanna know!

  • DAMN PERFECT!

  • symbolic in a way

    steroids

  • deep

  • art that all can share but no one can own awesome its worthless to the greedy and priceless to the many

  • woaw I would totally pay like 50 dollars for this to bad he burned it :( but I love your art dude

  • You shoulda grilled a hotdog over those embers. The last shot shoulda been you taking a big mustardy bite. What could be more baseball?

    Love your work.

  • ww... why would u burn it

  • "goodbye art"

    but ya, worth keeping.

  • that's amazing. I would pay good money for something like that

  • u're great artist bro..

  • A home run hit!

Keep knockin' em' outta the park!

  • that's awesome

  • dude...I love your style. this is one of the best art series I have ever seen. But how do you do this kind of art? do you first stick some kind of a white duck tape or something and take it off after you paint? or do you do something after you paint?

  • your gonna make a fortune

  • i wish i could do something like that

  • Oh this was GREAT!

  • I'm fine when you make goodbye art out of pinecones, snow, cheeze whiz, leaves, oreos, pee and wine, but can't stand it when you do something like this to an actual painting! it actually makes me sad to see something like this go. Oh, and also, PLEASE label which videos are goodbye art so i don't have to worry about which pieces are going to be destroyed. i want to be prepared to see the destruction of something beforehand. Great video, though.

  • That's what I thought too.

  • re fucking SPECT

    but why burn it?????

    sell that shit!! :D

  • it's part of his theme, goo bye art, y he does it... i have no god damn clue

  • @sasukeuzumaci

i think he does it to show that something doesn't need to exist to be art, as long as it was made, it will always exist in our minds. Or he could just be bored and wants to destroy something...

  • well it's kinda upsetting that you set it on fire. I understand "goodbye art" but ... you're the devil! :) that was amazing!

  • don't burn it give it to me

  • he shoulda left at some local baseball park

  • cool stuff!!!

  • you are inspiring!

  • Hello It's called GOODBYE Art

  • Why do you liek destroy your art?

  • kkkk This iS Fun xD

    GooD JoB

  • where'd you get that big paper from?

  • why would he do that? I understand its "goodbye art"; but still, why? the world could do better with some nice art like that.

  • what a shame

  • McGwire looked like Paul Bunyan when he was playing, and now he's shrunk down to Woody Allen size. I guess the real test of whether Barry is really clean or not will be to look at him in another six or seven years.

  • ke pelele destruyes todo lo ke haces pero lo grabas en video para ke lo veamos... eso para mi kieredecir ke n te importa el arte solo tu ego y ke te rekonozka la peña en el ''sturbax''... o komo sea

  • you are a goddam genius - you never cease to amaze me - the only one in your league

your number one fan Downunder - Sydney

  • BBQ TIME!

  • 1:57 the song plays perfectly with the video

  • just because it says burning

    wow

  • lol ! :P

  • I don't understand why you would completely destroy some of your artworks.. I understand the concept, but I'm sure there are plenty of people who would love to own these particular pieces..

do you ever regret destroying them?

  • i agree to a certain extent. But you have to understand that his art is the footage. Completely different to anything, if he kept the art it would be just like an artist who video tapes how he does it, anyone can do that you know?

  • cool... :D

  • I actually saw some deeper meaning to this. Mcguire used steroids to achieve his records so all those records are referred to as black balls. I thought it was pretty cool how you did that in the video. Thanks Phil!

  • Thanks, i once again didn't get the background (i am German though, just not KNOWING most of the backgrounds of Phil's all-American art) and your comment somehow saved this piece of art for me.

Yet i get slightly bored of Phil's art, as it is always just the same old story: Either he puts together a picture using many small things or he uses some slow and meaningful, yet not tooo creative, way to paint a huge background in a color to then cut out or paint over his real picture.

  • ..why did you burn it?

  • sell it dude

  • you should have bought marshmallows

  • After it's done it can be a fireplace after a hard days work...

  • ya you'd make alot out of selling these things

  • why dont u sell this stuff u would be rich

  • Freaking Awesome.

  • why you burned it ? :(

  • Thats what he does men.. makes and burns his art.. though, would've wanted it hanging in my room..

