Rhythm... but mostly patience, which I don't have alot of. I have enough of it where the anvil minigame's usually no problem for me; it's the mountain that throws me off, and I have no idea why...
Guess it's different for different people. I went to a musical school and were a bassist, so I guess I had an advantage in this game in that sense.
Now that I think about it, I always thought the 'controls' were far too simple and easy to make a challenging game, while my sister barely got past the first stage. She even borrowed my PSP for a month and never managed to complete it.
LOLs, I'm a percussion person myself, so yeah, it helps having a musical background. ^_^
I kinda like having it so simple, that way if I'm on the go on a long trip, I don't have to worry too much about inputting controls. It's the perfect "road trip" game!... Of course, I've had most of my trouble on the minigames while in a bumpy car, the mountain minigame suddenly becomes much more bearable when not in a moving vehicle. ^^;
I've always preferred games that requires a bit more presence of mind and games that go at your pace, such as turn based strategy games like Disgaea or FFT.
I noticed that this game sort of put me in a semi-conscious daze with its hypnotic rhythm. That's also what cause me to fail sometimes, like when a sudden change in the song from the patapons that didn't feel quite right to the music, which snapped me out of my daze and caused me to miss a beat.

It does kill time very well though.
