Awesome video. My dad was a DFCS and avionics tech on the 52s and was stationed at Anderson and U-tapao back in 67, and was in Okinawa in the late 60s. My sister and I grew up watching these planes. He always talked about how awesome these planes were to watch. He recently passed away and this video brought back some serious memories of my dad. Thank you sir! 68th, Follow Me
To someone who had an Army friend in Utapao Base who came from California and his nick name is Bob . He is my American Dad . He knew a Thai woman ‘s name RENOO. If he is alive , he will be about 74 years old .He is a very tall man because I am his daughter and 1.8 ft. If anyone know him , please make me know his name and his more details …..to chaleefunk@gmail.com ……Thank you so much
Briefly stationed @ Amarillo AFB TX late '66, where the thunder roar from those big black 52's was a part of every day (and night). Impressive. To "360jarhead" - thank you for your service, BUT the U.S. had squandered almost 60K dead & half million wounded for ten (10) years during that stupid conflict. Plus the Treasury. You need to read "The Art of War", written 2,500 years ago. That book clearly explains why the USA was not going to "win" in VN, even if we had stayed there for 100 years.
wow this footage is great,i was born in 67 but my uncle served in the war he made it back due to the tank he was on got fired upon and he lost his leg ,i had the pleasure to know him when i was young, miss him.i wanted some of his medals when he died i remember but my grandmother said no,i now know why,i sure did not earn them and they are his .
Great stuff. I was one of the kids waving to you while sitting on his bicycle next to the flightline fence as you guys taxied out. A wig-wag wave of the 50's from the tailgunner was a big thrill for us back then. Andersen 61-63 and 65-68.
nocal95628....... I was TDY 1967 from 22nd A&E, March AFB. Abt 3 months ago, I received two calls from Guam vets who served during that same period. And, while doing a trade show maybe 5 years ago, the guy in the booth next to me starts talking about military service, and he shares that he was a B52 navigator during his 12 year hitch in the 80's! I pass March AFB Air Museum regularly, and should stop to visit their "Gray Ghost" inventory. Remember the canabalized '52 at Anderson?
If only LBJ had the damn BALLS along with McNamara to haul and kick ass.......we could have done it! SOBS...I will never forget them. USS Hunley (AS-31) Polaris Point, USN.........just down the highway (Marine Drive in Guam) of our aerodale brothers! Give em hell and kick ass! OUST OBAMA.......frigging PUNK HE IS AND A SPOILED BRAT! LIL OLE SHITHEAD HE IS! FUCK HIM!
Was TDY AAFB Jan-Jul '68. Was OMS Asst. Crew Chief. Out of Beale AFB CA. We worked 24 hrs on and 12 hrs off, took years to get back to normal. Also, the old ears ring all the time, from all the fun back then. Got to see 0100 up close and personal, along with 'Ole Snoopy' & 'Rhapsody In Rivets'. I would do over if I could. At Beale we were all nuke with G's, so it was a real trip going to D's. Great fitting music. Thanks for the memory, Awesome....
That's a sweet vid, and a great tune to match it up with. I spent a little time on Guam working KC-135s a few years back and always loved going into the dining hall to look at the photos from your days, BUFFs lining the ramps and the sky about as far as the eye could see. I can't imagine the atmosphere...
one day i walked int a a b52g have yourselvese a break there is nothing like this I want to say to all that ever was around these I love You brother 58 0184
THANKS for this video! I was stationed on the USS Hunley (AS-31) USN, Dec 71-Dec72 @ Polaris Point. We would count out on deck how many were taking off on a flt. & 12 hrs later go on deck to see how many were returning. You aerodales were awesome! My ole man retd. USAF in '73 after 22 yrs. & his bro. was the XO of VF1 Wolfhound Tomcats on their first sea deployment on the "E". Thanks again and what memories! I'd do it alllll over again but only for 20 instead of 4! LOL
The bagpipe tune in Sky Pilot is called "All The Blue Bonnets Are Over The Boarder". It's the regimental march past tune of the Kings Own Scottish Borderes. Just thought I'd through that out.