  • yeas but is awersome :)

  • Oh this was GREAT!

  • did he scrap the paint off or did he peel stuff from underneath?

  • wow, that was amazing.

  • Artwork is fleeting and ephemeral like the delicate feeling you receive upon entering a garden of.....well got to go, dinners on the table.

  • Love you.

  • pretty friggin cool

  • at first i thought you would do the whole thing by throwing them lol

  • that was insane how did you get the writing on his shirt

  • why do u always destroy em!?

  • cant believe you could make this :O!

  • whoop go cards!

  • this is one of the greatest paintings from you. awesome, awesome, AWESOME!

  • my god. you're amazing

  • What a gifted artist! How stupid it was for him to burn it! He could have sold it and donated the money to a baseball camp.

  • its not the doing, its the concept... although i'm not saying that there isn't much to do either.. difference between an art intro class and an advanced class... students say.. "I could have done that"... but did you think of doing it?

  • i hope you cut and changed the actual pic to something else!! ne wayz, that waz AMAZING!! ure an inspiration!! =]

  • Please ignore my second post (the shorter one), it was supposed to be in response to someone and instead it made it a new post.

Phil, if you see this and feel so inclined, please feel free to delete this post and the short one in question.

Thanks and keep up the good work.

  • phil, you're so awesome. you're the most creative artist on youtube.

  • The art was awesome, as is the skill needed to do it however the music was piss poor. Thank you for your work, but please choose music next time instead of noise. The music made it hard to watch the video.

  • sick

  • I really like phil in the circle, but he just does the same thing everytime just with different materials. Your an artistic person phil, explore your OTHER artistic abilities.

  • this IS his ability. how many artists do you know that uses materials for art?

  • Correction: How many other artists do you know that use materials for their art. And everyone has to use something for art silly. Whether its paint, cameras, baseballs, whatever. So to answer your question: Every artist that ever existed and will ever be.

  • you burn it??!

  • so... how much for the ashes?

  • you have a gift!

    im lovin it

  • I havent seen a video that has rated 5 stars and 209 ratings... wow

  • awesome!

  • the falcon screams in that song need to go

  • Sorry, "WHERE" it lands

  • You shouda thrown a curveball in red to see when it lands.

  • whats the song?

  • That was a song? Are you joking?

  • what era r u from? thats real music right there!

  • You wouldn't know real music.

  • apparently u dont cause u missed the hot track in this vid!

  • Guys, it's called "Goodbye Art" for a reason. He's not going to keep his pieces after he makes them. Refer to his other videos where his works get burnt up, blown away, given away, etc.

Btw, great job on the art piece Phil!

  • That was so awesome !!

  • Your art is amazing :p i ain't seen ur vids in a while so i got a lot of catching up 2do

  • omfg. why would you burn it !?

  • it's called goodbye art for a reason

  • thats brilliant, you rock! totally kills me to see you burn it, but !it does give that awesome touch to it!!!

  • nice stencil... no realy

  • i still don't understand why you destroy it. it kind of sad really. the stuff that melts or washes away or like the hendrix match thing i understand it's almost like performance art, but the stuff that can be permenant, I just can't see destroying it. But keep up the good work, I do love looking at your stuff. while it lasts that is haha

  • GREAT! I did the same thing. I painted a body of work and burned it all while filming it. The artwork was the film. Great stuff!

    kh

  • *****

  • never seize to amaze me, and it's a plus that may is sports month! p.s. the ichiro art was AWESOME!

  • The art isn't just the picture...though that would be cool enough. The artist didn't burn the painting because he hated his talent or anything...the film is the sum total of his art project. The Artist burned the picture to show the man's career going up in smoke...All that hard work for not...or is it. The Player's still has the memories like we have this film.

  • Why do you ruin everything?

  • yeah at first when i saw u were just throwing the balls to turn the sheet white it kinda seemed pointless until u notice the way the edges look because they're so unrefined which looks totally awesome that is cool....

... putting it in a barbeque... not so cool :( cant wait until goodbye art is over i want ur pieces to live! they're jsut so awesome :(

  • I shit my pants watching this....amazing

  • you act as if though you hate your talent

  • you don't have to explain yourself to him dude! All of your goodbye art is far beyond any expectations I've ever had of art someone slaps together to throw away. You are indeed a genius and get 1 zillion points from me! Although, I don't think it's like showbiz pizza where you can turn in those points for a prize.

