I have a seemingly random question. What Screen capture program do you use to make your tutorials? I like the way it zooms in and out without making you dizzy. I will be making a tutorial later and already use Debut but would like to know of other options, especially ones I know I already like. Nice tutorial btw, easy to follow.
@QuickAndDirtyGraphix glad you enjoyed them. I used CamStudio to record the full screen, then in Sony Vegas, I would add the zooming using smooth key frames. Hope that helps!
That really doesn't much look like wood, perhaps if you selected more of it before doing this... However I would have just used the wood as a layer on top of the text, or a mask if you will, then decrease the opaque to say 30 or so. And if you really wanted it to look like wood you should color the text a woodish color and then do it ;)
@illegal0immoral With all due respect, the intention of this exercise was to add texture and 'grungey' effects to text. It wasn't supposed to look like wooden letters, that is a different tutorial :o)
@Way2Spirited Well according to your video the intention was: "How to make text (or any object) have the texture of the background image"
I was simply giving you, and whoever else might read these comments, some pointers on easier ways to make it look a lot more like your background image.
It's basically the same in Photoshop - just use the Selection > Color Range tool. I did a non-video tutorial here: lukeroberts. deviantart. com/art/QuickTips -Textured-Text- 20778770 (take out the spaces) or just search google for "quicktips textured text" and it should be the first result.
That is a good point - forgot to add the links to resources used. The wood image is called "Darker Wood" by Paulensane on deviantart. Available here: paulensane. deviantart. com/art/Darker-Wood-66066645