  • you realy should have named this "Painting with balls"

  • Your art is my favorite on the internet, and baseball is amazing (woot woot Twins..), but why choose an enormous steroid user to base a project on?

  • Dude, your an expert artist.

  • I love your videos man, I've been watching since the Che one was posted. It's a phenomenal concept and I hope you keep updating us with whatever you come up with

  • great video:)

  • ya some of you things have been sucking but you totaly won me back with this one. i give you 20 points

    lol

  • why were you gone for so long?

btw, good job on the painting

  • that was so cool

  • i hate seeing them go! :(

  • I do too.. I think that's kinda selfish not wanting to share it with others that appreciate it. He is sooooo talented! I'm sure there are tons of buyers out there if he would just stop destroying them. Or at least rent out a building and keep them there as a gallery where we could all go see them.

  • Awesome!!! I wish I had your talent.

  • what song did u use for this?

  • Very symbolic.

  • Why are you so freaking awesome?

Did you go to art school or

    are you just naturally awesome?

  • impressive!

  • cool

  • Fascinating

  • I wonder if he created goodbye art because he had a bad art stealing incident and he just lets it live on eternally in video fashion where no one can steal what he can rightfully call his? Good work. Phil is the man.

  • more art for the masses. art we can actually enjoy and understand without a PHD

Thanks Phil love your stuff. hate it when you destroy it though 5/5

  • damn....nice

  • Every time you have to destroy one, it kills me inside. I don't know how you do it, Phil!

  • You are a fucking GENIUS!

  • Awesome as always man!

  • I think that it is such a waste when you detroy your art. Don't you ever regret that?

  • Part of the beauty of destroying it is the fragile nature of everything. It was created to be destroyed, made to be enjoyed intensely for a short period of time and then erased like it was never there. go to the beach, spend a couple of hours making a sand sculpture at the high tide line and then watch it get washed away, it really is something to think about.

  • noooooo!!!!! keep it!!!!!

  • great...... but a shame to burn it..... could have been auctioned on ebay for charity.

  • Ephemeral art at its best :)

    5 stars

  • Why McGuire? The biggest cheat in MLB?

Jackie Robinson or Ted Williams, pick someone that has the respect of the fans.

  • I hate it when you burn your art :-(

  • You're always so inventive not only in your execution but also destruction, I'm sad this only has 2 more months to run. Hope you'll continue to delight us with regular posts after that. Cheers, Lesley

  • AWESOME

  • I love the baseball concept. It must have taken you forever to throw enough baseballs at it to have enough paint cover. By the way... You should come to the midwest gathering on June 7th (6-7-8) at the mall of america since you are right there next to it. It would be good for you to get a little more exposure and meet some cool people from the youtube community. If you're interested take a look at spricket24's page for more info.

  • I suppose setting fire to it while it was hanging in the baseball cage would have gotten you in trouble. But it would have looked cool.

  • Not a baseball fan, but the art is undeniably wonderful :-)

    ~Trav

  • Should have sold it and given the proceeds to charity.

    Awesome as always!

  • you've done better =/

  • Mark McGwire*

  • For a minute I thought you were going to paint the entire piece by pitching balls. I'm happy that you didn't. It's nice to know that you're semi-human. :)

  • Hahaha, I thought the same thing.

  • ONly Two more months!!! I hate watching that great talent end up burnt or in the trash or simply destroyed. Keep up the good work Phil! that is why I love you : )

Marry me... when you get the change ; )

  • is it just me or are your last 2 pieces just incredibly difficult ways to apply paint to a canvas? most of your pieces are necessarily long, but these could've been done in 20 minutes

  • phil keeps becoming more amazing

    good stuff

  • You should have gave it to me...ohhhhhhh..awesome and fantastic work man, as always!!!!!!

  • you're so amazing.

  • nvr get bored of your work.... on behalf of everyone in the whole world, "keep it up!!"

  • amazing, as always.

  • Fabulous! But your blog link is toast. Better check it.

  • you are amazing!

  • si señor!!!

    genial
